I had assumed that people would realise that if you were going "towards the beach" then you would be coming from sukhumvit road direction and heading west. its hard to go towards the beach if you are heading east. sorry if you were confused perhaps I gave the readers credit for more intelligence than they deserved. !!

Another one worth remembering is the Fascino pharmacy on Pattaya North road, about half way down towards the beach on the left. Huge place, big sign out the front. They have a big stock of the more difficult to obtain drugs and will order in for you. Also have a discount card available.

Heading to sville from pattaya on monday with a couple of mates. going via bus to trat, had lek then get a taxi from the border to snkville. coming back via pp then fly to bkk. will report on how it goes next week.

Just back from the pattaya licence place and renewed motorcycle licence for 5 years no problems. A lot of people there, even at 8.30am and took two hours, without having to do a driving test I Had an IDP for motorbike). Didnt want a medical cert, did want a residency letter, one copy of passport pages and front and back copy of expired licence. Pretty easy process tho even if you couldnt speak any thai. thanks again for the info, I was just gonna make do with an IDP.

dont know about in the UK but in australia the major banks provide upto 90 days travel insurance free of charge on their credit cards. Might pay you to check if its the same there?

My five year licence has been expired for nine months, didnt have an o visa when it was due. I didnt realise you could renew it so long after expiry. I have a multi o at the moment so has anyone renewed it after a long period at the Regents office, please?? i dont want to go to the doc and immigration and then find out they wont renew it.

I never go out to the registration office. I just go to one of the bigger motorbike dealers and they will take care of it for a small fee around 200 baht as I recall. i cant be bothered driving out there and waiting around. this service is very handy if you are not going to be in thailand when its due as you can drop the green book off before you leave, they will pay it and keep the new sticker for you until you get back.
