  1. Yeah, I got the email this AM, Introducing Fare Choices: Tailor-made fares for every guest. From 14 September we will introduce Fare Choices, offering you the option to choose your ticket flexibility, baggage allowance, and many other benefits. Now you can select a fare with the relevant services, giving you the power to pay for what you really need. So more people who have paid less for cabin-baggage only cramming up the overheads!
  2. John LeMesurier.
  3. David Niven.
  4. Not with the same range but I get your point.
  5. If that is what you are after I am surprised you bother to get on a plane. Plenty of places to get Pie and Mash in town, jellied eels, well, I haven't seen them on any menus of late. And I would not be ordering them if I had.
  6. They get repetitive quick, really enjoyed reading the first 2 or 3 then got the idea they were being written to a formula!
  7. Yes she was in the 1984 one (different movie and a TV movie at that, so fails on 2 counts). The Leslie Howard film was released in 1934.
  8. It can be worth it actually. Or a special treat.
  9. It was a hot day yesterday, more like April than August.

Are we leading up to a water shortage?

  10. Well stay South of it or North of it all and things don't seem to have changed much. Where the construction is it's a pain in the ass and this is low season, also of course where the motorway (Hwy 7), hits Sukhumvit is bad. Obviously getting across Suk around Klang is a pain too and I miss the opportunity to make a U-turn. But overall I am surprised how things seem to have adapted. Believe it or not the damned minibuses still stop to pick up or drop off passengers heading North just after Klang! There is also dozens of coaches making mayhem at 'The World of Rubber Fetish Centre' just South of the Klang junction when heading North.
  11. Book Biz or First and you are up there!
  12. Olin Howland
  13. It looks like a hive of activity when I ride past...... I was wondering if they would let me in through the gate with a camera. Although the dirt looks mostly like sand I could use some for my garden!
  14. Or let us say it is directly overhead at about midday and darned hot! Normally have cloud cover this time of year.
  15. When I flew in First with Emirates I didn't get no buggy. I could have done with one though, straight to the bathroom as I was stuffed with JW Blue label and Stilton!
  16. Karl Malden
  17. Leos and Tigers and Changs actually.
  18. Pleasant shower when I got up this morning. But now the sun is out and at it's strongest this time of year.

  19. I don't want to go into too much detail here off topic but I had an adventure out into the cassava fields last night returning from a restaurant. I made 2 stupid mistakes. 1) I followed a diversion sign, there was just the one, and it certainly was a diversion. 2) I took advice off a Thai lady following behind me. It is a good job I have a truck.
  20. Sometimes they want to be sure you are physically capable of operating the door! Budget carriers certainly charge for them. Years ago I could get them on KLM... upstairs on the 747, great seat although you couldn't reach your menu in the seatback in front.
  21. Biz Class and book assistance?
  22. Stacy Keach
  23. It may be different in the USA! Friday Night is traditional 'ladz night out' in the UK and has never been a night for football. I wonder if it is another nail in the coffin for the pubs if guys stay home to watch the match. In the USA,if shown live West Coast, would it not be rather early for the pubs at 11.45am?
  24. I recently read of a collapsing drain cover (on Khao Talo) where the drop was 20cm...ouch. Have to watch out for people who have been drinking in restaurants too!
  25. Yes I see the differences in time of year. I have a large blind on my lounge window, which is pretty much East facing, yet I have to move it towards the South around September and back t'other way as we pass through say March. I even fitted extra hooks to facilitate this silliness. I was also recently shocked to find my gas cylinders were in direct sunlight and pretty hot up against a North facing wall. Houses of course are built with overhanging roofs to keep the sun off during the heat of the day but condo and hotel walls don't have that protection. Another difference is that in Europe you may want the sun on you, here I avoid it!
