Pattaya Beer Garden – 1 week old.

Recommended Posts

It’s been an eventful 7 days at the Pattaya Beer Garden as we break the place in. We have certainly had plenty of teething problems but over all I would have the rate the launch and first week an incredible success. Thanks of course to the many people that have come in to check out what we have to offer.

We have had plenty of problems but the staff seems to have it pretty much sorted now. The biggest issue I had was some complaints about the beer not being cold enough. A beer garden serving warm beer is just not a good look. The problem appears to be with our industrial strength beer fridges which I touted as being just the best thing. Well that’s what the manufacturer told me but they are not keeping the beer cold enough. This always seems to happen in Thailand.

The solution is to return to the tried and true. We have installed 6 large chilly bins which are filled with beer each day and then packed with ice. It’s low tech and it’s not very pretty but it does keep the beer frigid and that’s what counts.

The kitchen kicked off on Tuesday and so far has been getting rave reviews. Prices are very reasonable and most people are finding the food excellent. I’ve eaten breakfast and dinner there every day this week and I’ve been really happy and full. I’m still refining the menu with the head Chef but we are close to having it locked down. I would appreciate any comments on the food, the price and what’s available.

The biggest problem with the food side is getting the orders right. We have the makings of a good service team already but a brand new menu and limited understanding of farang food can cause some frustrations. The service guys and girls can learn the questions by rote, such as how would you like your steak cooked and which sauce would you like with that. The problem is that the answers can vary immensely and really test their language skills. We have been practicing every day though and The Big Breakfast challenge has been met. “Hash browns or baked beans. How would you like the eggs cooked. Tea or coffee”, and then one bill including food and drinks seemed like an impossibility at the beginning of the week but I’ve now seen it done correctly at least once .

There have been plenty of ladies visiting in search of true love or at least a new friend for the night. As always in a freelancer place some are beauties and some are not. It is still hit and miss with numbers at the moment. Sometimes there will be 20 or 30 girls in the bar and sometimes none. We are working hard to spread the word and our work does seem to be paying off. I don’t think this aspect of the operation will be great for a month or two but it is getting better every day.

This week we will continue with our team rounding up ladies of the beach, streets and discos each day to come and have a look. Between 3 – 5 each afternoon and then again between 9 and 11 they have been arriving in considerable numbers to check us out. Free Som Tum and a small financial incentive seems to be a big attraction. To make sure there are plenty of guys in the bar at these times we were offering 30 baht drinks. Sadly the 30 baht drinks have finished now, however for all this weeks all drinks will be just 40 baht at those two times 3 pm – 5 pm and again from 9 pm – 11 pm.

If you are not busy at those times we would love to see you in the bar to meet the new ladies and at 40 baht a drink including all top shelf liquor, it’s hard to beat the price.

I thought we may have a problem with overly aggressive ladies annoying the customers but that has not been happening. In fact my worry now is that everyone is a bit shy. A lot of guys so far do not understand the concept and think the girls are a bit stand-offish or not available. That is absolutely not the case BUT if you are interested in a lady, you have to make the first move. All it should take is a wave although some girls have been a bit slow to pick up on that. The foolproof approach which I have not seen fail yet is to walk over to the girl and say hello. After that Pattaya and nature take their course easily and hassle free. Remember there are no barfines or lady drinks at The Pattaya Beer Garden so after you say hello it really is completely up to you as to what happens next.

Some guys told me they were worried that a particular girl was not available so they did not approach her. I think most internet guys have this sussed but if you don’t, here is the answer. If they are sitting alone or with a group of girls in the Pattaya Beer Garden, they are available. No doubt about it. Just say Hi and all will flow from there.

The free wifi is in and working right now. On Tuesday we will be installing some additional power points near the inside seating for people who need juice for their laptops. The power points will be the multi-international style that plugs from all countries can fit into. Just be aware that its 220 volts. Not a problem for most lap tops these days but check your computer documentation if you are not sure what voltage your computer can take. It is usually written on the power brick as well.

If you have read this far you have done well. I know I can get a bit wordy, so I’ll leave you with a few photos from this week. I’ll be adding a few new ones every day to the Gallery on the Pattaya Beer garden website at www.pattayabeergarden.com.

Don’t forget the freelancer discount and bar fine discount continue to the end of the month.

Pete

I'm looking forward to visiting in less than 3 weeks time. Pete, why don't you post a menu and let us all see the great food you say is on offer. A photo trip report by a couple of BMs who find freelancers at the bar would also help. Look forward to checking it out!

Glad to hear everything is coming together. I still won't be able to check it out until September but I'll make it a point to drop in and say Hi.

Great report, thanks.

This part has always been true, I've seen it everywhere where FLs sit down -- the Nana and Thermae and Thai Heaven before that and all kinds of places. I'm not convinced it's so much a "problem" but if some of the girls could be encouraged to mingle just a bit, and "make the rounds" of a few tables now and then it might loosen everyone up.

