Whats the lowest fare you've ever paid to Los ?

Recommended Posts

For myself 325 pounds in 1994 on Tarom out of Heathrow.

Cant remember exactly what the taxes etc were but was either a fiver or a tenner  :D

And the most was 540 pounds on Thai summer of 1995. Never paid more than that (economy) ever since.

Back in 2003 or 2004, I paid $88.USD on Cathay Pacific R/T from JFK to BKK. It was a mistake fare but they honored it. I paid more in taxes then the fare.

First time i went in May 2004 paid £330 all in,with Thai from Heathrow.

The most ive paid was £600 Nov 2008 (Because of oil price spike) Also airport was closed so had to divert to Singapore/Phuket and train to Pattaya costing another £200 so making £800 in total and 3 days traveling.

How come free isn't mentioned. I fly free reasonably often, less than free if you count no money at all for the ticket, plus an upgrade.

I could have added usage of standby tickets on BA/QF at 90 pound a pop but obviously I was referring to standard revenue tickets

Even FF tickets are not free. You wind up paying Tax and other charges.

MM,

You are very correct there.

I have booked 2 'miles' trips for next year. The fees for the one in April was $42 US and the one for September was $47 US. Maybe I got over charged for the later one, will check today.

As far as buying a regular ticket, about 3 years back on Northwest got a R/T for $699 all in. Those days are all long gone.

Maybe we need a thread on who has paid the most for a ticket to the LOS.

I'm embarresed to say that My upcoming Christmas trip cost be about $2170 US, the most I have every paid for a ticket anywhere, but the up-side is the trip is First/Business all the way with upgrade coupons.

Tell me more I am aware of the principle but how does it work on the ground?

Brother worked for British Airways at the time and standby tickets for immediate family were normally around 90 pound return.

Used them approx 50 times-only 2 occasions couldnt get the seat outbound after arriving Heathrow, but on Bangkok London leg got on every time.Helped when BA started code sharing with QF as you could use their motors as well.

Its a standard concession in the industry.

I treated myself for the trip which starts in 7 days time, i booked Emirates in First Class when the price dipped in May of this year and got what i believe to be a fair price of £2560 ($4147) for a round trip, two legs

of which are on the A380 and 3 of the legs of the journey i am in what is described as a First Class Suite.

Plus i can get a Chauffeur driven Limo to and from the airport all in the price.

Never flown first before, always business class on my long trips and paid not far away from the above first class price.

Time will tell whether it was worth it.

Well have to be a lot of Gin and Tonics to be worth it, but what the hell.

Did you book this directly with their website or through an agent?

I am getting about that for Biz Class with some carriers, and it would be well short for my favourite Singapore!

I used Kayak.co.uk to track the fares of business and first and they sent me an email daily with the updated prices.

Once the price was right i clicked the kayak link and it sent me to the emirates own website and the terms of cancellation

was a £100 fee if cancelled up to the day of departure and that was important.

Last year (2008) i booked through westeasttravel to fly Thai airways in first class, i paid £3200 and the yellow shirt thing

happened and i had to change, westeast caused me a lot of hassle changing and after the charge of £175 and the cost

of flying Business on Cathay Pacific to Manila (which cost nearly as much as the first class fair on Thai because i changed so late in the day)

then i had to fight to get them to refund the balance of £209, although i got it eventually.

Currently on Kayak, the cheapest for business on my dates is Thai at £2267 and emirates is showing at £2648 through Expedia or £3310

direct with Emirates.

For first class Thai is about £3613 and Emirates is about £3679, both with Ebookers,

Normally with Expedia etc the booking terms are worse in that there can be a no change/use it or lose it situation, so you have to be careful

with them.

6 days and one doctors appointment and hopefully he will say its ok to fly and i am away.

Similar to bigdusa. They posted infant fare as full adult fare on expedia, and they had to honor it. LAX to BKK round trip taxes ect all in for $142. I also got miles as well. The only mistake I made was not booking several tickets, virtually every date or flight I put in was available. I could have booked one flight a week for over a year and gotten into the courier business, because at that time they allowed a fair amount of luggage as well. Oh well still got a nice trip in cheap.

I paid $670 US RT for my flight on Asiana Airlines from West Coast of USA to Bangkok last month (November 09). Asiana is now my favorite carrier! Service and food was great. Hot Korean stews and free booze!
