I always thought stability would be the big plus but I never realised they were so expensive. A 125cc Honda click is under 60,000 baht, and a Honda PCX150 80,000 so they are an expensive scooter.

I think they come with a snorkel !!

One of the benefits for me is that I cross Klang every day and the traffic seems to be non-existant most of the time. You can actually walk across the road, instead of running.

Japan is on my visit list so love to read about your experiences and recommendations

Probably a bit out of the way for you but the food section upstairs in the Big CExtra supermarket has a range, and even has BBQ Pork. They often have them on promo specials.

Parking on Beach Road
biggles replied to InternationalTraveler's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Perhaps if they forced all the rental bikes to move then people wouldn't have to park illegally? -
I am often surprised at the number of expensive, professionally produced signs/adverts around that have terrible English. I remember one poster that was for a condo development some years ago, it was completely unintelligible, making no sense at all. If you are going to that kind of expense, wouldnt it be prudent to get it proof read by someone before production.

Hi Martin, well I am in AC with my long-term Filipina GF. Life changed drastically for me after I met her and after 12 years of happy mongering I gave it up to live a settled life. We still spend half the year in Pattaya, I kept my old room on, and it is a good place for a holiday. Other than travelling to other spots, HKK and Singapore recently, not much exciting going on but I am more content than I have been for many years. There is a life after mongering, you just have to choose the right one. -
I always found it a good place to pick up girls over the years, quite a few on the hunt. Go there with the GF every week I hide in Benjamit coffee shop, while she walks.

One of the nicest beaches around, clean water and lots of shade and usually very uncrowded. Lunch on the beach is just a bonus for me.

Styptic pencils in Pattaya?
biggles replied to Billions's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
If you can't find a Styptic, tiny bit of tissue paper does the same and it only takes a couple of minutes to stop. Use cold water to wet it to remove without starting the bleeding again. -
Fully agree. I have ridden for 50 years and every day in Pattaya I have "close calls". Automatics do make it easier as you can concentrate more on the road and what is happening around you, rather than worrying about gears. Unless you are planning to be here long time you can make do with public transport.

Nice photos. I was there with the GF last year when they were burning off and you couldn't see the hills from the city. From doi Suthep you could only see about halfway to the city centre. It took her weeks to get her chest and breathing back to normal again. I would certainly go back and loved the place (been before) but I won't make the same time of year

I have to say I have seen most of them over the years. No wonder they are number two in the world for road deaths. !!
-
They also have a fixed price meal for a very good price. Comprising entree main and desert with a choice of about six dishes for each. I live just around the corner so have been a couple of,times.

Walking Street doesn't need bars and gogos
biggles replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I am sure that a great many of these people had no idea that the bars were closed until they got there. -
Some nice photos, I really enjoyed Hue. Mate and I hired bikes and rode around the outside of the walls...it was hot and the locals thought we were mad. !! Did you head to Nim binh as well?

I travel on cheap airlines, mostly around SE Asia, so no power provided, that is why I bought the power bank
-
Thanks for that Jaco, interesting article. Regarding the power issue for laptops, tablets etc. I just bought a 15,000'amp hour Power Bank for $50. It is really great and lets me recharge my Ipad when the battery runs out on long overseas flights. The GF has a copy tablet and the battery only lasts about an hour and a half so she loves it as well.

From a non techy, a question. how does the signal get from the router on the plane to the ground?

"I was just stating what the logic may be behind it from a business stand point. " You're expecting Logic in Thailand? Good luck with that. !!

A Few shots from this afternoon
biggles replied to lanzalad's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Gary, we are here for 3 months twice a year so,a few days is not a hardship -
Great photos again, thanks. Do Cambodian immigration give u a visa insert that takes up,a full page or just use rubber stamps?
