  1. Good one yet again. Reminded me of a beauty parlour of Soi Buakow. I chatted with the boss lady a few times and asked her if she could improve me. "Sure, come in I make you young and beautiful" she tells me. Next day I ask her again if she can still help me and she bounces back with " Sure, come on in every day. It will only take till next year". That was last October!
  2. I noticed the following story on PBS a day ago. It makes you wonder how many other companies will cancel flights over the next few weeks. I am booked on Thai Air and so far so good but it will be nervous times till the matter dies down. Singapore Airlines has announced the cancellation of 19 flights to Bangkok from January 14 to February 25 due to the political unrest in the Thai capital.
  3. Do a bit of Googling. There was a topic here a couple of years ago about a swingers hotel in Pattaya. This might be a better bet that the Penthouse.
  4. I also have an overseas card and started out using the banks ATM's at Big C however this same card will only get me 5000 at the BO Siam and 10000 baht next door at the Kasikorn. Therefore my suggestion is for the OP to take some time out and try some test runs on a few banks ATM machines to find out what the best deal is.I am sure that there must be one that will give him what he looks for.
  5. It is always one of the problems of promoting yourself on forums such as this. get it wrong and you get pilloried. The reviews so far have been less than promising and I was looking forward to trying the place. I hope that the owners are taking notice as to the best of my knowledge the one thing that this forum is very good about is giving honest reviews on the food. I look forward to more reviews and perhaps some feed back from the management.
  6. Seems that your problem is location. If it is difficult for you to get a Bells then any other suggestions that I have are just as useless. The last time I used Mr T (not Toom) BK/PTA it was 1000 baht so I wonder how far out in the sticks you are?
  7. As with all else currency rates are similar to fashion and will continue to fluctuate. Whilst the OP mentions the $US, the world is in fact a small village as far as currency goes. Ask any Australian about this. Earlier this year there were more baht for the $A than the $US and now despite the non stop printing of American dollars the $US is worth about 14/15% more that the Aussie. Then again, the rate that I got earlier this week for baht for my New Zealand dollars was the best for possibly 8 years. Like many others I tend to go looking for the best rate of exchange when in Pattaya however common sense tells me its all a fools errand. Two of my major costs are paid from outside the country, namely accommodation and air-fares. I also buy baht or $US if the rate is right before I get there and the bottom line is that however much the currency fluctuates it will cost me or save me a few hundred baht a trip and is chicken feed compared to a single bar fine!
  8. Next year I propose to have more early nights when I am in Pattaya and not to wear myself out. I also will give all gogo's and other paces where nudity is available a miss in order for me to not worry what I am missing when I have an early night. The excessive drinking has to stop and I will be cutting back -a lot. I will book into the Pattaya Hospital in order to have the nose growth removed! Happy new year. Signed Pinocchio.
  9. Best wishes from a summery New Zealand to you all out there in the Pattaya 'sphere of influence'. I hope to see some of you in the LOS in 2014.
  10. Jacko. Tell me more about the Skytrain being broke. I have missed this piece of news. PS. Since the upgrade I still cannot use 'quote'using IE and I am too lazy to change to Chrome.
  11. Thanks for reminding me that I need to spend a night in Bangkok the next time I am in Thailand. Your essay is very tempting.
  12. Good one. I take it that you have contacted the Patent Office?
  13. If you Google safe boxes in Pattaya there are some ideas to work with.
  14. Thanks for the Japanese art. Interesting but half way through I started thinking (and laughing) about the odd time over the years that some Pattaya lady has come out of the shower half clothed or swaddled with towels and got into bed dressed like that. They sure as hell wear a lot of clothes.
  15. Yup, he really is a piece of garbage (IMHO)
  16. Jacko I am only ever in two phases. I am in Pattaya or planning to be in Pattaya. As mentioned elsewhere I booked my accommodation for next trip, last trip so I can therefore do both things at once!
  17. Thanks as always for a Christmas chortle!
  18. If you really want to know (you nosey bastard) it was because I moved in with Dao my GF at the time.
  19. I met him a few times when he had the club with the fish tank (was it Wet and Wild?). One night three of us larakins decided to make a visit and we were all looking to have a ball and LVP gave it to us. It was one of those nights that define Pattaya and we all had a memorable and fun night and quite some years late it still ranks as a great experience. RIP
  20. I cancelled AC simply because I wanted to do so and had better use for my time. I don't need any ones permission nor do I have to give a reason.
  21. In fairness I personally have so many considerations that this forum has zero influence on what I do. When I was a wage slave however and only got one chance a year then these things become more important. One of the reasons that I started coming to Thailand in the first place was because I was due to go to Bali a week after the bombings and the travel agent allowed me to change to Thailand without penalty. I could see a desolate holiday had I have gone to Bali with the politics of the time. I really have only two choices and they are go or don't go and the second option has never crossed my mind however for all the reasons that I mentioned my window of opportunity is narrow and whatever the political situation I will be booking within the next few days.
  22. Re the question asked by the OP. I guess that I am a fairly average tourist to Pattaya. I want to be there in late February and to achieve this I need to make bookings possibly this week. Its not just taking advantage of the best fare deal but in my case its also about saving a serious amount booking feeder flights early and tying in with domestic issues. I also saw the accommodation that I wanted last trip and have already pre-booked. There are so many things that COULD go wrong in Thailand or indeed any place on Earth and if I allowed all the permutations to bother me I would travel nowhere! Bottom line for me I just need to get on and do it and remember that in 20 plus visits to Thailand nothing un-towards has happened other than the odd missed flight due to weather and break down and assuming that your heading to Pattaya I think that this is always treated a bit differently because of the mass tourist trade that descends there.
  23. Perhaps someone can advise me why asking if the OP was wanting information about potential violence or traffic problems deserves a demerit point?
  24. Interesting that Evil and myself thought you (the OP) was talking about the social side of BR whereas some respondents seeing the traffic issues. Perhaps the OP can advise what he is looking for advice on?
  25. Other than the odd LB taking umbrage I have never heard of any issues with Beach Road. All places change however and with a lot of poorer tourists (well that's my opinion) it could become a place to avoid. As Evil says, why go there other than a short walk to your hotel. If its a free lancer you want then there are untold quantities lining Walking Street at 2 AM.
