Joe, the thread was about retirement reporting in LOS and my post was a comparison between the reporting requirements in RP (there arn't any) and LOS. I was not focussed so much on the Residency side of it, as you just automatically get that with your "Retirement" application in RP, thats what makes it so simple. I imagine that Residency in RP WITHOUT a Retirement visa is a different matter altogether. I was not aware that Residency in Thailand was an option for Retirees, but you obviously know a lot more than me. I have to wonder why so many BM struggle to cope with onerous reporting and ren

I never cease to be amazed at the constance changes and the varying rule interpretations in the Thai retirement visa process. Contrast this with the philippines, where once you have a Resident Retirement visa:- You never report to Immigration again, you are free to leave or return whenever you want to and you dont need an exit permit. You dont apply for renewal every twelve months, its a Lifetime Visa. You get a permanent insert into your passport and a plastic ID Resident card. You pay no more fees other than $10 for the plastic card. and they even pay a small interest on your term deposit

I have never seen cameras, laptops etc cheaper here in pattaya than back in australia, especially at the major chains when they are on sale. My American friends tell me that they are even cheaper in the US than in oz so its a no brainer where to buy your stuff I reckon. Also getting something fixed under warranty in thailand can be "challenging" at the best.

I fly from queensland australia and I always use Air Asia now. I have a 2 hour stop over in KL then fly in to bangkok. I regularly pay $5-600 for a return ticket. My friend flys Qantas, pays $1,500+ and has a two hour stop over in sydney (two hours flying in the wrong direction) He reckons he gets a great deal cos he gets free beer !!!

The Bell bus leaves on the "even" hour from the airport, but there is another bus that leaves on the "odd" hour so there will be one at 5pm. Its 124 baht but it goes express to pattaya on the motorway and then along Sukhumvit road stopping at pattaya north, central and south roads. You would need a baht bus or MC taxi to your hotel from one of those places. the ticket office is downstairs between exits 7 and 8 Pappillon, sorry we must have both hit the POST button at the same time.

Walked around the soi Buakhao....
biggles replied to Gabor's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I rented a room here about five years ago and got to know the area very well. Now its a popular hang out for me, the prices are good, there is most everything you need, even gogo bars now, and its not a popular hang-out for the tattooed holiday crowd. You have a huge choice of accommodation in all price ranges, the transportation is good, and you can easily walk down to the beach front and the shopping centres, it makes good sense to stay in the area. -
Is there a "time-out" facility on the New Board?
biggles replied to biggles's topic in Technical problems or questions.
thanks MM, I am using my neighbours laptop here in oz and I have just changed the cookie setting to allow pattayatalk. If you see this, then your info worked. -

I do use mobile internet here in australia but I always have and never struck this problem b4. Its almost like the situation with a bank log in, where if you dont do anything for a while then try and post something it wants your gives you an error message, says your not logged in and wants you to start again. Driving me crazy at times. -

It worked okay for the first time today. Maybe it was a problem at this end. -
You say its a copy so probably cheaper to get another one. I certainly wouldnt get one from the same place if it packed up so quickly. there are two very good watch repair guys in soi buakaow, near the corner of Pattaya Klang, on the left side walking south towards pattaya tai. I know a couple of people with expensive, genuine watches who have gone there and been pleased.

when I view the board I often have several windows open, then I can do other stuff while waiting for posts to download. What happens now is that quite often I will see a post I want to respond to, I will click Reply and type up a response, then when I try and Post it, I get a message saying I am not logged in..... I have to log in again, before I can post my reply and if I dont copy what I typed I lose it.. Is there some timeout facility that means you are logged out if you dont interact with the board every so many minutes?

I happened to mention my interest in the same trip while in Big C and a local guy said there is a bus company in second road, outside TOPS that runs a bus service every day with mini vans.

I took the plunge and booked a return from BKK to clark today. Out on 25th January and return on 28th March. cost was $154 for the return, all included. Just hope they prove to be reliable, the flight times was the deciding factor, tho they were cheaper than cebupacific as they have promo fares on.

Durex condoms crap here lately.
biggles replied to Usexpat's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Is there anywhere in pattaya to purchase the micro thin condoms that the review in the link talks about, or do you have to have them shipped in from overseas, please? -
Heaven Above’s Current Specials And Offers
biggles replied to nutosf's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Agree 100% with this comment, HA has to have the most "stand offish" girls in pattaya. they might not need to go with customers if they are paid a lot but friendliness and interaction will boost the bars attendance and takings. A bar in angeles has a sign painted on the mirror:- THERE IS NO MONEY HERE TURN AROUND AND LOOK AT THE CUSTOMERS.!! A lot of gogo bars in pattaya need one as well I reckon. -
Tiger airways is starting flights to Clark at the end of October so I am sure we will see a lot more "specials" from Cebu Pacific. the tiger timetable is much more user friendly than the Cebu one and I will certainly switch. They need to be worried about this new competition. Most of the passengers on the flight from bangkok to clark seem to be filipinos, perhaps heading north into luzon. I have been using Cebu pacific for around 3 years now for travel to philippines and domestically and, in fairness, must say I have never had a flight cancelled or delayed in that time. Perhaps just lucky as

"I like toast, not hot bread " This is my pet hate in thai places serving farang food.... I can live with hard butter, or no butter but why the hell do I have to have a piece of warm bread when I want toast !!!

Its known as the Australia News channel. I watch it here in pattaya on Sophon cable. You will know it when you find it as they have an AUSTRALIA NEWS logo in gold on the top of the screen.

A good idea. In australia when I move I go down to a local supermarket or electrical store. Pick up the cartons that they use for food deliveries or appliances. They usually just throw them out the back for disposal.

Crocodiles running loose in Pattaya
biggles replied to short's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Same thing happened in cairns, australia a few years ago, about 150+ floated out. People were ringing up the croc farm asking them to come and get the crocs out of their swimming pools. A taxi driver on the way to the Cairns airport aboutsix months ago ran over a croc, totally stuffed up his suspension!! It was a big one. -
They have very customer friendly flight times. Leave bkk 3.40p arrive clark 7.55pm and leave clark 12.35p arrive Bkk 2.50p looks like only Monday, wednesday and saturday. Much better than cebupacific. I will certainly switch for my next flight in january,

Another expat opening another bar
biggles replied to berettakid's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I ran into an old acquaintance of mine a couple of nights ago. Owned bars here for 10+ years, had upto 8 at the one time. Only got two at the moment and he said it was the worst low season his records show. One of his bars is still quite busy but he is not making any money on either one . This new bar owner will need some capital to carry him over the low season. I hope the high season is a bonanza for bar owners but the demographic of visitors seems to have changed and lots of "real" tourists here now. More tourists on the Beach road than girls or mongers, thats sad.
