The thread title is "Appropriate Dress for Pattaya". Appropriate behaviour is a whole different matter. I would say the "norm" was dress sensible, behave sensible, however we've all seen people, intoxicated and being a pain and taken the odd excursion ourselves. I would admit to taking a tumble on the FLB dance floor when attempting to limbo dance too low.

Just can't stand seeing some of these(usually) loud mouthed slobs clad in their sweaty Singha singlet, "proudly displayed"(it's all paid for ya know!) beer gut, scruffy shorts and flip flops. Usually Brits I'm not afraid to say. I firmly believe that the girls appreciate it when we take the trouble to dress up a bit. Minimum evening wear for me is a smart well pressed short sleeved shirt and clean pressed shorts or slacks. No excuses for wearing dirty kit when there are so many laundries around. No shirt usually indicates a drunk, or a drunk looking for a fight, to be avoided at all costs.

:D Yeah pretty daft I know, but all in good spirit. FWIW (and there may be other views on this), the back scratcher was one of those items that was brought back from overseas, particularly India/Pakistan, and introduced to the UK from service men on completion of their tours within the British Empire particularly in the 1930's. I know for sure that my father brought one back after his five years at RAF Hill Depot Lahore(which was then in India). This is also in the era when service personnel brought back slang words such as Bint (Binti) for "Young girl" and other terminology such as "Shufti" meaning "lets have a look"; "Shufti Kush" being a particular favourite for "Lets have a look at your Fanny" "Pukka"(Hindi) for genuine etc, etc. I believe a lot of this type of slang also originates from Arabic, Middle East sources. There are many more of these still being used by the older generation but can't for the life of me think of any more right now. Anyone know of more ?

I went along this morning, as part of a Royal British Legion presence to the funeral of a ninety two year old member. He was part of The Royal Leicestershire Regiment during the war, and was captured by the Japanese during the fall of Singapore. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Singapore He was one of the many that were forced to work on the construction of the notorious Burma -Thai railway and one of the relatively few who survived to tell the story. One of his old pals was in attendance at the funeral which was a simple graveside ceremony. He turned out to be ninety seven years old, captured at the same time as his chum and also forced to work on that same Railway of Death. It was an honour and a privelige to have his company for the short time I was able to speak to him, a living, breathing part of our history. He didn't look a year older than eighty by the way, a great lad !

Two guys have wasted their time at airports, in this case, London’s Heathrow, by writing down strange names and asking the airport Information Center to locate these people by calling out their names on the airport’s PA system. These guys would then hang out beneath the speakers and record the results. In order to make it as believable as possible, they dressed up as chauffeurs and asked for help finding these people about 40 minutes after a Thai Airways or Air India flight had landed. They acted as if they could not pronounce the names themselves, so as not to reveal the joke, but just handed over a note with the names printed on it and asked the employ at the Information Center. After the fifth recording, they had to leave Heathrow as airport security figured out what was going on. The last recording is from Gatwick. This will be known to some BM's beforehand, but it never fails to make me chuckle. It's the rainy season here in the U.K too MM; otherwise known as a "British Summer". It does have it's upsides though, like when this, almost perfect rainbow appeared outside my place recently. Anyone else got weather pics from your part of the world ?

808pizza.I thoroughly endorse the comments by BM RickToronto. I would stay nowhere else other then The Residence Garden. Don't be taken in by any of the bullshit that it's way out of town; Yes it's away from the hustle, bustle and hubbub of Walking Street and the Booom Boom Boom(pardon the pun!) of late night early morning disco music. The reality is that it's a ten minute walk or a five minute Baht Bus trip to all the action. Funnily enough,on my last trip this April/May I was going up the steps to the Family Mart just across the road when I got my arse pinched by a very attractive young lady who asked me if I wanted Boom Boom ! .I was well spent from the previous night and declined but sometimes the action can probably nearer than you may think. I have attached a few pictures of the place so you can get an idea of the accommodation, which in my opinion is just great, and the girls love it too. There are two swimming pools that are very rarely crowded, the staff are first class, rooms serviced daily and there is excellent food served, at very reasonable rates at the "Captain's Table" on site every evening. An electronic in room safe is a "must have" for me and there is one in every bedroom, behind the closet. The only negative comment I would make, and I think it's a fair one, is that the Food/Breakfast menu has become a bit "tired", and could do with an update ! ..and I told you the girls like it didn't I
