Britain Trails Only Chad in Airline Access Costs, WEF Study Says
jacko replied to bigdelta's topic in Airline Discussion
You got that right.... although the taxes shouldn't depend on where you buy the ticket from, they hit everyone flying out of the UK.Tickets still look a lot cheaper ex-UK with the baht only 45/£. -

I got some called 'Branson' (I think it was) once..... nearly the same but not quite right. Now I have a jar of the real stuff in the suitcase next to the Heinz salad cream when flying back. Branston is my choice with pork pies.... and cheese. -

Good suggestion..... shallots are readily available here, being more common than the big white onions, and white vinegar easily available and cheap. -
It seems so hit and miss getting credit cards to work on-line, particularly Thai ones. That plus the underlying nervousness about using them here! I was in the Bangkok Bank branch telling them their crappy cards would not work on-line, the very reason I had got them... the first girl said I can still use them in the Mall...silly cow. I spent ten minutes with another more capable foxy girl who insisted on telling me 'everything okay'.... The reality was they hadn't set up their on-line validation system yet and preferred to lie to me like I am stupid than tell me it was their issue! That resolved it worked fine for a while... now I am having issues with the Etihad site... and I am sure it is Etihad. I suppose there has to be security to stop me sending 1000s$ to some sweaty Nigerian on a 1980's refurbished PC. Sometimes very frustrating when you know you didn't get the goods, but are unsure if they got your cash!

Have always liked mixed pickles and seek out the cauliflower... love that crunchiness. Has anybody else bought what they thought were pickled cocktail onions in Thailand, only to find they had pickled garlic cloves? -

I don't know whether it is just me, and a consequence of living in Thailand, but I am looking out for lady-boy indicators! -

Areca Lodge, construction noise next door.
jacko replied to The_Fat_Controller's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Yeah I got held up coming down that road by a large truck belching fumes in my face... couldn't get past the damned thing and another one wanted to come back the other way. Traffic snarl-ups, dust (or muck if rainy) noise and pollution for a while down Soi 15 and Buakhao. -

Well I just renewed my Sophon recently. 3000 baht a year, and they tagged on 2 free months to last year. As to deteriorating, I wouldn't say so, if anything I would say the picture quality has, on avarage improved. But still gets fuzzy mid afternoon when the sun is strong. Occasional loss of transmission, as maintenance is done, or some twat steals the cables. They get it fixed though. More Russian channels, and occasionally a DVD gets played with Russian soundtrack or Thai, where it is supposed to be the English Channels. If anything Pattaya One has deteriorated, repeated news items (shit there must be enough going on in Pattaya not to repeat the same News at weekends or Thursdays), and they don't update their information like currency exchange rates and fuel prices.... so why bother. Quite often you get a news report where the video is skipping...... The loss of some channels (Star Plus) and Premiership football is missed, I watch it for News mainly, BBC, Fox and Al Jazeera.... and catch the odd film re-run. The main Thai channels are there with good reception so my missus is happy. For 250 baht a month I think it is okay. (Serves me right, we had rain Sunday and now the picture 'reception' is somewhat poorer).

It's a pity they don't continue on the Bangkok flights to Clark, rather than Hong Kong!

Pattaya Rent a Car - Cheap Car Hire in Pattaya
jacko replied to Catir1972's topic in Transport in Thailand
The link, as it stands, gives me the 'server not found' error. Whether that means the link is erroneous or my DNS doesn't recognise it I am unsure.Adding the 'L' to make http://www.pattayarentacar.com/ into http://www.pattayarentalcar.com/, then I get sent to ak2imgaft.com and remain blank. -

Not for me? I even put an 'L' in there and it still just seemed to hang up. -

I am finding that to be the issue with many of the seafood places I used to use in the area North of Banglamung, near the sea. If not the tour-bus crowd, the locals on their way to Bangkok, perhaps themselves moved along by the tour bus crowds, are filling places up. I think there are better choices South of Pattaya but who wants to sit at traffic lights for ages. (The OP will get Gabor plenty of greens to sate his appetite for them. )

Well they are being put together in Thailand now so, likely a lot cheaper than say a Triumph.
