Public type toilets in Pattaya

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks, thought I'd start a thread to make a list of toilets where you don't have to go and buy a drink, or pay 5 baht, in Pattaya. I don't mind the 5 baht, but often these bar complexes are only oep in the evening, what if you want to go at 9 in the morning?

So far:

Royal Plaza

Big C complex N Pattaya

Mike Shopping

some of these don't open until later in the morning either.

Virtually impossible to sneak into a bar or hotel lobby and go for free

Try the Lek Hotel. They have a back entrance away from the buffet and front desk. Matter of fact, the toilet is virtually a few feet from the entrance. Should be no problem sneaking in and out.

Nah. By law, all public businesses must allow all the public to use their toilets - definitely including bars and hotel-lobby toilets. I don't doubt a couple of farang managers might try to get shirty about it, but they have no choice if you simply insist - and the entire Thai staff knows that and most certainly will never make a fuss so long as you don't actually escalate any dispute.

Your hotel doesn't have a toilet? Why do you need a public toilet in the morning before shops open? Never mind, don't answer. All the malls or big markets such as tukcom have toilets.

As you know, the law and the reality on the ground are somewhat different.

If the existence of this law is true, then why do you have to pay 5b to use a toilet in a bar area?

Just go in and say it's free to the public....right.

Not what I wrote, and not what the law is. The law doesn't say you (at FLB) have to provide free toilet use. It says you have to allow the public to use your toilets - that is, any tom, dick or somchai can walk into the bar, use the toilet and walk out. Free access.

Of course you can charge for any service your bar offers. If you charge your customers 100 baht to use the toilet, then tom, dick and somchai will have to fork over 100 baht too. If you charge nothing, you can't charge them. And so on.

This is a very common law, that "just is" in Thailand, all Thais are raised with this, and there's never a dispute when Thais are involved. It's very ingrained and I don't even think that most Thais realise it's an actual law - it's just the way things are done. But there is a law.

Heh.

It you're really bored some day, make a big deal about it, call the cops, etc. Could be fun.

I really love that place :clap2 , and if you're not a customer, why should you be allowed to use the toilets in a bar or restaurant without paying?

Free access then doesn't mean free cost to use. Gotcha.

I just wear swimming trunks all day.

So, if I need to piss, I just walk into the ocean for a bit.

That sign is a bit nasty sounding. But, what is really bad is, it's not in the language of those that come in and use it, and then walk right back out.

Great bar, and since they introduced that rule no more foot prints on the toilet rim. :whistling:

Perhaps as a farang one would not regarded as 'the public'......

True. Arabic, Russian, and Hindi might be more effective.

Btw, all proceeds go into the staff tip jar, not the bar income.

Would you let non-guests take a crap in your house? Why shouldn't businesses be able to determine who uses their toilet? I can understand public areas but a bar does not have to provide toilet access to non-customers.

is this what the western xchange rates has come to? Where even 5b is too much to pay for a leak? Some other post even suggest bringing old shoes to a massage and stealing other's newer ones!

Anyway , who says you cant sneak into hotels for the toilet. I've done it many times when nature called. B) I even once asked the room rate at the Marriot just to cut across from Beach road to 2nd road

Now that some places are charging the price of 2 whiskeys in New Plaza to use the jacks to strain the spuds there are still places where value can be found.

Anyone that dines regularly or makes purchases at bhuakow market (clothes or women) will know about this facility at the rear of the market. ... no wellies or facemask required.

The doors are distant enough from the comode that fat people can get inside.

I dont mind paying the 3 baht.rps20110327_053412.jpg

FFS it's only 5 Baht :banghead

And no doubt the same people whinging about having to pay for toilets are the same guys who whinge about the price of beer and the cost of barfines, despite being willing to pay hundreds of pounds/dollars to fly half way round the world to have some fun!!! :thumbup

Just because you said it doesn't make it so. I don't want to keep up using you for a reference point.

Gee Zeus wept!

The law (and common practice) in Thailand is that the bar must provide PUBLIC access to the toilets.

Now.

You either can disprove that simple, positive statement and be right, or you're wrong. I don't mind being wrong, go ahead and show I am.

I don't mind being wrong either and I don't plan on going to a Thai lawyer to prove you wrong. Maybe if you posted the thai law people would believe you. But it still isn't true just because you say it is.
