  1. Several on PA reporting they've been given the form to fill out this past week. Here's the form from TV. Foreign_National_Information.pdf
  2. If anyone is up for a fun mountain bike ride this Saturday and Sunday, the Bangkok Hash House Bikers will be hosting a ride from Horseshoe Point. Riders of all skill levels are welcome. Party with food, beer and softies after the ride. Here's a link to their FB page and a link to their website. Ride Details: Hares, Yannick 'U Bastard' T, Remy P., Wolfgang 'Shitty Shitty Bang Bang' M., Suparatana M. Location, Horseshoe Point, Pattaya The Rides: Saturday:- Pay Hash Cash at 12:20 to 12:50, Roll-off at 13:00. Sunday:- Pay Hash Cash at 9:20 to 9:50, Roll-off at 10:00. This is what the trail looked like last year. Expect something similar this year. Note there is usually a turkeys and eagles split before the difficult section for those that want an easier ride.
  3. You were conned. Which immigration office did this to you?
  4. Progress update from this afternoon. Work on new overhead sections. View to the south. Work continues on the new pedestrian bridge. Rebar for retaining walls. A few pics of the digger for the retaining walls in action. Behind the scenes look at what's happening on the north end of the construction site. The color, geometry, lighting and shadows of this scaffolding would make for some artistic pics if it was more accessible. Not much to see on the south end of the site. Looks like they're beginning to dig out the approach.
  5. They were doing a bit of dredging at the low spot on Suk close to Pattaya Tai. Not sure how much that will help with easing the flooding that occurs at the spot with every heavy rain. Note in the picture below how the drainage ditch constricts to less than a third of the width. Plus it has the support structure for one of the highway lights planted right in the middle. Another fine example of excellence in Thai engineering.
  6. I might have been a little quick on the shutter button before as I see the hospital wasn't quite finished with the speed bump/pedestrian/wheel chair ramp upgrade. The finishing touches have now been added. One of which is a nice, glossy paint job on the concrete surfaces. No grit was added to the paint so when it rains be very careful crossing as it's sure to be as slippery as ice. Of course this may have been planned as the wipe outs are sure to provide a steady stream of new customers to the hospital. They also removed the planters blocking the wheel chair ramp access. But the Thais being Thai decided not to let the empty space go to waste and instead planted in its place a nice row of comfortable chairs for those wishing to watch wheel chair users figure out how they're going to get by. In the end though the wheel chair ramp pictured above is superfluous as there is one more conveniently placed. Finally, I'm puzzled as to why they've left in place this odd rectangular piece of concrete that is directly in the path of those entering the parking garage.
  7. If a person only had your banking details, then yes all they could do is send money to the account. But remember, the immigration form also has passport number, photo and other personal information. If you're still ok with disclosing all that info to immigration, I draw your attention to another quote from the article that demonstrates how well they protect that personal information.
  8. So according to this quote they consider social media details more private than banking details. Bunch of loonies running the asylum.
  9. Yes, the cut through is still open. Just be careful of wheel chair users wandering about trying to figure out how to get into the parking garage.
  10. And notice too how instead of extending the railing a bit to be even with the vertical post they instead mark the post with yellow and black warning tape. After all it's not like anyone's going to want to use that small gap between the railing and post. The mind boggles.
  11. Pattaya City Hospital just finished elevating the section of the road between the hospital entrance and parking garage. Not a bad idea as it slows passing traffic down and makes it easier for patients to handle the height differential between the entrance and floor of the parking garage. Now being a hospital it's imperative they consider those in wheel chairs. So very thoughtful of them to have a wheel chair ramp on the hospital side. But on the parking side, that's quite a high step down for ambulatory patients to manage let alone those in wheel chairs. Not to worry though, wheel chair users have a conveniently placed, and easily accessible ramp to the right. Unfortunately when they finish their roll down the ramp they'll be faced with this... Another fine example of Thai engineering.
  12. Same here. Multiple trips from and back to Thailand and I've never not received a stamped,TM6 departure card.
  13. Good to know they accepted the 75 day old income affidavit.
  14. No matter how long, and how many times I've used a car service, I always confirm via email a day or two before the pickup date. Too many ways for the reservation to get lost, missed, forgotten, whatever. Confirmation email serves as a reminder to the car service and provides a bit of peace of mind for myself.
  15. Couple of pics from yesterday. Starting to see the tops of the low areas on the NE side of the lake. And the small land bridge on the SW side is again becoming visible.
  16. Decided on my bike ride yesterday to check out the progress of the new Bang Lamung Exercise Park. Was surprised to discover the park has a bike path. No signs as of yet to give a hint it exists, but the entrance to the path is left of the main park entrance. With all the trees that have been planted I imagine in a few years time it will offer a fair bit of shade. Small play area for the kids. While the path isn't long in length, it has several diversions to keep it interesting. Other than a couple of workers watering, I had the park entirely to myself. Don't imagine that will be the case for much longer, but quite peaceful and quiet while I was there. One can hope there will ever be enough water again in Map Phrachan reservoir to float the swim platform. Apparently there are plans to extend the path to the north And the south Once the crowds come this might be an interesting corner to kick back with a beer and watch the confusion. Park also has a nice football pitch. Perhaps someone versed in Thai could translate this sign. My guess is it's telling those interested the park cost 19 million baht and construction started in 2015 and will finish in 2017. Edited to add map of bike path from GPS log. Wouldn't want anyone to get lost
  17. Late 1 April joke. Actually, someone started a thread on TV about the underpass charging a toll. Well written and suckered quite a few into believing it as true, but then again TIT where the absurd can and does become reality.
  18. Sorry, I usually avoid shopping malls so unlikely I'll be making a visit to Harbor Mall for a pictorial review. And yes, it is hot out there, but I braved the heat this afternoon to snap a few pics of the rebuild progress. Someone with engineering experience check out the construction method they're using for the stands. In particular note how they cut the vertical load bearing I beam to allow for the seating support structure to pass through. My uninformed opinion is the use of just a weld to join the two support structures is destined to fail due to weight and vibration of people moving around the stands. Reports had the fire starting when an a/c unit exploded after it had been serviced. Not sure how that's possible, but hope the new ones going in are rated explosion proof. Shot of the temporary stadium they erected in the back parking lot. I live about 150 m from the place and I can attest they have PA system cranked to 11. Fortunately they're done by 10 pm.
  19. Owner stated in news reports he didn't have insurance.
  20. Now that they've put up the new walkover bridge, the view to the south is spoiled. Not really much to spoil in the view to the south as the action is now to the north. Looks like the underpass roof passed the load test. Toll gate for the south entrance. Looks like the digging out on the south side has gone as far as it can for now.
  21. 'Bite Me Black Coq'
  22. Another photo update on the progress
  23. Old thread, but seems as good a place as any to provide updated information. Father Ray Foundation has a nice 25m pool for lap swimming at a fair price, 60B/day or 900B/month.
  24. Looks like one of the new Automatic Thai Masturbators
