Russians screw babes and marry tractors, that's a rule? That what you're saying?

You joe are a bigot. What evidence do you have to support your assertion? I admire Russians because they have thrown of the yoke of communism Please provide any evidence of your vile bigotry.

It isn't so simple.... Under the commies the universal enemy was given for the people: The government... even the members of the commie party ( it was mandatory for many jobs ) hated some of the propa

The Fiend's reply was in direct response to BigD's "innocent quote". I didn't see anything wrong with it - it seemed a perfectly innocent question. I think you're making a mountain out of a moleh

There is the innocent quote, Greg. It's a question to the OP and on topic. The Sky Top is not mentioned. TheFiend brought up "the hostel on 2nd Road".

I'm still more then satisfied with Sky-Top but since I've survived three strokes. I find I'm having difficulty climbing stairs. I'm looking to move to a hotel with elevator service.

Now we are up to 3 strokes and another mention of the "SkyTop" (20 times this year in other threads) :devil

Most of the Russians I've met came off at first as being serious, aloof, and private. But after getting to know them, were just as friendly as anyone else.

Next, I despise George W. Bush. His notion of compassionate conservatism is anathema to me. I'm all for compassion and charity at the personal level, but when the government expropriates some peoples wealth against their will to give to the poor, that is in my estimation as pure evil.

He just said it, he didn't really mean it. Give him another chance.

Once again, Big D makes an innocent comment on the topic . . .

How about giving us the guy's name. Sounds like a guy I'd like to rent from.

. . . and woooosh, here come the vultures. :devil

What's up? Not happy with "that" hostel on Second Road???

Sky Top would not have been mentioned if TheFiend hadn't thread-fucked with his BigD obsession. Seriously, you guys need to get a hobby. Might I suggest :wanker

Back on topic, what is up with the OP? :clueless

I am a tea party supporter and I am proud of it. The tea party movement represents all that is good in the American mind.

Ok, so you're a tea-party supporter who hates W because he "compassionately" took money from people and gave it to the poor? Are we talking about the same "W"?

However, I did enjoy the way you railed on Joe.

It made no sense, but I enjoyed it.

Sorry mate but I'm with LD on this one, if these people don't want to get soaked on what is Songkran, then they should avoid coming at this time of year. I got to the entrance of WS on the 18th, seen all the water throwing activities, shrugged my shoulders and proceded up WS stopping at various bars along the route. Did I get wet? Yes I did. Did I spit my dummy out and react with anger? No. Why? Because I told myself one thing......When in Rome, do as the Romans do! All night long I seen Russians, other Eastern Europeans and Arabs reacting violently to being soaked. In my opinion they should not venture out to these hotspots where water throwing is at it's most, they should sit in the hotel bar and be miserable there.

Drenching passers by is nothing to do with Songkran. The Thai custom is to splash a little water over folk and then an application of talcum powder and then only if they consent, it is intended as an act friendliness and affection. Moronic Falangs have hijacked the festival and introduced the water cannons and the slinging of buckets of water over people with or without their permission.

I've nothing against the newly introduced habit of drenching folk from head to toe but only if both parties are in agreement. If you see some victims react with violence and anger does not that tell you something? It indicates that they do not wish to be soaked and their wishes should be respected. The Thai police have tolerated this disrespect of their custom up to now but this year they have started confiscating water cannons as they consider things have began to get out of hand.

Perhaps queueing is not their strong point! I had problems with them several times at my local 7/11 queue jumping.

Same here. The only problem I have had with them is queue jumping at a 7/11 Nth end of Walking St. Happened several times and every time I had to tell them to piss off and join the queue. Maybe they did not understand my english, I am Australian  but they managed to get the drift of what I was saying.

I would guess that when they book a week or two in Pattaya. They don't have a clue on what is going on during Songkran. The travel agent isn't going to tell them and I would suspect for the most part they are inexperienced international travelers. Like many others on this forum. I've experienced songkran and I avoid Thailand during this period.

Not sure how inexperienced they'd be but not knowing about the reality of Songkran in Pattaya is a reasonable assumption. Heck, I read about it but like the whole P4P scene, until you're there, it doesn't translate 100%.

Much more likely the travel agent would tell them how lucky they are to be booked right at the time of the Thai New Year, a real cultural treat.

