Actually my wife asked this a while ago when we went fishing. In Mandurah (Western Australia) there are quite a few house boats and she reckons they would be great in Thailand and probably a good selling point. They are a bit different to the houseboat seen in Europe. BTW mrs is Thai.

Fellows BMs correct me if I am wrong, but I thoguht as a farang you could buy a house, but the actual land must be owned by a Thai ie: two separate titles - one for the house and one for the land. This is not including the corporations side of things just as individuals.

Pete, Have to agree lot of the time is taken up waiting for people who are meeting you, that is why I said to the missus no-one is to meet us at the airport next time, they can wait for us at the hotel. Well that is the plan whether it works or not is another thing, but she does know it pisses me off waiting around at the airport all the time. I mean to say they haven't seen us for 12 months or so so what is another hour or so hey!

This post has got my interest up - say I was to open a HSBC account in Australia, and someone else opened a Thailand HSBC account. With internet banking would they charge me to make transfers from my Oz account to the Thailand one? If they do charge any idea how much?

Quick one Don what type of computer do you have and what is the operating system? I know some of the Acer VT1000 had a bad batch of them put out, which caused the problems you describe. Fix was basically to tape the DVD drive to the mother board.

Thanks Philippo, I have stayed there many times before but never in a superior room so was wondering if it was worth the extra bahts. Also when we stay we normally have a few friends/family to the room so a normal room can get a bit cramped at times. As for negotiating the price you are right the web prices are too high and I always let my Thai wife negotiate before we stay anyway Cheers, Kev

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has stayed in a superior room at the Baybreeze and how does it compare with the standard room please? I stayed in the suite once when it was 1200 baht but the price is just BS now. Also any updates on the room refurbishments lately there? Cheers, Kev

Try Baybreeze, Soi Honey Inn. When we stayed lat year the rooms on the 6th floor were being refurbishment and quite nice for the price so you may want to check that you are getting a refurbished room when checking in. Also the pool was being refurbished at the same time. Not sure about brekky included though but has everything else.

Thanks for that Tom, oh well it looks like it will be a boring 4 hours enroute to BKK. Might just have to buy a can of coke and crack open the duty free :) Not looking for a massage or anything Tom, the missus is more than capable of looking after me in that regard. Cheers.
