Also, I would probably have to sustain taxable events to separate out the 800K baht. Silly when I have the income stream.
-
Probably premature to duck and cover. Having the required monthly income and good proof thereof, I hope I don't have to tie up $24K in the bank.

I got to crawl around a Soviet T-55 tank once (in Hawaii, thanks for asking). Soviet tankers had to be short.

Hotel balcony falls - suicide or accident?

Some condos (View Talay 2 for example), you're not going over the rail by accident. -
Hotel balcony falls - suicide or accident?

Ponder me this. How is it that going to an ATM would allow you to access more money than using your debit card as a credit card? -
Is the Oasis still open?

Made my 90 day report online yesterday and it was approved late today. This was in the advertised 7 to 15 day window before the due date. It worked fine on Chrome. Also, this was the first report after a trip outside Thailand.

One of my candidates for best flight would have been on the upper deck of an Eva 747 and that was on an economy ticket.
-
Worst was a beat up old Eva combi 747. The seat backs were low rise, the movie was on a central screen but my sound plug wasn't working. They didn't want me to turn on the reading light because of the movie and I did not have an e-reader or ipod at that point. I was prepared to stand, or collapse trying, for 7 hours till we got to Taipei. Military transports had been more comfortable. I did not ask for it but the flight attendant found a saint in an exit row who agreed to change seats with me. If I had not determined online that it would a different aircraft going back, I would have boug

Made a day trip there a few years ago with the GFE provider. Made for a nice day. We were sitting on the bottom deck of one of those ferries and it was rather choppy, enough that I was figuring out a go to hell plan.

Just saw "Mile 22." Knew the reviews were not good but it is supposedly set in Southeast Asia and stars Mark Wahlberg. It falls in the atrociously bad but watchable category due to more or less continuous shoot em up action and has the saving grace of only beng 90 minutes. Story line is preposterous and it was definitely not filmed in Southeast Asia.

New rules being enforced or just unlucky guys?.
nkped replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
You need to have your passport, or at least be well advised to have it, to board a plane, to change money or to check into a hotel. At Bangkok Hospital-Pattaya, they will want to see it the first time you go there, and, possibly, if you are inpatient. When that happened, they were happy with my Thai DL. I should say that Bangkok Hospital-Rayong managed just fine a few years ago when I arrived there not under my own power and not in possession of my passport or a Thai DL. They were most appreciative of my credit card as was I. Like Jacko, I have never been asked for my passport on the s -

Perhaps, but a few years ago I saw an attempted neck chain snatch by a guy on a motorbike. His target was a young Thai guy on the back of a moving baht bus in the middle of the day coming up on Central Festival. Timing was just little off, but he didn't crash. -
http://thelimopattaya.com/rates/ still lists Utapao as a destination.

I had forgotten (almost) how unpleasant recovery from a spinal block for the surgery was. It was fully effective for stopping any pain from the cutting but then I had to lay there on my back like a sack of potatoes for several hours. Later, a friend with a lot more experience with lower body surgery, shot up in Vietnam, said always opt for a general--either you wake up or you don't.

Earlier this week, I apparently left my US ATM debit card in an ATM. Didn't even realize until the next day when I reached for it at the Villa Market. Determined I was going to have to call the bank which I did Wednesday night. Great connection but giving my address over the phone was a real joy. Express mail, no charge to me. Called last night to get the tracking number. Got the tracking number, Federal Express thought they would deliver on 20 August. It showed up today, the 18th. Only if everything worked that well.

A Legacy of Spies by le Carre is good. The main character is in our age range. If you like/can tolerate John Grisham, The Rooster Bar has an interesting premise.

Thirty years ago, recovery from inguinal hernia repair was a bitch. One night the phone rang and I jerked because I was almost asleep. Thought I had split myself open, it hurt so bad. It was a wrong number.

What to do if your Luggage doesn't arrive in BKK
nkped replied to Butch's topic in Airline Discussion
Had it happen a couple of years ago due to a very tight connection at Seoul Incheon so it was not a big surprise. I forget all the details but thanks to the smart phone, I had the address of View Talay 2A in Thai. The bags showed up the next day. At that, Tik at Dancewatchers said the driver called her because he was at View Talay 1. -
Right turn without green right turn arrow
nkped replied to nkped's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I always marvel at the creation of additional right turn lanes as needed. In the US, someone would open fire. -
Ponder me this guys. You're at an intersection with traffic signals. The light turns green for straight ahead traffic. The right turn arrow will eventually come on but at intersection in Thailand it will be a while. Very occasionally there will be an extended gap in the oncoming traffic but almost no one ever turns right until the right turn arrow comes on. Yes, I know there is the risk of a 150kph motorcycle coming over the horizon but the risk of death doesn't deter a lot of other more dangerous maneuvers. Is there an actual traffic law, but, again, how is that a deterrent to a Thai dr

Discovery Channel will have a special tonight (July 23) at 20:55/8:55pm about the cave rescue of the youth soccer team. That is channel 156 on True Visions or 562 in Thai. It will be replayed on 29 July at 21:50.

8 Months Total - 2 Entries (Tourist Visa) - Reporting?
nkped replied to aldriglikvid's topic in Expat Issues
Seems to be a major divergence between the requirements for a retirement visa and a retirement extension in regards to finances. -
I was thinking of the plumber's bill.

Came back from Suvarnabhumi on Sunday with the Limo Pattaya. The driver told me the police now have speeding cameras. Drive faster than 120kph and they send you a ticket to pay a fine.