The guys are just as bad, they're like a frixxin stag line at their high school dance. SMILE at them, boys, they'll come over. They won't take you home to meet dad, really they won't.

I have dropped in at the PBG a few times this week and the vibe is very relaxed and the meals excellent.

Pete, maybe have a printed sheet or a laminated menu where the punter can just tick or circle his food preferences?

These could even be left with the punter rather than staff hanging around waiting for the patron to decide what they want.

This would take pressure off the the service people, who I must say have been smiling, fast and corteous.

Good idea jimmac.

I have just added it to the website. You can access it direct using this link Pattaya Beer Garden Menus

Pete, thanks for posting. The menu looks great. Nice to see you have expresso. And nice to see you have a wine (and would be nice if you posted it too!). I look forward to checking out the Beer Garden later this month.

hahaha I had to laugh at your observations Pete.....so many guys sit there waiting and then wonder why other guys get all the good ones!

As my Mum used to say...if you don't ask, you don't get!

Cheers

9 Freelancers total. All in the 5-6 range.

I've been to Peter's new place each of the two nights I have been in town. Wow, what a place. I needn't go anywhere else. Everything he says is true. He's hit a 'home run' with this venue.

There's always someone to chat with and plenty of girls have been available -- and, as he says some are real stunners.

I've eaten there each of the two nights as well and the food is excellent and I have found the prices to be reasonable. If you go anywhere else on Walking Street, with the views and ambiance this place has, you'll pay at least twice as much.

If you visit, you won't be disappointed.

Firstly Pete could I wish you all the best with the bar, I think its a great idea and just what Pattaya needs.

Could I question however your views on how the freelancers operate. I was in the bar last night and found it difficult to get anyone of them to show any interest. Maybe its because the bar is so big that you are sat along way from the girls (or maybe its because I'm not an hansom man!). I saw one sat on her own by the sea and checked for a few minutes that she was on her own. So walked over and said hello hoping to be invited to sit down, but she gave me the cold shoulder in no uncertain terms. So I had to walk all the way back to bar feeling a prat. Is there some secret to knowing who is working and who is not ?

Anyway I'll keep trying, all the best for the bar.

Popped in last night, had two ladies before i even sat down ! :3some a couple of drinks on the balcony, then off we went :bow

P.S. found another great view from there, from the bar i could see the ladies cloakroom, one girl was carefully examining her make - up in the mirror and bent forward to do so ! she was wearing a VERY short skirt and flashed her rather nice toot ! ! :D ! ! she realised, turned round and winked at me ! ! YUP another great view.

The first thing I did last night was hit Pete's new place after I rolled into town. I was up for over 30 hours prior to hitting the bar and traveling most of that time, and thus ready to crash when I checked into the hotel. But, I wanted to check things out. The place definitely lives up to what has been stated online. I found it to be a great place to hang out and I, despite being out of it for reasons previously mentioned, didn't notice any problems with availability of and interest from the freelancers. Maybe they like sleepy man who has not chance of long boom boom.

I tried the food and and sampled various drinks and things were not bad. The only negatives I found is that they were out of many of the drinks I ordered and was pretty much restricted to the basic beers. I understand if that is just a logistical supply issue during the early days of a new bar as it works out the kinks, but hope supply ramps up going forward.

It is a great place to chill out and chit chat with others though without being pressured. And, Pete provides a very warm welcome.

I'll be heading back there again in about an hour for another go now that I have had some sleep :)

Cheers,

Jay

I and a few others were at an adjacent table when this picture was taken. It's a pity you don't have a pic from when she was standing; that was quite a spectacular sight as I recall!

I hope I'll be able to make it this year.....and your business seems to fill in a "niche" that I missed on my last trips !

Hope to see you when I get there, seems like the place where I want to spent time !

Keep up the good work !

I really do wish you every success with this venture. I won't be in Pattaya until September but I will be sure to pay a visit or three. The Beer Garden in Bangkok was one of my favourite places but seems to have gone downhill recently plus the girls are asking silly money. It is about time Pattaya had an equivalent venue at reasonable local prices for the ladies. Once again, well done and good luck!

What a great place !

After my previous success with the two girls the other night, i thought i'd have another shot last night, after turning down the advances of a couple of girls sat at a table, i wandered around a bit seeing what was on offer, as i passed one who appeared to be with someone, she asked me to sit at the bar with her, we chatted, i got her a drink and we moved out to one of the balconies, after a couple more drinks, we headed off, WOW was she HOT ! ! ! even had a piercing "down there" which was a bit of a shock as i found it with my tongue, i don't normally expect to find chunks of metal down there. :clap1 :D

P.S. best tasting pussy ever ! Aloy ALoy !

I've just realised this is turning a bit of a T. R. i'll stop now.

I also dropped in last night for a nice plate of fish and chips. First I thought there wasn many people there. i took a quick count... 96!

Any bar would be rapt in those numbers.

There was a good smattering of quality girls too.

As the word gets around this place will be very popular.
