Where's the best places to go for Songkran
Grandpollo replied to Mr_Rabbit's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The best places to go would be: 1. Cambodia 2. Hong Kong 3. Malaysia 4. Indonesia Anywhere where total plonkers don't do the idiocy that is Songkran in Pattaya. -
There is a Pattaya Expats Club that meets at a hotel and which advertises in the Pattaya People Weekly newspaper

Fuel Surcharges v dropping price of oil
Grandpollo replied to Gawd Elpus's topic in Airline Discussion
The fuel surcharge is not a fuel surcharge which is why the amount of it has not varied with the fuel price. Especially in countries where the all in price doesn't have to be advertised. Also other for than a week or so 8 years ago the price has never been US$150/bbl. -
Desensitizing Lube/Spray

Nobody should use local anesthetics for anal sex. It is dangerous indeed. No TG needs to freeze her throat to give a hummer anyway. -
I she (one hopes, a she) is holding a basketball in one hand in the photo, find a smaller gal.

Pattaya Kamagra with free Home Delivery! Quality products
Grandpollo replied to pattayakamagra's topic in The Market
If he is in Pattaya and you go there or order for where you are how is he importing drugs? And in the USA you can import 90 days of non controlled drugs so you are not getting arrested either. The fact that technically Kamagra is counterfeit in most western countries and might be stopped by customs is not a crime but a risk of loss. -
Paying deposits, all in advance or all on arrival is crazy. Good hotels do not need to do that. Guests should not do it either. I use Hotels.com and prepay when I am in a McDonalds on wi-fi and the hotel is 30 minutes away, because I know I am arriving and they have good prices and free stays every 10. Pattaya, the Rg has no such requirement so stay there or something similar. What if you hate it, or it's full and prepaid and you have to get the money back or some other issue?

It's less than $1 for the whole run from Nonthaburi (you can see the Bangkok Hilton there) to Sathom. The Blue tourist boats are 40 Baht but don't go that far north (and you can go even farther north than Nonthaburi on the regular boats) . I think we paid 15 or 20 Baht. I did a tour by van to Ayutthaya and coming back to Bangkok at 5 p.m. was going to be brutal on the roads so we stopped in Nonthaburi and took the boat down the river , better view and much faster. Then the BTS back to Sukhumvit for whatever that cost which is not much.

From the title I thought this was an anal sex thread. Nope.

You know that eating at a restaurant then having the scours might not be related to contaminated food (usually E.coli, sometimes Salmonella) but can be due to all sorts of reactions to things and I think people are far too quick to accuse an establishment of "food poisoning" when a sensitive gut might be the culprit. It can also be acquired elsewhere and manifest later or the next day.

This claim is highly doubtful for business class on Etihad or any airline.

Register your Thai Mobile Number or Lose it !
Grandpollo replied to Fireman Sam's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The cell companies asked for three months extension and are around 80% complete, not knowing fully how many are defunct, lost etc., and will neer be as a result. I guess the government will dole out extensions a month at a a time. Mine expires after each trip so just a matter of getting a new SIM next trip. Interesting how the Happy Tourist SIM is "free internet" for 7 or 15 days and the 15 day one costs 300 baht more than the 7 day one which is 299 Baht, and only 100 Baht is included on each card for calls. Free means 300 Baht. Don't let the girls know about this definition. LT -
That is a huge load on the moto. I saw a Dominican once with two propane tanks on his moto and another one with a built in dishwasher on his lap. Both at highway speeds.

I'd go to a hopital vs. a clinic unless there is one which does this as a speciality and in Pattaya that is not likely. I recommend PhyaThai Hospital in Sriracha because they have a great facility and an ex-pat who will arrange everything for you including an interpreter on arrival. See their website and the expat link, and contact Colin. They offer quite a lot of monthly checkup specials as well which might tie into this exam. Unless you have had polyps discovered and removed, every 5 years after 50 is more the norm than biennially.

Wow 6 a.m. flight means at the airport at 4, so you can stay anywhere in Bangkok and get there in 20 minutes. Or less. $160 is insane for a Bangkok hotel. You can stay at the President Palace on the Club Floor on Suk/11 for usually about Bht 2,500 through Asiatravel.com or the hotel's own site, especially if prepaid, and prepay is Ok if you do it in Pattaya an hour before you leave for Bangkok.

Customers should not have to specify in the booking form that they want a driver with a white board with their name on it (note it says they do have to do this). That needs to be standard, or how do they find one person and car in the zoo that is the arrivals area?

I use Asiatravel.com for Bangkok and sometimes Hong Kong bookings, because they have actual humans who read, write and speak English, they have a physical office in Bangkok (and HK also.) and the prices are as good as anywhere else. If you need support you can actually reach effective and competent people who can communicate.

Nitrous Oxide for dental treatment
Grandpollo replied to soidoggy's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
I hope nobody uses NOX which is one of nitric oxide or nitrogen dioxide, neither very healthy. The former is similar to nitrates for heart disease and the latter is a deadly toxin. N2O, there's the ticket. I'd not trust s Pattaya dentist with N2O unless I had a good understanding of their credentials or there is an anaesthetist present. You can suffocate on N2O. Make sure there is a pulse oxymeter on if you do find one and ideally an ECG machine. Bangkok Pattaya Hospital has an article on the use of nitrous so one could infer they offer that as a service. A hospital would be -
Are we seeing a rise in assaults?
Grandpollo replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Say even 5 a week, 250 a year, several million tourists over that year, odds are not that high. 1/100th of 1% mugged. Add in the time, circumstances, drunkenness, behaviour and maybe it is not very high at all for the average person. I'd worry more about accidents between cars and pedestrians, scooters, illness and animals. -
It's hard to imagine in 2011 model year in any country that airbags are considered extras.

Well luckily I could give two shits what you like or not, or love or hate. Here's a tip for a longer life - put your oars in where asked.

What difference can it make to you or anybody if it is 2+3 or 3+3? Really. If you look at a seat map if it was 3+3 you'd have to hop like a kangaroo because there would be no aisle at all. Maybe they used that in their computations?

Automatic Immigration Clearance Machines at Bangkok Airports
Grandpollo replied to jacko's topic in Expat Issues
With Global Entry you don't even go into immigration at all and you have expedited exit from customs also. And usually TSA Precheck for security. Automated passport readers are not close in terms of what you get for speed with GE. -
They do focus on the most ill-prepared, impoverished, drunken idiots in Thailand mind you. I now have a VPN so I can watch BBC iPlayer. The back episodes were freely available on a few of the web services. Frankly after 5 of them I can't see them getting much different.

I bought a Nokia CAP (cheap ass phone) at Tukcom, with a SIM and 100 Baht prepaid credit and the number taped to the back of the phone for me for 900 Baht. the ladyboy clerk was very nice, converted to phone to English (the default menus are Thai) and tested a call to her phone. One of the phone counters right at the top of the escalator to the immediate right. Very friendly and helpful. Either a TG with me or the 7-11 clerks would top it up for me as needed because the slips they gave me from AIS were all in Thai. And a TG or 7-11 clerk can add minutes to a phone is 3 seconds fla
