Yeah that is what my True SIM is for. I get a shit load of push/advert type messages though from them! I did notice it had stopped after the phone was turned off for an extended period, but resumed soon after I got back. Perhaps I should use a different phone, keeping it turned off until I make international calls, rather than my current 2-SIM model.

The sky isn't 'clear' most of the year though as you would expect with the high humidity. You can get the starry nights November-January when nights are cooler. Not so much smog though....just dust and fumes!

I think the TGF is well tired of hearing my grumble about traffic lights that keep me waiting, but are green for an empty other minor junction. The lights are all timer based ( rather than having some under road detection) and of course no synchronisation between them. Also they are green mostly for everyone, those going right, left or straight on rather than giving some longer period for the main road straight through traffic. Thanks for the heads up here... fortunately I rarely need to go this way and use Sukhumvit-Threpasit when heading to and from Jomtiem. Sometimes things seem to work better without the traffic lights, just letting everyone go at it. Could be worse...... it gets really bad when a policeman takes over!

Have to,remember that........ Serve shite food. Have abusive unfriendly staff who abuse the customers. But serve it all cheap cheap cheap! Says more about the clientèle.

Well I have also been in the UK for slightly over 3 weeks.......but of course the pool pump still needs to run and it seems the TGF still requires AC.....and there is a stream of visiting relatives who wouldn't dream of using an AC in their own homes but do at mine!!!! And the damned TV is never off with her mother here getting in the way on the floor!

I hate to be pedantic but buses can get into accidents too, and when it happens there can be a bit of carnage. Each to their own but dragging suitcases all over the orient loses it's appeal as you age.

Toom was reliably waiting for me yesterday despite the flight coming in late. Good car and driver. Had to hike to the car park as usual which I never enjoy.

I often think getting out of Bangkok is as difficult as getting to the airport from Pattaya! But for sure there are more taxis around. And to stay near the airport is like wasting a night of your holiday. As to the OP,I used to splurge on a taxi organised by the hotel, rather than risk a more casual or cheaper arrangement..... they fortunately never let me down.
