  1. My ticket for upcoming trip this Sunday was booked a week ago so 13 days before travel and was some 20% less than my last trip in 2013. And 45% less than the very first trip I took to BKK. Airlines of course use dynamic pricing that can even change in the same web session . One ass per seat plus a few extras on known no show routes at the best price they can.
  2. Why do people book first then ask if it's any good? Often prepaid making the question even later than it should be.
  3. I just booked with Da and she offered me the FLB rate and a room on 5 facing the pool like before. I have no desire to experiment with hotels and I like the lack of frenetecism. Also being uphilll a wee bit kept the floods away a few trips. My hotel in Bangkok is gone. Well, not gone but changed hands and they generously offer the Club floor at a nearly 100% premium eventhough the guests discover that when they arrive there is not quite a club floor yet. Staying at the Radisson Blu this time for four days at the end. Refund? TIT buster.
  4. I am waiting for them to get back to me for three weeks next month. No FLB rate but I think it is still a fair price. I quite liked the location in 4 visits, not that far and not on top of the noise. I hope it's still kept up and clean and such.
  5. From where to where? Bangkok Oslo New York? 31 inch pitch for that distance. You better be 5 foot two and eyes of blue.
  6. So fly in Business or First and take advantage of this plan. Long haul coach is terrible so a little bit more terrible is no big deal.
  7. That price could have been halved one person each at a number of other hotels. WHy do people prepay for hotels in the 21st century?
  8. Who is Barry Upton and who are the famous celebrity guest singers? Hope not Gary Glitter.
  9. Send PDF files with instructions to print there and if they are to be signed and returned, she can do it using DHL or FedEx.
  10. You should probably say where so others can avoid where Snoopy McSnooperson has added his de facto survey of info only the insane would agree to disclose.

    Visas

With the right lawyer you can start with only a visa exemption to wind up with a retirement visa. Of course if this was PA the idea of spending more than $2 makes that idea impossible.
  12. Instead of reposting the same pictures and bumping all the time consider why nobody has any interest, which might be price, e.g a reduction of 4% ain't much.
  13. There are florists and gift shops in the malls so the first items are like any other city on Earth. Jomtien beach at times other than weekends was not packed when I went there, and it has to be cleaner and less cruddy than Pattaya Beach, hasn't it? P.S. Why not just bring candles in your luggage?
  14. If 335 Baht, $9.50 with a beer is not cheap, how cheap is cheap for a buffet or dinner? Not being critical of the review but I can't recall spending a lot less in an air con place for a dinner and one drink, even the Queen Vic. Which is 370 for the carvery alone.
  15. 45+ pounds is a workout for sure. I think there are threads here on bikes and possibly used bikes on the darkside somewhere as an option and IIRC rentals in Jomtien. I'd like a bicycle next visit (as deadly as that might be, but real early a.m. rides would be OK), so let us know if you find a source.
  16. Do you have a prescription from an endocrinologist? Have you seen one or is the TRT a home-brew sort of thing? Are you doing this for training or measured low testosterone or an attempt at virility via hormones? If the answers are no and no and yes, see a physician and get drugs from a trusted source. Saves you from risky rip-offs.
  17. 65,000 baht minus even 15,000 for a decent place to stay leaves one with 1,600 a day for everything. That can't be much to really enjoy retirement. If the issue is one cannot even have that (to prove to immigration on an income basis) then it would be a less than fruitful existence. 800,000 all at once is likely to be hard to get for many people.
  18. Nope. It's an example of how the Thais tax the hell out of everything imported. The web site for this bike lists the price in India where it is made. It is very heavy so extra exercise.
  19. I think it would be worrisome to try to retire though unable to afford either option of $22,000 in the bank or less than $2,000 month in income. Not the getting past the Thai immigration part being worrisome, (though you have to wonder when people start to get caught with this bribery and fakery), but being able to be self-sustaining with less than the income required.
  20. Sell for 4,800 Baht in India and 50% more in Thailand. There's your import fees and such. Or gross overcharging. Good exercise since it weighs an amazing 20 1/2 kilos. Still for $195 it is not a ton of money. For a month you can get around for $6 a day and either take it home or give it to a poor kid.
  21. They oddly have decided that they want passengers to pay for the class of service vs. give it away for nothing or nearly so. Good for them. Cathay gladly flies with empty seats if not paid for properly as they should.
  22. Another idea since it is fairly easy to open bank accounts (other than in Thailand and a few other countries I spend time in), and should be routine to transfer funds between them, open a second bank account for emergencies. Have that second bank card handy. Also cash advances with no interest charges are possible by pre-funding your credit card so it has a positive balance. Travel with two credit cards, at least one of which is not from the same bank where the fraud might arise. I bring 10 big Amex travellers cheques each trip and don't use them unless an emergency like this. Always
  23. I want to book my fraudulent important paperwork in a wooden box that looks like a poor news stand. Sign me up. Two stools though so quite a posh operation. Vs. the one stool or standing only wooden boxes.
  24. It worked SO well in Bangkok. Threats of fines, license seizure, undercover agents and fuck all different.
