If it is set back to the original image then do the buyer a favour and run Windows Update which will install close to 3 years of updates on a 2010 laptop. That could take hours. OK deal if a bit slow but for web and watching movies not a bad price, maybe closer to $350 would be fairer.

Grocery stores will sell yeast in the same section as flour, sugar and other baking needs. There are several kinds, fast rising, bread machine, regular, in pucks and in powder form. Also a TG with a bad candida infection will be loaded with yeast.

Take camera , or use smartphone? Megapixels?
Grandpollo replied to Obsession's topic in Idle Chit Chat
Not very big prints, but 4X6 would be OK with 3 MP if you could even find a camera that old and that low resolution today. I travel with a Nikon D800 36 MP and a smaller Canon 12 MP for in the pocket when I don't want to lug the DSLR, like on Pattaya streets. If you want to crop a picture much or print 8X10 or larger you'd do poorly with a 3 MP camera. -
Google maps does it fine.

Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles-miles needed
Grandpollo replied to Cinali's topic in Airline Discussion
Not all do. Air Canada cancelled theirs (expiry date). American constantly extends the expiry 18 months each time you have almost any kind of activity so unless you go to ground, they never expire either. -
Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles-miles needed
Grandpollo replied to Cinali's topic in Airline Discussion
They are worth around 2 1/2 cents a mile for a credit card company to buy from the airline so 12,000 is around $300. You can't come up with a hard and fast rule because really the value is predicated on the redemption on an airline. This is a problem you see in North America with "double miles" cards where they never quite say OK, now that you earned the miles here is what a short or long haul flight costs. Hey, what a surprise they are twice as many points on the twice as many point card. Points. com will let people convert points from one airline program to another, usually at horrible rates. There are also "brokers" but here is the risk: if the airline detects you are selling points to brokers, as evidenced by all sorts of flights being booked with those points for people all over the place, they will do two things: Cancel the flights bought with the points, and suspend or terminate the account with the remainder of the points in the account. They have very sophisticated algorithms to detect this type of fraud (they consider it fraud). On AA, which is my airline, 12,000 points costs US$330, and over 15,000 for $412, you get a 4,000 miles bonus. And you can share by transfer to another account by paying a fee (the donor, not recipient). I have nearly a million points so buying them serves no purpose. -
Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles-miles needed

Lots of people give away $300 worth of miles to people so this should be easy. -
I would not use "investing" and "Pattaya real estate" in the same sentence. Buying and living there as a ex-pat is not the same as trying to own and rent and be a landlord.

Pacquiao Rios PPV Fight Nov 24 9 a.m. - Who Shows PPV If Any?
Grandpollo replied to Grandpollo's topic in Sports Talk
Thanks to everyone who replied. I will check a few the day before. -
I see Manny is fighting 9 p.m. on PPV the 23rd so that is 9 a.m. Sunday the 24th. What bars etc. steal (usually) PPV signals for this sort of thing that would even be open at this early hour? Maybe a restaurant or sports bar? I get into Pattaya lunchtime the 22nd but I don't want to wander to every prospect if someone here knows.

Nice Apartment South Pattaya 6000 baht
Grandpollo replied to Vraya's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Opens a page with 30 listings for real estate and all in Thai only. -
I went with the now ex TGF to Wat Chaimongkol the morning of the end of Lent where it was farangs 1 and Thai ladies 900. It's an OK ceremony if a bit packed in there. They all buy little fish and release them in that algae ridden pond on the ground, I suspect to the delight of carnivores already in that pond.

There is an opportunity cost to buying (you could earn $5,000 a year on that $100,000 condo price, which lowers the rental cost by 12,000 Baht a month) and if you get tired of living there, don't want to go through the visa renewals or want to live in Isaan or other northern cities, or Bangkok then you have to dispose of the condo, invariably at a bad time in a saturated market. To Jacko's point above.

Flying from uk in about a week to ten days
Grandpollo replied to chaiyapoon's topic in Airline Discussion
I think you need to find a way faster airplane than one that takes, according to the post title, a week to ten days to get there. That sounds like the Hindenburg. -
Still 120. Frankly unless you have patience to wait in line at the machines (and the lines are worse), get a day pass from the attendant and use that vs. calculating fare trip by trip. A ride will cost at least 30B anyway so the convenience is worth it other than knowing you are just going to one place under 60B and back and that's it. People's perception of the BTS is that it is safer I guess because it is above ground but the subway, the MRT is also safe and covers areas that BTS misses. Super aircon as well, like the BTS trains. Unfortunately two different companies so no transfers or common day pass other than the Rabbit (or Carrot, anyway stored value) card like in Hong Kong. If you are with a Thai (who knows Bangkok) , the deluxe buses are also good. Not the ones you see with 500 people and no windows, there are nicer ones in the city with a cashier on board and a TV and aircon. The routes are impossible to decipher without help though and English, forget it.

If an airline program allows transfers there is a ridiculously large fee which is avoided simply by having them "purchase" the ticket for the friend using their points. If the idea is to fly on them and arrange that fairly soon then just do that. Some airlines require the person to have a list of people they do that for which is limited so check first. CX is one, IIRC. Remember two things no matter how the points are used: one there can be few or no seats for when and where you go although this can be avoided using a higher redemption scheme which is usually double the "normal" points, and two, there are taxes and fees payable that can add up to as much as a low cost ticket (especially in coach), so make sure the points are not wasted by getting a flight but only saving pennies. Also business and first class tickets are a far better deal than coach, on the order of 5 to 8 times the value for perhaps 3-5 times the points.

Mobile broadband in Patts ?
Grandpollo replied to villaman's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
There are also a lot of wi-fi hotspots that are cheap as borscht, e.g. 99 Baht for the entire month. See my earlier post. If you are near a Family Mart (and who isn't?) it is a great deal. You need a cell, not smartphone, to get the code. -
guest house in november at cheap price
Grandpollo replied to n0b0dy's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Soi 6 and Walking Street are perpendicular to each other so the between part is tricky. Why would you book a week for 6 days? Book a hotel for six days then. There is a newer post about someone else looking for cheap digs so read that one. -
You can do it in country. One of the few visa types issued in the country and a lot less hassle than where you live. Medical and police checks are local vs. where you live for starters. A person or more easily, a lawyer can convert a tourist visa or even a visa waiver to the O Retirement type with the immigration authorities. And it is not really multi-entry visa, they sell you (not give you, of course) an reentry permit so you don't lose the right to return on the O-R visa if you leave and return now and then. A multiple entry visa is a visa valid for a time period and with no limit on the number of entries, vs. say a single or double entry visa.

Four posts selling crap. An educated guess. Might not is likely.
