  1. Not many times a day . It might be more convenient to use their 200 baht service to swampy and then take the freee shuttle bus to/from DM
  2. In terms of location, moto taxis are available just about everywhere but baht bus routes are pretty limited. In central pattaya they are north to south on Beach road, second road and soi buakaow. beach and south roads are one way. No baht bus service on third road. East west it is pattaya north, central and south roads. In Naklua, it is Naklua road and from pattaya south road a route goes down to Jomtien. There is no baht bus route in Wongamat, nor in Cosy beach in Jomtien...both nice beachside areas. this does cover most areas within your 5-10 minutes of the beach criteria.
  3. wow looks really nice inside, good luck with the sale
  4. I was on beach road, at soi8, which was badly flooded. Headed home up Klang, which was blocked with water so detoured via second road and thru New Plaza. Soi Buakaow was underwater,as usual so decided to leave the bike and wade home. Lots of bikes getting stuck in the deep water (over my knees) and didnt want to chance damage to a new bikes engine. went back early this morning to pick it up.
  5. The airport departure tax is included in your ticket price. If you cancel your flight and get a full refund then you get the money this back. I imagine tho that if you have some type of promo fare then your wont get 100% of your ticket price back. Whether the amount you do receive includes the airport tax or not I have no idea.
  6. This is Benjamit coffee, not open saturdays, that II mentioned earlier on. capp or late is 50 baht but bloody good as they grind their own beans and sell cofee to the public
  7. "Please name a few. I really don't care for Starbucks but I can't seem to find anything better. I also need some place that sells good ground coffee for a French Press." The Benjamit coffee shop, in the area where the soi buakaow market is located sells coffee ground on the premises. Their coffee is xcellent and the service is good. not open on saturdays. 50 baht for a latte, or cappucino Another good coffee is at Cafe Pittini on soa boakaow near sois 19-21 its on the beach side of the road.
  8. "but rent prices seem way over average prices here." typical for agents I would imagine, gotta take their commission !!
  9. I have a friend whose GF has lived here nearly two years. She is on an ED visa and speaks and writes some thai. She loves it here, has a group of filipina friends and has no wish to go back to Phils. "she is going to be frustrated with everyone assuming she speaks Thai. " this girl has no problem as her thai is quite good. I brought a filipina gf here for a month and, yes she did get tired of it. I had to teach her how to say "I dont speak thai" to save problems. She also loved it here and is coming back for a couple of months early next year. As a side issue, if you are planni
  10. Never had it checked at checkin but I only have a small backpack. it wouldnt be impossible for them to ask you to put it on the luggage scales for a check.
  11. "Have you never had good service in Pattaya? " I did say there wouldn't be much call for it, not that it would never happen. I have had good service occassionally, but it is certainly the exception rather than the normal. Orders messed up, food not arriving, the main arrives before the entree (or sometimes the desert comes first) grumpy staff.....had them all.
  12. Isn't tipping supposed to be for good service? If thats the case then there wouldn't be much call for tipping in pattaya !!
  13. Never met him but certainly enjoy his positive contribution to the board. Wish him a speedy recovery and a long life.
  14. Grandpollo, while I agree with your comments on the limitations of the system, and only in thailand could someone spend so much money on something so badly thought out, if you only have small luggage it is quite good. Took my filipina home yesterday and we were staying on soi 18 Sukumvit. At 8a a short walk to ASoke station, travel one station to Petchaburi, ( 15 baht each) walk to the Airport line and we caught the airport City Line (not an express cost 35 baht each) which took 26 minutes to the airport station. total time 70 minutes and cost was 50 baht each. The traffic in Suk was bumpe
  15. Serviced apartments are the way to go, pay for a month, even tho you might stay a few days less. Lots around near the soi buakaow area to start with. One nice one on pattaya central road, right opp soi buakaow around 12k a month. Icon place in pattaya central opp Big C Extra is another one, very new rooms and 9-13k a month
  16. Max central is a nice, pretty new place. However its not very well located for public transport, not a problem if you have a motorbike tho. If you dont intend to ride, and want to be close to central pattaya, I would suggest you find somewhere in the area bound by pattaya 2nd road, central and south roads and soi buakaow . No baht buses along third road so close to soi buakaow is preferable.
  17. You are right in a way, my room is around 30 sq metres and its a studio so they must be small bedrooms. Centre condo is very well located right opposite the pattaya tai market, almost on the corner of second road, but the public areas area a bit run down. dont buy on the beach view side as its next to the huge temple, very noisy. bound to be a few bM who live there and can give more info
  18. I was there with my filipina last week and it was very quiet. its a good day out and if you show your thai licence then they will let you in for the thai price. funny thing is that the GF has been getting thai price everywhere as they dont realise she is not a local. I have to tell her not to say anything tho !!! The Don Mueng exhibit is still there tho its looking a bit tired. The international models seem to have been kept in good condition. Like TR says its a good couple of hours spent. They even have umbrellas to keep the sun off !!
  19. the Fondles number is the one I am trying. I have tried my mobile, but didnt expect to get thru and I have tried a pay phone as well with no success. As I said earlier, I have tried several combinations of this number on skype without success. Dont know why its so hard to get thru to them.
  20. I am not having any success with skype although I do have credit. The number on the web site shows as 001-800-601-5637 I have entered the prefix 66 for thailand and then:- I have tried dialing the full number as shown, also I have tried the 1800601xxxxx and also 800601xxx I am obviously doing something wrong but cannot work out what it is?
  21. I am trying to cal the 1800 number of Tiger Airways in Bangkok from pattaya. Its the only contact phone number listed for Thailand. I dont expect to get connection on my mobile being toll free but I also tried a public phone without success. Got a recording, which of course I dont understand. Do I have to find somewhere with a landline I can use? Any Ideas. please?
  22. Gosh Adam, where do the years go ?? See you there, I will bring my filipina GF with me, she is certainly enjoying her time here.
  23. Isnt it nice to see a Thai company accepting responsibility and offering some compensation. full marks to them. used them a lot without any problems
  24. "You can buy a "dongle" which is a 3G "modem" on a little USB stick that adds a network adapter and 3G or slower (often) from a 3G provider. I assume AIS and DTAC will sell something like this." I use this system with a Vodaphone dongle which cost me 990 baht and a DTAC card from Happy which costs me 220 baht for 70 hours a month. It is really no use for downloading anything large. its ok to check email and the boards but anything requiring a large download is a waste of time. even downloading a post with a lot of pics is slow Mate is in a GH that has broadband in house and its very quick
