Maybe I'm becoming a feminist

Recommended Posts

I was not a fan of ping pong balls when they started appearing in the gogos. I thought it was demeaning for the girls to fight to get hold of them. My mind was changed when a girl assured me that the girls enjoyed them as a bit of fun and as a very useful source of some income at times when, for example, they are unwell.

Last evening I went to upstairs at Baccara and the evening before to Angelwitch. At both places there were small groups of Asians who were almost certainly Japanese. I'm sure we have all seen them buy multi-baskets of ping pong balls and throw fist fulls of 20 Baht notes, but I had never seen it done on the scale I saw the last two evenings. It reminded me of going to Underwater World and seeing the divers go into the water with buckets of food to feed the sharks, turtles etc.

The worst point was at Baccara when the girls were almost begging the Japs to give them more notes and the Japs refused unless the girls walked around in a circle like schoolchildren in a playground. Needless to say the girls obliged.

I thought the girls were stripped of their dignity, and the Japs looked complete arseholes - no credit to anyone concerned.

And what is the effect on us? The amount the girls are able to get without moving from the bar must push up ST and LT prices. And if the girls are treated with such disrespect, it would hardly be surprising if they treat their customers the same way.

Market economics at work. I have no special sympathy for the Japanese, but beware the stones you throw lest we find them raining down amongst ourselves... What's the real and final difference between their circles and ours?

I suspect it is cultural - both in the way they regard women and in how they entertain clients and contacts.

I wouldn't worry about the 'demeaning' bit, it's just a bit of interaction. I think guys can look pretty demeaning too when there's 22 of them chasing around a leather ball for big bucks  . But like you say some bars have gone softcore or frilly; not much we can can do about that, best find the traditional clubs with better value.

How is it any less demeaning than having sex with someone you dislike for money?

Personally I would prefer to walk in a circle for a bunch of leering fools

than drop to my knees and have to service them :whistling:

When I first saw the ping pong ball thing, I thought it was demeaning too. However, I now agree with BigD...this is harmless fun compared to 'going to hotel'. Just ask them. Also, for the girls that don't get barfined much, ping pong balls are much needed income.

I think your last line is spot on. I know several girls that count on ping pong balls, tips and salary to make it each month, and only 'go with customer' if the price and situation is very good for them.

I guess the throwing of the ping pong balls does no harm the same as throwing money onto the stage. It is more of a cultural look at the way the asian men look at the woman versus others. Just my humble opinion but looking at the asians, (Korean, Japanese) they through the balls and money to inflate their ego and idea of self importance. To them and their culture looking rich and flaunting their wealth makes them a better more important person. You also see it in their XXX movies, where most of them depict the girl as being a student, or forced into acts which the girl acts like she does not want to perform. Also the girls wimpering in the Japanese movies is a huge turnoff for me but seems to be what the men expect from the girl. These are just my opinions but after having lived many years in Asia I think it comes down to the male needed to show that he is dominant and one way to do that is by showing of for his fellow monger friends.

whats more dignified , jumping for ping pong balls , or smiling while some drunk tries to fist you ?

Joe

Exactly. In another thread a non Japanese said that he was bored with sticking 2 to 3 fingers up a girl's arse in Windmill and asked for recommendations for another place where..um..he could stick fingers up their arses....Indeed at least one response said that it was better if there was more than one of you doing it..(Desmond Jones)

Agreed.

It's only demeaning if the girls find it so. I'm sure any that do , wouldn't chase them or may even work freelance or not be a sex worker at all. It sounded like the girls were enjoying the money. It's not up to westerners to judge behaviour between asian groups.

I've been in Southeast Asia off an on since 1968 and I still have trouble getting it,so I don't think you or your buddy Op will ever get it and If you do you'll find out that nobody in Thailand really cares anyways, besides why do you care anyways if someone is spending money on ping pong balls and the girls are jumping up an down for them, the girls much rather do that and sit and listen to some old or young boring dude tell them about his country and what a HERO he is.

shock! the girls wanted BILLS and the horrible Japanese made them walk around in a circle!

seriously, I don't see the big deal here. not my thing, but it really doesn't sound that bad. they walk in a circle and make more doing that than they might make taking it up the ass from some cheap charlie.

that said, if I was in a place and a large group of guys came in and started throwing silly money around I'd probably check bin and find another place. I'm not going to compete with guys that throw money.

live & let live.

They have to do both so your comment is no good mate.I am with Bruiser, very demeaning and arent we all glad we have money,as there are plenty of gay bars that stoop to low levels too.

Suggest your take your Western morality, ideals and judgmental attitude and check them at the airport when you arrive. You can pick them up when you leave.

You will have a much more pleasant experience here in the Kingdom.
