BA considering charging for meals.

Recommended Posts

BA are now considering charging for meals and food on Long Hau flights and the money saved will be used to Enhance Business and First class.

BA food is already some of the worst in the world, their service is also apalling, so it just means more people will use alternatives.

Ive used BA twice in my life and both time was a catastrophe and the last flight cost them more than the flight cost me.

I will never ever fly with them again and will try and deter anyone from from using what I consider one of the worst Airlines in the world.

I consider it insulting that Economy passengers are made to pay up to help out the First and Business class.

Its just BA Bullshit.

On my trip out to BKK 3 years back on the tightly packed in 777 the food ran out and they had to offer just salads.

It also happened on our 22 hour delayed return flight. I spoke to one of the shirtlifter hostesses outside the airport who told me BA never supply enough standard meals for passengers on Long haul to the far east.

Thats another thing, every one of the staff on both flights were shirtlifters, mincing backwards and forwards like little whores..

Still the flight cost me around £450 and I sued them and won 600 Euros for the lies deceit and 22 hour delay.

NEVER AGAIN BA, NEVER AGAIN.

BA have been shit in economy long haul for donkeys years. I used them once for a flight to Bangkok in the eighties when it stopped there before going onto Sydney. I swore then never again BA for long haul, and kept to my pledge. Didn't have much choice though when doing short legs to Heathrow from ABZ though.

Surprised you even considered using them, I thought you worked in the flight booking game?

Sounds like BA and American Airlines have the same business model.....treat the customer like shit and always remember the customer is an interruption to our work and not the purpose.

I'm a big fan of Qatar Airlines.....their flights from DFW are non stop to Doha and the three trips I took over the past 6 months they are 1/2 full and I get a row to myself in economy. The legs to the final destinations ....Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai were all crowded flights so I think business is good for them.

It comes as no suprise, BA have always treated economy passengers as 3rd class human beings. During the Volcanic Ash cloud we were standed in the Philippines for an extra 5 weeks (boo hoo), but BA were being useless in giving information etc, we only just made our outward flight to the RP as well, it was one of 5 that were not affected by the strike action that day.

Anyway, on our return flight to the UK they managed to separate 2 adults and a 2 year old. No complaints from me on that one but Mrs Butch was upset, plus I expect the 2 pax who potentially had a screaming 2 year old sat in between them.

The crew are generally the shoddiest, most apathetic and self righteous bunch of wankers ever to step aboard an aeroplane.

They treat anyone not holding a biz class ticket with disdain, have an attitude of self importance and to be perfectly honest if I ever have to fly BA again, I'm going to take a dump in a sick bag and leave it in the galley area while the crew aren't looking, just out of spite.

To be honest I have, on quite a few occasions, been unhappy with them with Business Class bookings.

Once when I missed my connection due to a delayed incoming, non-BA flight, another when I tried to re-route a ticket, after I had been sent to a job in Buenos Aries from Caracas... they really tried to gouge me!

My much remembered thought once on a flight was 'when you said 'a shrimp salad', I didn't realize you meant 'a shrimp salad''.

They never seemed to be able to get the fucking aircraft away on time from that shit-hole, LHR (BA009-pre Term 5), always some pathetic bloody hitch, followed by a string of lies and excuses, as if I am some sort of idiot. Even had a stewardess try to give me 'tonic' instead of G&T, can't even drink your frustration away. I always dreaded to think what economy was like.

They used to be so good many years ago!

It is the Emirates or Qatar A380 for me, and I am quite Nationalistic.

I did, but on this occasion there were several hiccups. I had booked on Thai, Due to a horrendous smash on the M3 Motorway we were stuck there for over 3 hours (My car was damaged) and the flight was missed

To cut a long story short, I 'Phoned a friend' who cross booked me onto the next flight which was the BA flight. I had little choice as I didnt want to pay again and had a meeting in Bangkok that couldnt be cancelled. Out of sheer panic and desperation and still in a bit of a shock after the accident I took the flight.

The seats were so small and the legroom was appalling with my knees touching the seat in front.

When I got home I 'Phoned a friend' and asked them not to do me any more favours in the future, as I heard laughter in the background.

Ah, that explains it, didn't think anybody with any knowledge/experience of the flight industry would book them economy class long haul.

Your experience on the plane mirrors mine exactly.

So fly in Business or First and take advantage of this plan.

Long haul coach is terrible so a little bit more terrible is no big deal.

If only Virgin flew direct to BKK from LHR things would be great!!!

I still wouldnt fly them.

Bransons original principles for Virgin was to undercut BA and keep fares low. Now his prices are the same or as near as dammit to BA prices.

Branson says one thing and does another. He, personally is a nice bloke, but he has some absolute arseholes working for him/

Not wanting to threadfuck, but the airlines I'd like to see flying direct alongside those that already do are KLM, Cathay and Singapore. I'd choose any of them over the current choices even if it meant paying a premium.

BA have had it too good for too long. I've been watching a few youtube clips of how it used to be THE airline to work for, best pay, conditions and equipment. They charged a premium and the service was good, I once flew to Bahrain when my GF flight got cancelled back in the 80's and it was totally different to the previous GF experience. Now to be honest it's no different to any other 2 star airline operating out of LHR etc.

GP, you've been in the TA game for long enough, where and when did the rot set in with BA in your opinion?.

Its never been an economy friendly airline. It deteriorated badly when Willie Walsh took the reins, That snidey little git openly voiced his contempt for Economy passengers.

I can easily remember back in the early 80's jumping on a BA flight to Paris. Just in front of my seat was the Business class. The waitress (for thats all they are0 was handing out newspapers to the Bsiness class and I dared to ask for one. She looked at me with utter contempt and spouted "THEY are only for Business class"

I just replied "You've just lost a longterm customer dearie" and with that I never flew with them again untill my disastrous flight a few years back.

They must have lost well over £50k in airfares over the years from me for that little contretemp.

By the way you will never see the likes of KLM SIA and CP flying direct from the UK to Thailand as they just dont have traffic rights to do so. Thats why when China Airlines started up they had no traffic rights from the UK to Bangkok so they would fly from Amsterdam and so not to lose punters if you booked the flight the day previous to their departure dates from Schipol (Tuesday and THursday) they would fly you out the day before and give you a free hotel for the night in Amsterdam.

I thought that it was a generally accepted concept that over priced Business and First class tickets help offset cheap Economy class tickets...

It does seem unlikely that someone paying about £350 is somehow subsidizing someone on the same flight who paid £2500, rather than the other way round. I don't really want to subsidize anyone!
