Whenever I see folks getting around Pattaya in wheelchairs I have so much admiration for their guts. I have enough problems just walking around here with the broken/uneven surfaces, blocked access etc. I dont know how they do it....gutsy guys. !

“The constructors of Pattaya’s new relief road say that that its completion has been delayed because of a telephone pole that stands slap bang in the middle of where the road is supposed to run," I remember this also happening on Soi Bonkot (where The Love Inn is) years ago with a light pole. They eventually removed the pole but left the hole in the middle of the road. Locals put tree branches in the hole to mark it during flooding. Time passed, the hole got bigger, the branches got bigger and nothing was done. I think it was around 8-10 months before it was filled in....Ah, Thailand

Today's adventure at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya
biggles replied to MM's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
When I decided 4 years ago (67 then) to give up the mongering life for one woman, the health factor was an aspect I also considered. My GF apart from being beautiful, slim and sexy, was a caregiver in Lebanon for 7 years, 2 with a heart patient, and this was yet another positive. She has always looked after me well, tho she does nag me over health issues. I have a few friends mid to late 70's whp live alone and I do worry about them. -
Bad At Any Price- Updated Aug. 9, 2017
biggles replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
I went there on my firstvisit around 2009 and mate and I were regulars and the staff knew what we would order every time. I havn't been there now for 2-3 years but their Pad Thai was very good. -
all good from AC in the Philippines as well.

He needs to decide which area he wants to live first. Being close to a baht bus route is good plus easy access to shops and other things he likes to do. I would be inclined to rent for 6 months or so, check out the noise etc before buying

Internet 90 day reporting...broken for all or just me?
biggles replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I tried using an Ipad2 and the link from the immigration dept web site. Got the same message as you did Martin. -
"One thing that amazes me is that Muslim women in the USA buy into this nonsense, when they no longer need to" What also amazes me is how so many left-leaning women are on the media outlets supporting muslim immigration. They are championing the cause of men who will treat them like s...t if they get the chance. No womens rights in Islam, it is all about the men controlling them. How these women can reconcile contradiction this surprises me.

Outings with Filipinos can be "interesting". I remember an organisd trip for staff of the MMDA to a beach resort south of ManiLa, huge coach load of people, overnight at the resort with dinner and return the next day. Well we get there after a long trip and NO VACANCIES. No one had bothered to make a booking......just turned up with 40 people at the weekend expecting to get in. All the other resorts were full most slept in the little day cabins or on the beach sand. GF and I shared a cab to the nearest town and got the bus home. Lessn learned.

Excellence In Thai Engineering
biggles replied to forcebwithu's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I would think that some professions such as Engineer, Architect etc require innovation, lateral thinking outside the box. It has always puzzled me how these careers can flourish in Thailand where the education system seems designed to stifle this style of creative thinking ? -
GF has bought a couple from Tukcom as much cheaper than in the Phillies and the quality is better. After sales service is hit and miss, and this is the biggest problem, not uncommon in Thailand. Eventually she found a very helpful shop and bought a couple from them. She ended up selling in Phillies to friends at a higher price after 6 months and then upgraded to a genuine Samsung, on Tukcom sale at 3,500 baht off.

Tukcom in Pattaya South road has a huge number of shops selling original and copy tablets. Very close to the Soi Buakaow intersection with South Road. Have a look at their web site as they often have special offers on at big savings.

The Visa shop in the second post is on the ground floor of Tukcom in Pattaya south road, right next to the escalator, on the right as you enter from the road

biggles replied to keyman's topic in Idle Chit Chat

You have to be fair though, quite a few ozzies have won at Wimbledon which is more than a Brit managed for many years.

Gotcha With Extension To Stay And Re-Entry Permit Valid Until Dates
biggles replied to forcebwithu's topic in Expat Issues
I never got a Retirement Visa extension in Thailand, even though I spent many years here. I was discouraged by the seemingly nonsensical hoops that BM would post about from IO and the differing requirements, sometimes within the same office. I would just get a multi entry non imm O in australia once every 12 months or so. When I met my Filipina GF I decided to get a Retirement visa in the Philippines. What a difference !! I got a Lifetime Resident Visa and a Resident card, No exit/re-entry permits, no reporting, no extensions, just come and go as you like. I have never been to Immigra -
At what point is a person a LDOP a fool on a stool
biggles replied to Parkwahn's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
When I read posts about LDOP or 2 week millionaires and their effect on prices, I often compare the Gogo and Beach Road. Agogo are very popular with both of these groups, and BF and ST/LT prices have increased quite exorbitantly over say the last ten years. By comparison BR FL were still charging the same (500 baht) for ST as I paid ten years ago, is this as a result of over payment by short term visitors?? -
I am surprised at the explicit images in what is a pretty conservative country. I would have expected an outcry from locals but at the prices for admission maybe many Thais havn't been there yet. I also wouldn't pay to see them and thank you for posting them here.
