And photos of the work going on to the south of the pedestrian bridge. Looks like construction has started on a new police box at the top of Klang. Shouldn't be long now before the new pedestrian bridge is open. The workers on the south entrance were a little put out seeing a farang come flying by on a mtn bike. But I got my shots and quickly exited so all was good.

Photo update from this afternoon. First shots of the work north of the pedestrian bridge. Not much to see on top. But with a mtn bike and riding like I belong there we can get a peek of the work going on below.

Good info. I'll add that using direct deposit of Soc Sec to a US bank, you can then use ACH to transfer money whenever you need it to the New York branch of Bangkok Bank. For those that missed it, good thread on International transfers (American Bank to Thai Bank)

Progress update from this afternoon. Work on new overhead sections. View to the south. Work continues on the new pedestrian bridge. Rebar for retaining walls. A few pics of the digger for the retaining walls in action. Behind the scenes look at what's happening on the north end of the construction site. The color, geometry, lighting and shadows of this scaffolding would make for some artistic pics if it was more accessible. Not much to see on the south end of the site. Looks like they're beginning to dig out

They were doing a bit of dredging at the low spot on Suk close to Pattaya Tai. Not sure how much that will help with easing the flooding that occurs at the spot with every heavy rain. Note in the picture below how the drainage ditch constricts to less than a third of the width. Plus it has the support structure for one of the highway lights planted right in the middle. Another fine example of excellence in Thai engineering. -

I might have been a little quick on the shutter button before as I see the hospital wasn't quite finished with the speed bump/pedestrian/wheel chair ramp upgrade. The finishing touches have now been added. One of which is a nice, glossy paint job on the concrete surfaces. No grit was added to the paint so when it rains be very careful crossing as it's sure to be as slippery as ice. Of course this may have been planned as the wipe outs are sure to provide a steady stream of new customers to the hospital. They also removed the planters blocking the wheel chair ramp access. But the Thais be -
Immigration puts personal details online for all to see

If a person only had your banking details, then yes all they could do is send money to the account. But remember, the immigration form also has passport number, photo and other personal information. If you're still ok with disclosing all that info to immigration, I draw your attention to another quote from the article that demonstrates how well they protect that personal information. -

So according to this quote they consider social media details more private than banking details. Bunch of loonies running the asylum. -

Yes, the cut through is still open. Just be careful of wheel chair users wandering about trying to figure out how to get into the parking garage. -

And notice too how instead of extending the railing a bit to be even with the vertical post they instead mark the post with yellow and black warning tape. After all it's not like anyone's going to want to use that small gap between the railing and post. The mind boggles. -
Pattaya City Hospital just finished elevating the section of the road between the hospital entrance and parking garage. Not a bad idea as it slows passing traffic down and makes it easier for patients to handle the height differential between the entrance and floor of the parking garage. Now being a hospital it's imperative they consider those in wheel chairs. So very thoughtful of them to have a wheel chair ramp on the hospital side. But on the parking side, that's quite a high step down for ambulatory patients to manage let alone those in wheel chairs. Not to worry though,

No matter how long, and how many times I've used a car service, I always confirm via email a day or two before the pickup date. Too many ways for the reservation to get lost, missed, forgotten, whatever. Confirmation email serves as a reminder to the car service and provides a bit of peace of mind for myself.

Bang Lamung Exercise Park - Bike Path
forcebwithu posted a topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Decided on my bike ride yesterday to check out the progress of the new Bang Lamung Exercise Park. Was surprised to discover the park has a bike path. No signs as of yet to give a hint it exists, but the entrance to the path is left of the main park entrance. With all the trees that have been planted I imagine in a few years time it will offer a fair bit of shade. Small play area for the kids. While the path isn't long in length, it has several diversions to keep it interesting. Other than a couple of workers watering, I had the park entirely to myself. Don't ima -
Late 1 April joke. Actually, someone started a thread on TV about the underpass charging a toll. Well written and suckered quite a few into believing it as true, but then again TIT where the absurd can and does become reality.

Fire At Muay Thai Stadium

Sorry, I usually avoid shopping malls so unlikely I'll be making a visit to Harbor Mall for a pictorial review. And yes, it is hot out there, but I braved the heat this afternoon to snap a few pics of the rebuild progress. Someone with engineering experience check out the construction method they're using for the stands. In particular note how they cut the vertical load bearing I beam to allow for the seating support structure to pass through. My uninformed opinion is the use of just a weld to join the two support structures is destined to fail due to weight and vibration of people mo -
