Well, I'm glad my fares to and from LOS are paid for (travelling over Thursday). The way this middle east war is escalating, oil prices should soon rocket skywards very soon. Or, at least in Australia....

I haven't been there either, but last year I transited through Hong Kong (via Cathay Pacific) and, due to the plane being late into HK, I missed my connection to Bangkok. The airline was great and had me on the next connection and my baggage was first off and transferred quickly. The only problem I had was having to wait in the terminal for 2 hours. I didn't have any Chinese currency and (of course) all ATMs are outside the security area. I found a bar that had a large Guinness sign and, as I was thirsty, I thought I'd have a pint or two. It was a Gordon Ramsay place. I asked a server if I could buy 2 pints of the good stuff on my credit card and get the drinks separately. She said, "Of course". I ordered and paid at the end. It wasn't until I was on my connecting flight to Thailand that I bothered to check the invoice. It cost me 60 Australian dollars for the 2 pints. Bloody Hell! Won't go there again. Pudong probably won't be as bad, or will it?🤔

Was it very early, or is the town deserted? -
Ah, getting better by the day.

Man, I love those whole barbecued squid and eat them almost every day when in Thailand. -

Wow, I'd love to restore it. May have been stolen and dumped though, seeing as it is still plated. -
Neither do I, however I checked to make sure it wasn't me and mine was a laughing head. Cannot see what would have upset that member, unless he is the Turkish chef....🤔😆

I stayed at the 'purple palace' (Sawasdee Siam) only once, with a couple of maters. We found it bloody awful and the breakfast almost inedible. It was also pretty full of really cheapskate Indians and Russians. It had a fairly good pool and some of the Russians (and I repeat "some") were really fuckable in their tiny bikinis, but the rest were obese. We moved on the 2nd day. This was maybe 10 years ago. Never a 3 star hotel back then.

Pattaya Area Construction Projects

Well, here in south-east Australia we received a weather alert for most of Thailand but, particularly in the north-east, for flooding danger.... -
Thanks for that - I rarely go out to the market due to intense heat and, generally, I only want clothes/shoes. I will put that in my (weakening) memory bank.

I was in Hua Hin in late April, but I was with my Thai 'wife' and my 2 daughters (16 & 22). I didn't visit the fun night areas in the dark, but had a look in daylight, so I can't comment on that. It is good to see some nigh photos and read your thoughts about the areas. This trip we stayed at the Hisea Hotel, which is only a few minutes walk to the Hilton, Soi Bintabaht, and also the Night Markets and only a couple of hundred metres to the Naval wharf. My girls wanted to visit the markets every night, so we ate there on 3 nights (in the seafood restaurants where you choose your meal from the arrays of fresh seafood, and have the food delivered to your table upstairs. Bloody fantastic and much cheaper than the seafoods along the beachfront. We did go to a beach just north of 'Monkey Mountain' (Wat Khow Takiab) for a swim, and also went up the hill to have a look at all the bloody thieving little buggers running all over town. That day we had another seafood feast at one of the restaurants just at the foot of the mountain, near the fishing boat creek, and it was great also. Another day we visited a place called (I think) Siam Venezia - a lovely place to take photos in amazing settings. I love Hua Hin.

I expected a couple of reds from members of this forum, but I personally think it is funny and that is regardless of what your political leaning is.

The one I saw a while ago said 'Fox News' and another (in Australia) said 'Sky News'. I guess you can change it to suit your own whims and biases....

Looks a bit 'poky' and with nowhere to lay out your suitcase, but obviously quite a nice (new) hotel. -
Brilliant - will have to visit there next month. Thanks for the great photos.
