No not really...... it seems more venue dependent. There might be a rule in quite a few places that they do not openly get your old man out, but generally you can never be quite sure how far things can go. For a newbie, I would always suggest a few days in Bangkok and some in Pattaya. Many then decide to go straight on to Pattaya in the future... mostly it is somewhat cheaper.... but for better looking girls, some of the Bangkok venues are well ahead. I like a trip to Bangkok just to see the obviously classier, better dressed girls one sees on the Skytrain even.

Who knows, I suspect a few more months too, when Thais are less concerned about Covid.

No, what you refer to as the 90 day reporting is address reporting and no check on the bank account. If you do a retirement extension 'straight', you will have to show you had the 800k for 2 months prior to the application. Then you receive a paper telling you to return 3 months later with the updated bankbook, to show you have left it untouched. At the time of subsequent renewal, it is expected they look for 12 months bank statement to ensure you complied with the previous extension rules... 800k/400k/800k for 3/7/2 months. When an agent does things, you don't even need to attend! This is how things go for Jomtien immigration, there may well be variations around the country.

You have a slight but valid point. The Expats would be in violation of rules, there would be no solace in blaming the agent, nor immigration...

Personally I do not believe so. The only risk might be you are 'locked in' to using an agent repeatedly. I know folks who have been getting their extension this way for many many years. There might be a future rule change that alters the situation, but that could also be said of those doing it 'legitimately' I believe immigration will always support this accommodation... it is the way things are done here. (I personally did use an agent, BUT I do have sufficient money in the bank and I supplied my own bank letter, cost me 10,000 baht, they paid the 1900 extension fee, did me a 90 day report, and no mention of returning after 3 months to show I have retained the funds)

I don't know that that is the rule but certainly it can appear that way.... beware of motorcycles especially, entering the main road without looking on your left, particularly on a red light!

He did the 'ugly American bit'... I believe immigration found him, went round and he was apologetic. End of story, although I am unsure how true that was. He should have been wearing a real diaper! I saw a similar event in a 7-11, an Oz guy, I felt ashamed, he put the young girl working there in a difficult position, not her fault. I have no problem with Pattaya Beer Garden name, seems OK. Stickman suggesting 'Bar' doesn't work for me, it is known more as a restaurant. Looking forward to some reports from people who have visited.

I used a seafood place on Sukhumvit last night and what I suspect as the Bangkok crowd in there still wear the masks... good for them. Even the little kids, saw one who had to be fed (usually that is males up to the age of 22 here), wanting to put his own back on. A coach party arrived and all marched in with masks.... I wear one on the way in and out, I like to show consideration for the people around me, but removed once I sit. Fortunately I was the only farang there, as I suspect many others would embarrass me by going mask less.

I have a damaged septum (so I was told) and get nosebleeds very easily, but did not cry off. The swab didn't go that far in and there was a spittle sample too. They wanted signature or a QR scan to go into The Central Festival yesterday, although it seemed to depend on which door you used (required from Beach Rd but not 2nd)....

Calm down, don't get all bunched up..... You need an RTK test to go to a dentist sometimes too. I doubt The Beer Garden are reporting test results, anyhow, there is no obligation to give identification.

They usually start off well and progressively get later as the day goes on, so should be good. My last one would have had me stranded in Manchester, it was so far behind schedule.... fortunately I had booked a room at a hotel by the airport for a relaxed train journey next morning. (After a real good English fry-up breakfast).

Well good luck.... I took transiting through LHR off the menu many years ago due to many stressful experiences. The shuttles between LHR and Manchester are late so often. The only acceptable way for me was a T5-T5 transfer......(ie BA, and they are awful). Sorry to hear the alternatives are not up and running, Etihad, Emirates, Oman etc. It is some years since I did it but my last one was Qatar in Biz Class, which was ok.
