General Election - Impact for Tourists
teelack replied to CheshireTom's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
If you really want to know (you nosey bastard) it was because I moved in with Dao my GF at the time. -
Las Vegas Paul.......Updated Dec 12th 2013.
teelack replied to Terry Lee's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I met him a few times when he had the club with the fish tank (was it Wet and Wild?). One night three of us larakins decided to make a visit and we were all looking to have a ball and LVP gave it to us. It was one of those nights that define Pattaya and we all had a memorable and fun night and quite some years late it still ranks as a great experience. RIP -

I cancelled AC simply because I wanted to do so and had better use for my time. I don't need any ones permission nor do I have to give a reason. -
General Election - Impact for Tourists
teelack replied to CheshireTom's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
In fairness I personally have so many considerations that this forum has zero influence on what I do. When I was a wage slave however and only got one chance a year then these things become more important. One of the reasons that I started coming to Thailand in the first place was because I was due to go to Bali a week after the bombings and the travel agent allowed me to change to Thailand without penalty. I could see a desolate holiday had I have gone to Bali with the politics of the time. I really have only two choices and they are go or don't go and the second option has never crossed my mind however for all the reasons that I mentioned my window of opportunity is narrow and whatever the political situation I will be booking within the next few days. -
General Election - Impact for Tourists

Re the question asked by the OP. I guess that I am a fairly average tourist to Pattaya. I want to be there in late February and to achieve this I need to make bookings possibly this week. Its not just taking advantage of the best fare deal but in my case its also about saving a serious amount booking feeder flights early and tying in with domestic issues. I also saw the accommodation that I wanted last trip and have already pre-booked. There are so many things that COULD go wrong in Thailand or indeed any place on Earth and if I allowed all the permutations to bother me I would travel nowhere! Bottom line for me I just need to get on and do it and remember that in 20 plus visits to Thailand nothing un-towards has happened other than the odd missed flight due to weather and break down and assuming that your heading to Pattaya I think that this is always treated a bit differently because of the mass tourist trade that descends there. -
Beach Rd. dangerous after 2:00 am?

Perhaps someone can advise me why asking if the OP was wanting information about potential violence or traffic problems deserves a demerit point? -

Interesting that Evil and myself thought you (the OP) was talking about the social side of BR whereas some respondents seeing the traffic issues. Perhaps the OP can advise what he is looking for advice on? -
Beach Rd. dangerous after 2:00 am?
teelack replied to streeteats's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Other than the odd LB taking umbrage I have never heard of any issues with Beach Road. All places change however and with a lot of poorer tourists (well that's my opinion) it could become a place to avoid. As Evil says, why go there other than a short walk to your hotel. If its a free lancer you want then there are untold quantities lining Walking Street at 2 AM. -
For me one of the secrets to enjoying Pattaya is to ensure that whatever I spend I have a back up plan. Inevitably people spend more that they budgeted for and for me it is having access to extra funds if I need them using internet banking and a debit card. It used to be a reserve stash of a $US 1000 but with the ease of use of credit/debit cards and the net you can come up with a plan to back you up if the worst happens.

How Big is Tourism for Thailand?
teelack replied to sabaidii2's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Your opinion only. When, as many here save, sweat and slave for their annual break in Pattaya, a lights off policy is indeed a disaster. As it seems that you are unable to appreciate any point of view other than your own I did indeed expect this point to slide over your head. -

I never mentioned 'a couple of days' and once again this is your invention (typical) and you are being naïve again hiding behind MM.s last post "And we'd best leave the discussion at that." -

When you say you managed to avoid the erection was that yours or the nurses?

How Big is Tourism for Thailand?
teelack replied to sabaidii2's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
That is a totally naïve question as we all know that there will be a time in the future when none of us will want to be in Thailand for a holiday. I was in Pattaya when the Kings sister died and that was bad enough. -

You may be right however the vast majority of people contributing to boards like this do not mix much with 'average Thai' in that we are here for a good time and then gone. I do think that this is an interesting thread however as I wonder when they will stop closing down the entertainment industry days at a time because of religious and royal reasons. The recent debate over the death of the Patriarch when they were initially looking at a three week mourning phase threw this into sharp relief. There must surely be a section of the civil service that sees this as a potential disaster in a country where for so many no work means no pay. -

Some great photos and some happy memories of the recent trip. -
posted from my Samsung using Tapatalk 2. I have to say that I think that this is confused and confusing advice. I am unsure what baggage the average person has but for me its a 20 kg suitcase, a 7 kg carry on and a laptop, The point about Bells is that it gets you to and picks you up at the front door of you accommodation. Why would you suggest that someone go from Swampy to Jomtien when they are staying in say Naklua or even Soi Buakhao? It would be a nightmare getting to any place other than an address actually in Jomptien or on the Jomptien - Pattaya highway or Second Road. You would have to end up taking a taxi and that would blow any saving.
-
The question was about Bell, not Airport Link. I have used the bus station in North Pattaya Road for other than Bell Airport service and in these instances you need to pay 30 baht for a local baht bus.
-
Who mentioned Jomtien? The standard fare from the bus station where the Bell buses arrive and depart is 30 baht to any part of Pattaya. Sorry to the members who are offended but I have always paid 20 baht from Jomtien to Walking Street.
-
I used the 3 pm bus Pattaya to Swampy 3 weeks ago. Left on time and took 89 minutes. I also took the 30 baht baht bus from the stati0n to Walking Street. Again, no issues. The only problem with this service is that more often than not it is full and if you don't book you miss out.

A bitchy lady who is NOW an ex girlfriend just sent me this! Being nervous, and embarrassed about my upcoming colonoscopy, on a recommendation, I decided to have it done while visiting friends in Thailand where the beautiful nurses are allegedly more gentle and accommodating. As I lay naked on my side on the table, the gorgeous nurse began my procedure. "Don't worry, at this stage of the procedure, it's quite normal to get an erection," the nurse told me "Well, I haven't got an erection," I replied. DON'T GET A COLONOSCOPY IN THAILAND !!!!
-
Thanks Glyn. I will give this a try however ideally I would like to put this on my desk top for instance. I have managed to get as far as copying the HTLM code and pasting it onto a Word document but all I get is the code and not the clock. What am I doing wrong. I have been getting this far for a long while but it is the next step that is tripping me up.

Jacko has said it all. Its the one account that I get zero interest on and therefore I try to keep it in balance with my outgoings as this is the account that I have to pay my bills out of. I cannot pay bills out of an interest earning account.