Personally, I find them fascinating. :chogdee

:thumbup :clap2 Fucking funny .....

I spent my youth in Russia ( University ) and I really love them... ( much more, than my own hungarians ) I had my best friends in Russia, I'm always defended the russians from the dumb racist / commie comments etc. etc...

However... they started to annoy me too... not because of their talking style, ( I'm understand it, I'm fluent in russian ) but because they started to ruin my fun...

1. Living in Jomtien I found hard to get a bahtbus going to Pattaya, just because those annoying pricks hire the bahtbuses... I may wait for 10-15 minutes, looking on 10-15 bahtbuses 2-3-4 russians hired and don't stopped.... The typical LDOP syndrome...

2. For my very big surprises many girls reported me the following: the russian couple enter in the GOGO bar... pays a lot of the ladydrinks... and having fun... later - probably when the russian girl already sleep - the man coming back to the bar... and hire the thai girl for a quickie... ST room, 10 minutes, full barfine paid, agree for any prices... just like the asian visitors... Guess your chances for the LT or an extended ST... :ang2

Aloof, rude, unsmiling, all fit the bill IMHO. They don't even seem to socialise with each other, but stick to there own family groups. Pretty (literally) boring race i'd say in general. Not sure about them staying in cheap out of town hotels though. The 5 star Ambassador out on the Suk Rd is full of them. 5 years ago i'm thinking it would have been full of yanks. Sign of the times?

Not really a fair comment. Have you ever tried to look at things from the other side? Falangs also look unfriendly to russians , chinese , indians as falangs only smile to thai girls! :chogdee

Add a language barrier to that and both sides will think each other are boring and unfriendly. I am sure if the language barrier was broken , you'll see the whole people differently. Thais looked different when we first visited Thailand ; didnt they? :thumbup

Nearly 10 years ago I went to a New Years Eve party at the Ambassadors - it was held outside at the beach . Fabulous night - multiple bands - huge array of foods , Thai , Chinese , Russian , English - plenty of booze - and there were 4500 people there (give or take a few) - over 3000 of them were Russian , It was a great evening , no trouble of any kind although many people were drunk . We all mixed together and enjoyed ourselves .

i think on average they stay in better hotels than farangs. A lof othem are on holiday packages and these packages are normally with the bigger Hotels

I don't agree. If you observe a group of farangs in most holiday situations you will see them in light hearted conversation, a bit of winding up going on, laughing and joking, backslapping etc. You will also see interplay between different groups of farang.

I repeat, the majority of Russians i've seen in Patts though undoubtably a well groomed and attractive bunch, tend to stick in their immediate family groups, avoid interplay with other groups farang OR Russian, and have a sullen demeanor. Up to them, their holiday. That is just my observation. Language barriers are broken down all over the world pretty easily if the will is there, and in any case that doesn't apply to their aloofness with fellow Russian family groups.

*Puts on rose tinted glasses*

For me, part of the travel experience is meeting all the different people I encounter along the way, from all over the world, in the same way I used to enjoy spending time in farmer country up north, meeting people away from tourism areas and finding out about their lives and what makes them tick, I'm always interested to meet people, find out about them, I may even get on some people's nerves with the amount of questions I may ask. LOL

I travel alone though and this makes you feel more inclined to chat with a stranger, that could be someone on the train en route to the airport, in an airport, in a shared taxi to Bangkok, in a Pattaya bar, on a beach somewhere, you get the picture.

I'm a social-able person as well, (must be the Scottish side of my family rather than English?) but while I appreciate not everyone wants to socialise in the same way, I don't understand why people see this or that race as a negative thing, we could all pick fault with 'what we don't like about the Brits, the French, the Russians' but the truth is, just about every race is far from the perfect guest on foreign soil.

I remember meeting some American Marines that had just come from Sri Lanka, helping to deal with the post Tsunami misery, before meeting them in this Gogo bar, I'd already got chatting to this really friendly (yet a little crazy) Russia guy who was full of fun and life, then the Americans came and joined in the party and we all had a great time, a really touching moment for me was when these marines realised the guy next to me was Russian and all took turns to give this guy a hug. (A cold war thing I presume)

That for me, is what makes trips great, the experiences of meeting new people, along with the obvious added bonus of lot's of sexy girls of course.
