Excellent, I had a reasonable run the week before. Got a ticket fairly quick and was then waiting about 40 minutes. Nice chat with an American as I waited. As you say a shuffle and reordering of the papers by the lady, money please, here is your change, a ticket, come back tomorrow after 10. Some say get there when they open, not sure about that, there has always been many before me when I do so, and such a trial to get there so early, living on the North of Pattaya. I chose a Tuesday, as I was busy Wednesday AM, avoiding the black days of Monday and Friday. But I went to the bank first to get my letter.....that was quick too. To be honest the biggest drag was driving back there around midday in heavy lunchtime traffic on Wednesday. Then they just told me I had to wait until 1pm (in the past I had managed to pick up my passport at lunch-break). Simple Simon a good place for a snack, or a rub-n-tug in the next street! Done with for another year, a nice new retirement extension. I think you did right going before their NY break.

I think the only ever time for me was eons ago when I had one of those 100$ bills that were in the 'we do not accept' serial number group. I changed it in a bank and was asked for my PP. I better put my FF card in my wallet I guess.

I passed a Russian at the TT exchange last night and he was discreetly trying to count a substantial pile of 1000 baht notes. I did not see whether he had changed roubles or another currency, but you can imagine rouble carriers fairly sprinting to the exchange booth. The linked article suggests it becomes more difficult for all but the wealthiest to take money out of their home country. This cannot bode well for Pattaya which has focussed heavily on their custom. Although like MM, I would not be a sad man to see fewer huge Pegas coaches impeding traffic.

Perhaps I will spend NYE in town.... so long as there is no damned obligatory Gala Dinner!
