"Deadly crash highlights dangers to Thailand tourists"
keyman replied to Trvlr's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
in the UK there is a new scam whereby someone flashes their lights to indicate to you that they will let you out, then deliberately hit you! It's known as flash for cash. When a car flashes their lights the ONLY thing it means is their lights work! I was told when riding your bike, even in the UK, treat everyone as if they are trying to kill you and develop a bubble of safety around you, so that when someone suddenly pulls out on you, you had already anticipated it. Moreso in Thailand. It's never stopped me having fun on a bike though!! KM -
"Pattaya's leading bike rentals" "a New Motorbike rental business in Pattaya ," How does that work, then? A new business but already ahead of the pack?????? KM

They dont release those seats for pre-booking as far as I recall, as they cannot allocate them to children or the infirm. if there is an emergency then the people in those seats need to help release the doors. if you pay the budget price, ie not accruing airmiles, then they wont give you an option on the exit seats. This is only based on my experiences, so dont quote me as gospel! KM

I always turn up early for my flight and at check in I ask if they can change my seat for one with extra legroom. More often than not they will give me a seat by the exit doors, so no seat in front of you and you can stretch out. It's worth hanging around the airport for a couple of extra hours if it means I get more legroom for a 11 hour flight! KM

I don't recall seeing a lift and from what I recall of the reception area I don't think there is one. KM

Soi 1 & Soi 2, Any Construction work & Payment?
keyman replied to python's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
There's a lot of construction being carried out at the start of Beach Road for a few hundred yards. They appear to be widening the road. I doubt it would bother anyone down that end of the town at night, but daytime it causes traffic problems and probably a lot of dust, along with construction traffic trundling around and may or may not use Sois 1, 2 or 3? Oh Gabor Gabor. You're such a woose behind the keyboard. I'm in Pattaya now. Give me a time and place and I'm quite happy to meet and discuss my knowledge and experience of moderating. Are you man enough? Bring as many friends as you deem necessary, it bothers me not, but at the end of the day, be a man. Keyman

'My regards to your wife' when she is no friend of yours (anyones wife) is like a veiled threat along the same lines of 'I know where you live'. On their own they are innocent remarks and offend nobody at all. Said in these contexts everyone can see it is not a straightforward comment. Once rumbled the poster tries to defend the indefensible. Just for background info only, I moderate a forum (nothing thai related) and we try to keep the rules short and as simple as possible. We cannot regulate every sentence written on a forum with a new rule, so we make simple rules and then use common sens

I've seen some of those as well, even using Harley tractors, however that is a whole different ball game when the bike has fallen on you and you are not in a position to get any leverage!! KM

I view via the 'new content' button, but then when I click on a 'preview this topic' button it either ignores the action or jumps up to the top of the page, but doesn't open the topic! It's been like that since yesterday for me. KM -

Any suggestions for restaurant with seaview
keyman replied to groover's topic in Restaurants and food
Don't agree with the sewerage smell at Rim Talay. We ate there last week and pass it virtually every day and don't notice any 'unnatural' aromas. There is a large drain next to it which used to be pretty pungent but they've been working on it and ordinarily there is no issue. I agree there may be when the sewerage system is overloaded due to the rains, but that could be said of many establishments around the town, including PBG! Just my opinion, of course KM -
Any suggestions for restaurant with seaview
keyman replied to groover's topic in Restaurants and food
Rim Talay Restaurant is right on the beach at Wongamat. Naklua Soi 18. Just head towards Naklua from the Dolphin roundabout and after about a mile you'll see a big sign on the left directing you to it. If you get off a baht bus there and walk down the road about 400 metres or so. The road will bear round to the right with a narrower road going straight on, take this road as it takes you down to the beach and the restaurant. They also have a free bike/trike thingy with seats for 4/6 at that point to take you there and afterwards will take you back to the main road. I ate there last week and t -
Amir Khan is fighting in LA tonight in what is described as a 'must win' battle, having lost his last two fights. Does anyone know a decent bar that will be showing it tomorrow and what time? Anyone fancy meeting up for a beer to watch it? Should be a good scrap! KM

2 years ago I had to change my Thai Airway return ticket and bring forward the date. Went into Beach Road office and they changed it at no cost and got me the 'exit' seat with the extra legroom too. They may not have charged me as, at the time, I was bandaged from ankles to thigh and shoulders to wrists due to a scuba diving incident and they took pity on me!! KM

Gary I think you missed the part about my travel insurance DOES cover me for medical cover. i know I'm not bullet proof, but I am an experienced biker who rides thousands of miles a year on a much bigger bike than a 125. I'm also experienced in riding in Patts as well. I've already ran a thread about biking in Patts - this one is purely about the insurance, but thanks for your contribution. CT, thanks for your help and I'd appreciate it if you come up with the details of how to get it. KM

Err, Poolhustler is who I rent from, so the first statement is from him! My travel insurance covers me up to 125cc bikes for medical and personal liability, hence I don't go for the huge bikes like the 150cc's CT, where can I get that cover from and can I get it for a bike I'm renting rather than owning? Thanks guys KM
