Let us say, I was under the impression prior, that a single night away, didn't require a re submittal of a TM30. Also I have had these odd nights in a Bangkok Hotel, and had no consequences, and they were not little places. So living in Pattaya I don't think they aren't being too stringent. It's when they are pressured to send more money to Bangkok they will tighten up. As to the OP, he is using Chiang Rai, I have friends up there who give me positive feedback as to their dealings with immigration.
  3. If anybody wants to add 3 or 4 blobs of 'sauce' to decorate my plate they are wasting their time! And I hope never to be given a 'foam'.... looks disgusting.

What 'visa' do you obtain in Thailand, or are you referring to an extension? A guy who makes a living around 'visas' in my area suggests that even if you have been out of the country, go and do your 'previous' 90 day report anyhow. if you are back in Thailand when it is due. They can only send you away or process it, and thus avoid the 'confusion'. Personally I have never had an issue and usually reset the 90 day clock when I land back in Thailand. I don't do the TM30 either as 'haven't been asked'..... living at the same address many years. Such is the confusion and variety around Thailand.
  5. Spoke too soon, more rain and getting cooler.

  6. You can find most things in the Pattaya area, for those you can't adapt, do without. Most of the time it is hardware items, or gadgets, where I just can;t be bothered going round the shops to find them, and order on-line.
  7. I have found Thais useless at understanding maps. Fortunately they all seem to know 'TOPS' which isn't there any more!
  8. So long as it isn't Poland or Delhi..... I am still unsure where our passports will be coming from.
  9. Rainy spell over I believe, quite hot yesterday.

  10. What, The Sea Side Restaurant didn't get a mention?
  11. It hasn't been the same since Crazy Dave's went. Super cheap, get what you are given, sour-faced service and repetitive video on TV, oh the days of looking at the other customers with their fat bellies, bloodshot eyes and sweaty armpits.
  12. Try having £ Sterling post Brexit!
  13. Well I guess there is quite a market there for Russians, Chinese, Italians whatever, who struggle with English. I know I would struggle if the forms were in Chinese or only Thai. As it is they are straightforward. Quite a jump in price that, 100 to 500.... we are here to be milked.
  14. Yes you can have it on the al-Fresco terrace, ie sat on an old container roof!
  15. USA Expats Gary, the majority aren't.
  16. Well we recently had a topic helping some guy with food poisoning. Not only that, this looks pretty good, and cooking can be a pleasant pastime.
  17. Has anyone noticed the original question was asked nearly a decade ago!
  18. Raining in Pattaya.

  19. Thread closed. I am sure another will be along shortly!
  20. Don't drink Heineknn. their bottles are only 320ml!!! You will need more after eating all that.
  21. Here is the info for Swampy.... Of course they call it a Visa just to annoy me, also available at Don Mueng More info here in a Thai Visa thread.
  22. I presume you know, for the emergency scenario, you can get a re-entry permit at the airport.
  23. Some lessons that can of course be passed on. Another lesson is to put your valuables away. If there is a room safe, use it. It is called advice. Comments like May well only be comments, and may need further detail which is not forthcoming, but if it is taken as advice, something bad will entail. My drugging experience was actually in Bangkok, although it happened more recently to a friend here in Pattaya. I still remember the rather amusing tale doing the rounds of girls painting knock out drug onto their nipples to be ingested by soon to be robbed customers! The hiding ladyboy under the bed rifling through pant pockets and of course, the dreaded jet-ski scamming!
  24. Timely report from Atlas2. I have just decided on a trip out and my one remaining decision is whether I get a single or multiple re-entry permit. (It isn't a Visa). Do I too get a multiple at 3800 (ouch), or a single for the trip I am planning in 7 or so weeks. Not sure yet if I will go to the UK this summer. I have previously added a 3800 baht multiple promptly after getting my extension sorted, but rarely justified the expense. Obviously one needs to do 4 trips to feel justified on that one! Getting that permit is always more of a wait than the 90 day reporting, or even doing the extension. Aggravates me that the retirement extension needs this further processing and expense to permit me to come and go freely.
