  1. The customers always come back.......
  2. Independence Day.
  3. So she didn't have her IDL and her national licence was incomprehensible to the local police. You do realise that the IDL is invalid if not accompanied by the original licence, and visa-versa. What a magistrate accepts perhaps isn't up to what you think. And you believe speed limits should be dictated by the presence of buildings on each side, actually they put signs up instead! Now you also claim the police discriminated against her, Is she a minority? Yes...I did mean right hand side of the road.......attempt at humour. If the limit was 45, and she was doing 53, I guess that is just a little beyond the minor transgression level.. I got pulled over similarly.... I wanted to get away from the damned cop riding my arse and I think he pushed me to accelerate as I left the town! I guess after he checked the legality of my UK licence, he was charmed by my UK accent. Sad fact they use speed tickets to earn money these days.
  4. This 'contract' you are trying to transfer, by law it must contain a lot of details. I am guessing it is not your contract, but your GFs or another 3rd party. On the contract, it should specify the unit number. UNIT no: US-1527 FLOOR: 15 TOWER: West TYPE: 1S1. It may detail whether it is in the foreign 49% quota or the Thai 51% quota. If not, you would need to get a letter from the main contractor, which I believe is Raimon land. Perhaps you could contact them to determine whether US-1527 is Thai or foreign quota if the contract does not specify. Or pay them a visit. Raimon Land Unixx Co., Ltd. Unit 2201-3 The Millennia Tower, 62 Langsuan Road, Pathumwan, Bangkok. Site Location: Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi. You are otherwise advertising a pig-in-a-poke!
  5. Also in.... Dances With Wolves
  6. Yes, approximately at the 2nd rd end of soi 6.......... From what I hear Kasikorn is a very good bank, but I find Bangkok Bank okay.
  7. FFS BigD, MM is in Pattaya!
  8. I might go blind.
  9. You can get fined for speeding in Thailand even when you were not. You seem to be in drama queen mood this morning, still rattled from the earthquake?
  10. KLM used to serve Grolsch beer in Biz class with the spring loaded top..... ..... that impressed me. I think they went to cans.......
  11. My credit cards are with Bangkok Bank and they seemed very keen to issue them to me, I have a retirement extension. As Bigmick says I did have to open a fixed term deposit which is to be kept the same as my credit limit. My reasons for needing a CC were similar to what MM posted above, but my credit limit is sufficient to buy a Biz Class ticket to the UK (well if I don't fly SQ!) They take anything I owe out of my savings account automatically. I like the way my mobile phone is used to guarantee and confirm internet purchases. I didn't like the way Kasikorn were pressing you to purchase insurance, that is horespucky......someone is getting a commission! They even sent me a free gift the first time I used it.... a rather good travelling backpack with wheels.
  12. That could have it's drawbacks.
  13. If you could go to 28,000 a studio at Nova Park might be okay. If it is just under a month obviously I am thinking of the monthly rate.
  14. Do you apply similar loose numerical rules to other legal constraints? The cop was catching people who drive dangerously and her fine may well reduce taxpayers contributions. It is funny in the USA, silly limits like 60 mph used to be all over the interstates, yet 25 mph was posted in residential areas. Women with children used to wave at me to slow down even when I was doing under the speed limit, like self appointed traffic cops. The cop was doing his job, why do you presume he needs to 'get a life?'
  15. The Last of the Mohicans
  16. Yes, quite often on a Saturday, as the sun sets, the TGF will light up one of those circular pot BBQs (a bigger 18 inch diameter one) and BBQ up a mess of shrimp, marinated pork etc and cold beers come from the fridge. Funnily enough she seems to enjoy that.
  17. I can't think of any-place in that area but I know there are some new ones set further back....northwards. There is supposed to be some construction planned as the old buildings on Saisong 5 are empty now. As you say central. and no major bar complexes/ discos Thai pubs nearby.
  18. It is hardly surprising if your ex produced a non-English licence expecting that to fly in the USA! ( The cop had to radio in over my UK one for me in Mo...and as you say the rental people were unconcerned) You seem to think the police did wrong but your wife was the one speeding....was she on the right?
  19. Not much land for that amount of money. They are throwing houses up in this area now, I visit a friend there and we look over his walls at the ever encroaching estates. There is even the onion dome of a Russian Orthodox church has appeared in the distance. It seemed amusing to mention they have included an electric kettle for the 14 million baht.
  20. I remember the fat loud mouth was in The Flintstones.
  21. Presumably a triple entry tourist visa.
  22. I had 2 messages from people watching this in the UK this AM. Seemed like they found it interesting, although yah-bah is hardly a new phenomena here.
  23. I walk down soi 7 at least once a week and have never yet made it down there without having to step in the gutter umpteen times. Fortunately the Olala tables are set well back. I feel the heat, particularly when I eat, so prefer to get indoors and in AC, outside is great over the sea, elsewhere, it is for the smokers. And that is likely my contention, if one person lights up nearby as I eat, the meal is ruined. I have always wondered how people enjoy eating at the seafood place on soi 15, with tarts, drunks and boisterous crowds bustling past. When I eat near the house with the TGF it is mostly al fresco, although we find a few places which are quite open and breezy, I still take a small towel with me!
  24. Pedantic of me but if I go to a restaurant, I certainly do not want to be sweating over a hot stove, and most likely neither does the TGF. I was not impressed when this happened in posh restaurants and someone prepared food at the table, and felt like saying 'bugger off back to the kitchen'. Even that noisy Japanese style where you sit at the grill and the cooks yell and try to entertain.
  25. Sadly those 'skins' don't look so pretty. Although an occasional cheese fix is enjoyable.
