My name is Dale, the new owner of Bob's BBQ

Recommended Posts

Hello Pattaya! I'm Dale Burney, the new owner of Bob's BBQ on Soi LK Metro off Soi Diana. I am 47 years young and have recently moved to sunny Pattaya from sunny Florida. I am a member of the Pattaya City Expats Club and am involved in other local charities.

I would like to thank the Pattaya expat community for the warm welcome I have received since I purchased the restaurant in October 2010.

If you're still looking for good old fashioned slow smoked babyback ribs, authentic mexican style food, and some of the biggest meals in Pattaya, we are open from 11:30 am to 12:00 midnight, 7 days a week.

Please come give us a try. I promise you won't be disappointed. Our hamburgers are 100% chuck and our babybacks are dryrubbed for 24 hrs., then slow cooked for 6 hours. The pulled pork sandwich is out of this world and very popular.

I haven't changed too many of Bob's recipes for the BBQ'd food because if you have all the right ingredients for these dishes they just don't need to be changed.

On the mexican side of the menu, (being that I was trained by a gentleman from Mexico City), I have made some improvements to the flavor and included some items that were previously unavailable.

Our tel: 038-424302 (We accept take away orders).

We are located at soi LK Metro off Soi Diana.

Or you may order online:

Classic LOL , Tequila Reef being cited as an example of good food:   "I will not return and try the food until I see a significant change in the reports on the food. It has been, shall I say, RANCID

Welcome to the board Dale. I wish you the very best in building BB back up. It's reputation declined quite rapidly and markedly over the last 1-2 years (see comments on this and other fora), and you have your work cut out.

I've been reading some rather scathing reports about the quality of at least some of your offerings...something to do with chicken.

I hope it is a matter of opinion, and not some problem endemic to the restaurant.

I personally hope that you can achieve a high quality for your restaurant's offerings, and that you are using the finest (and freshest) ingredients.

Good luck to you, but you have an uphill battle after Bob reportedly let the place go downhill prior to your purchase.

If I could offer some advice, Bob's Mexican was shite the last two times I tried it. You might want to improve this part of the menu. If you stay with what was in place, I doubt I will ever return.

Good luck on your investment. :chogdee

Gotta agree with most of the comments here.

Bobs was only "ok" at best.... with the Mexican menu being horrible.

Mikes Mexican is going to be a hard act to follow - their food is awesome, and made with fresh ingredients.

I will come try tho... always willing to re-evaluate. Will post a full report in this thread after :)

Not at all out of order. I didn't want to be telling tales out of school, but that is a fine suggestion.

Dale - read what he wrote, and do it.

i will most definitely look into it .personally i have tried the chicken wings and they were pretty darn good but sometimes reteaching recipes takes an adjustment that sometimes has to be retaught until the quality i desire and paying customers require is achieved thank you for you input it is very valuable to me as a new restaraunt owner .Dale

I ate there last week after taking an 18 month break from the place. I stopped eating there because the items I ordered were never in stock.

Last week, I had the Taco Salad and a burger. The burger was so-so, not terrible, but not any better than the other places on the street; basically meatball consistency as opposed to burger consistency. The Taco Salad with chicken however, was abominable. None of the "Mexican" ingredients listed on the menu were in the salad, including re-fried beans or black olives. The chicken had NO taco seasoning at all; it was just shredded overcooked chicken. The entire salad consisted of lettuce, unseasoned and overcooked chicken, a small sprinkling of tomato, and an even smaller sprinkling of cheese. The "salsa" that was included was raw tomato puree with no other seasonings, and there was a small bag of sour cream as well. There was nothing "Taco," or even remotely Mexican about it, except for the bowl.

I hope that's not what you pass of as Mexican food after learning how to cook from a "Mexican." If that's your improved flavor, I can only imagine what it used to taste like.

Looks like another 18 month break for me.

i will most definitely look into it

Why did you not "look into it" instead completely ignore when you went to the RH for a drink the same day ???

The food when Bob was there was rancid, sounds like its gotten worse, I wont be eating there nor anyone else I know.
