it is being forced in some states.  Well at least in California.  By 2035 ALL cars and light trucks must be electric or other emission-free design.  Of course they aren't forcing people to junk their 3 year old ICE cars but mandates aren't organic regardless of how long or grandfathered base.

The actual result of mandates like this and others (can't recall where but they exist in the USA) is to actually turn some people away from electric cars that might otherwise have migrated to one for economy and better tech.  The American psyche doesn't like being told what to do even if "it is good for ya".

Would be better to allow electric charging networks to mature and the cars improve to the point where it is cool to own one.  We will get there but the mandate is a set back IMO.

My understanding is that after a set date! The earliest I have seen is 2030! All NEW vehicles sold will be electric.I don't know of any laws that have been confirmed. In the UK that would  require an act of Parliament. Not sure if that's the case for Scotland,Wales and NI.How that's going to work in practice in the US is anybody's guess.Google tells me there are 286 million cars on the road in the US.9.3 % are electric.13.5 million trucks.above10,000 pounds. Then there's the buses and agricultural, construction etc.Are you saying that only electric vehicles will be on the road in California from 2035? Is that a law?

A few from Tree Town and surrounds from earlier this evening.

I was on Walking Street last week, had a good time.  Doorman wouldn't let me into Pinup at 7:55 so I went over to XS for a beer, when I came back at 8:30 I was lucky to get a table in the back.  The b

Sanctuary of Truth.  Admission is 500 baht.  Quite busy this afternoon.  They do try to get visitors to stay in groups (50 in our case).  I managed to get lost from the group and did my own thing taki

No the existing cars will be grandfathered in.  They won't suddenly declare them unusable.  Even the crazies that run California won't go that far.  But yes Newsom the governor of California made an executive mandate for that.  Hmmm no democratic process or vote?  😜

BTW you raise an interesting issue with agriculture and long haul trucking.  Maybe technology will improve to the point that they can replace diesel fuel for those applications by 2035.  And maybe it will be as efficient and cost effective.  But if not once again government will have caused economic damage forcing a change for what we don't know.

IMO all of this electric craze needs to have a dose of reality.  Some do it to make the air cleaner in big cities.  OK fair enough in concentrated areas I buy that the air will be cleaner.  But the global warming crowd needs to understand ALL energy comes at a climate cost and electricity has to be generated.  And the renewables really aren't cutting it now.  Personally I believe nukes are the answer.  But I'm just a guy with an opinion and a keyboard.

@Bazle  Obviously different vehicles.  I wonder if all have consecutive registration numbers.

An open challenge to anyone to find the other 10.

Here's one!

Looks like Soi Casino is getting proper drainage in preparation for a proper road surface.

With a proper road surface S1 Pool Hall could be the first of many new nightlife entertainment venues in this area. The thought also occurred to me that with the open floor plan of S1 it would be an easy conversion to a casino if when gambling is legalized.
