Actually he tips if they do the tyres and windscreens, not otherwise, exactly as you do. So you must be right there. MM you use a debit card to put 90 baht of Gasohol 91 in the bike or do you use a car these days? In the UK I gotta pump my own gas, there is no chance in hell anyone will put air in my tyres, likely I will have to PAY to use a machine and stand in the rain and do it myself. I have to stand in line to pay some surly sloth behind bullet proof glass a weeks wages for my 40 litres and get an ugly look and sometimes a rejection for a £50 note, that actually is what the overpriced stuff cost and then some. To have a young Thai kid smile at me for 10 baht is refreshing....

You got the solutions above... my TGF came back from her village raving about the ADSL speed her friend had out in the boonies, obviously a telephone line required. You may have to put up with the 'dongles'....yes the speed on 'Edge' or whatever you get is slow, but sometimes out in the villages, where usage is less, it can surprise you. I was swinging in a hammock quite content with the sluggish speed... as you turn native the internet may become less important to you. Plus, you can take this with you wherever you go. When you get there, check around if a neaby neighbour has internet, a trip to Pattaya and return with a wireless modem/router for 2k and gift it to them along with a few beers every week for your access. 3G may well arrive soon, perhaps on a truck right now waiting for Thrappaya and Jomtiem 2nd Rd to be completed!

Could you recommend a Pattaya dentist who will perform 6 month check-up/scrapes? My UK one retired and I really should get back to regular treatment. (Most in Pattaya seem to be into cosmetic stuff only). I tried to get an appointment at some Pattaya Klang recommended place but waiting list was long.

The people in the kiosks will try it on sometimes, don't be misled into thinking Thais are any more honest than other people, they are not. People handling money all try it on one time or another. The girl issuing the tickets for the bus from Bangkok to Pattaya will charge you the motorway price and give you a regular ticket. The change from the bar might be a 100 baht note short... (oo solly sir) The currency exchange kiosks will give less than you should get... ( these arrogant pricks don't apologise when caught out as if it is your fault!) The Thais count it infront of them, falangs have less sense and try to play Mr Cool Big man and swagger off without counting it... I always think back to a bar owner who employed a succession of very cute and apparently honest cashiers over a period of many years... he said every single one of them attempted to cheat him. Cheating a falang isn't the same you see....

Yeah, I drop them 10 baht, not much but it seems to surprise them and bring a smile to their face. They seem to have quit cleaning the windscreen these days, but sometimes I get a free bottle of water.

Be a little more specific..... many serviced apartment may claim cooking facilities, but what you generally get is just 2 electric pan-rings. I think by 'cooker' you perhaps mean you need an oven as well, maybe even a grill. This is less common.

I was just looking at Qatar fares Bkk-Manchester and BKK-LHR (Biz Class) and there are better prices available to London, particularly if you use QR613 (daytime flight.) I hope these bargains will come for Manchester flights, or do they collude and keep them up to protect BAs domestic/ shuttle service?
