actually my wife and myself live in sunny Perth Oz,, last xmas and this xmas we will be celebrating with about 20 people coming over for lunch and drinks etc.... my wife has plenty of Thai friends and they absolutely love to celebrate xmas. better than spending it alone.

Nope keep the bloody mangos in the fridge and the bananas on the bench. Bloody mangos go off very quickly in the heat and last longer in the fridge????

no nightlife so to speak in Chaiyaphum and I definately wouldn't travel all the way from Pattaya to see the water falls! Good place to chill out if you already happen to be in Chaiyaphum for some other reason.

Have been to exactly the same spot several times and yes an excellent place to chill out with a few beers and a bit of food. Yep a bit of a drive from Pattaya, about a 7 hour bus ride.

From Perth Australia the only direct flight to Bangkok is with Thai Air so that is who I choose, I bloody hate stop overs etc...

Yep hate to say it but looks like crap to me, with need a fair bit of fixing up I believe. Like someone said a downgradfe not an upgrade. Tried the paradox skin but screen doesn't fit. So back to PT skin but like said above evrything bloody huge.

Stayed at AA last month with the better half as our regular hotel was full. Room was 1,000 bahts a night but gotta say the sheets, towels etc were pretty thread bare. Nothing special at that price and next time will be booking our regular hotel in advance, which is comparable if not slightly better at a much cheaper rate. I'm sure you can find better hotels around Soi 13 for 1,000 a night. Kev

Gents I will be flying out this Sunday so thankfully I can watch the Mighty Eagles beat the Cats at home, but grand final weekend I will be in Hua Hin. I have flown with Thai Air many times from Australia and quite a few of those times, my wife's and my suitcases were close to the 30kg weight, no extra charge. They say 20kg limit but I have never been charged excess baggage with Thai and my wife and others are adamant that the unoffical limit is 30kg.

Teelack, Did you leave a zero off that price? 1,000 bahts for a touch phone is bloody cheap, more like 10,000. Also what type of phone is it? Myself (and you if you are in OZ) I have a Nolia N8 on the Optus $29 plan, good deal, I never go over the $180 inlcuded calls and the 200MB data limit. For overseas calls I use the Lebara mobile card (in old mobile), which was recommened on here and is a bloody good deal.

I agree bank transfers the way to go, especailly when sending a few bob (dollars). Just make sure you send in original currency and let the Thai bank do the currency conversion, not the home bank otherwise you will get ripped off on the excahnge rate.
