If you take some Thai girls out to a club, they are thinking you are doing it for you and them to have a good time. As such, you should expect them to have fun and speak together. As you are in Thailand, you should expect them to speak Thai. Also, I don't think you need to be the center of attention. As I said above, if the girl you are with for the night totally ignores you, that is another matter and I could see your frustration.

If you are sitting there with 2 or 3 Thai girls, its extremely likely that one if not all are lacking in English skills. So to hold a conversation in English is going to be "rude" to the non-english speakers. How many times do you see a few english speaking guys with one of them having a barfine that knows little English and the two guys are chatting away in English? Is that not rude? When I am out with Thai people, I have no problem if they speak their native language; in fact, I think it shows hubris to expect otherwise while in their country. I have a friend here in the stat

Last few trips I stayed at the Tara Court between Pattaya and Jomtien, which is very nice in terms of quality, has a nice pub, and other golfers are usually staying there (http://www.taracourt.net/). Surfing around a few days ago on Orbitz, I saw a fare of $1,275 all in from JFK for March. The times are good too, leaving at 11 pm and arriving Bangkok at 7 am, which saves a vacation day IMO and give you a full day in Thailand upon arrival. I also like the night flight aspect relative to getting to sleep. One stop in Doha, but only for 1.5 hours. I haven't used Qatar previously, but Skytrax ranks them as a 5 star airline, and apparently they have some of the roomiest economy seats and very good IFE screens and content. Good advice, I would just add that I usually keep an ATM card on me and one in the hotel safe, just in case something like this happens. When I remember, I email bank/CC Telephone #s (as well as other emergency #s) to myself before a trip, in case something happens I can just pop online to get them. I would feel nervous leaving that much cash in any safe.
