It was 10 years ago and I won't claim perfect memory. I don't remember a lot of leg room. I do remember an old fashion low rise seat back which offered no support for my head as the top of the seat was even with the middle of my neck. There were other things as well.

No, but I would be very hesitant about any economy class seat on UAL.
-
Glad you liked it. I found it so awful, I walked out after about 30 minutes.

Only Airbus jumbo I have flown was with China Air A340 and that was very nice. Best economy class seat and service was on the upper deck of an Eva Air 747-400. Worst economy class seat by a large margin was an Eva Air 747 combi. Had better trips sitting on troop seats on military transport aircraft.

True Visions (satellite, not cable strictly speaking) I'm getting two flavors of TV access (it's complicated) with their platinum package and internet for 2,677 a month. Knock it down to one TV stream and that would lower the bill at least 535 baht a month. For browsing, the internet is fine. For streaming radio (not video), it drops off frequently and I switch the phone to 4g rather than wifi.

LAX is no great joy to transit but I would probably pick the A380 out of curiosity. FWIW, the quietest plane I have flown on was the 787.

No TM.30 required for the residence certificate on 7 February.

I wonder what they see as their target customer base. In the U.S. and western focused Korean restaurants in Korea, they start with beef, bulgogi and galbi, along with chicken, fish and various dishes with noodles along with many vegetables and industrial strength kimchee. Not so much pork.

February is African-American History month. Not a defense but possibly an explanation. Those who greatly worried by this may want to check again next month.

For bites and grins I went to the Qatar Airways site and checked for routing and fares to the U.S. Pacific northwest. Somewhat to my surprise it returned itineraries. The price wasn't bad, but the transit times came in at 48 hours plus. No thanks.

My new 5 year DL purports to be a "licence". I'm reasonably certain the previous 2 year document was a "license". A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

Gentlemen, for the majority of people who have to enter a number in that block on the TM.6, it will be a visa number.
-
Apparently this was known to be coming for a while, but on Sunday, I encountered the new TM.6 arrival/departure card upon my return from a short trip to Singapore. It has some improvements. You no longer have the one letter per block spacing which made it impossible to actually enter a Thai address. Even more important, the departure card is now a short stub which fits in the passport without folding. I have my reentry permit, latest arrival stamp and departure card on facing pages. And for the paranoids, the reverse once again calls for some information.

Just finished listening to the audio book through Audible. Well suited for that format.

I have my third trip coming up with no real prospect of a 4th before my next extension. As efficient as they are at immigration, avoiding a visit to Soi 5 is well worth 800 baht.

The last one rolled off the line in 1961. I would be reasonably certain they have been re-engined multiple times.

Once landing at Minneapolis-St Paul, the winds were quite gusty and I had the impression that the pilot had to fly it into the ground.
-
Growing up, we lived under a B-52 training route. Having one of them drive through at 500 feet was noisy and impressive. A few years later, I had the opportunity to crawl through one on the ground--gee whiz opportunity for the young guys. The crew space was quite cramped.

One for the collective. From what I can gather from the BBC and other semi reliable sources, in the UK, one goes to hospital or to university. By contrast in the U.S., people go to the hospital or a hospital. Much the same with university, although "the" is usually associated with the name of a particular university. However, keeping in mind that a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, we do go to college or jail (well, no, it's not actually either or). Whereof this divergence?

The crticisms of the Dunkirk movie are valid but I found it watchable never the less. I don't have the figures readily at hand but I thought a significant number of French troops were evacuated as well.

Great American Sandwich Company on Soi Buakhao (Dec. 27, 2017)

Sounds kinky. -
With a couple of US banks, my experience has been that the exchange rate at ATMs is quite good. The problem is the 220 baht fee and whatever your bank adds in. Also, if the ATM screen says anything about conversion, press no.

Ah, it is The Great American Sandwich Company. Also, a British thing which kills Argentinians. -

Looks good. Always have been unclear what delineates a patty melt from a burger.
