Goodwill tot he owner?   Think of how much more it would be worth if he did not hit customers over the head with beer bottles...

I like the place, I have stayed there twice in the past, and Alex is a nice chap to spend and evening with and generous to boot, not staying there next time I go, only due to the fact the soi is now b

I have a feeling, that you have never stayed in a 4 star hotel.   Hotelstar Excerpt of the catalogue of criteria Tourist 100% of the rooms with shower/WC or bath tub/WC - Daily room cleaning - 1

emmm seams that he reckons it makes in excess of 2,500,000 Bhat (50,000 POUNDS) per year clear PROFIT :clueless

It seems a little high to me, but you never know :gulp

Is that before or after he has paid himself and wife?

No idea and not that interested but this is what he says in his post on live

"the only figure i will give is that as business stands i would expect to make a minimum profit of 15 million baht in that 6 years"

I would think that is what he is saying can be made after ALL expenses

A self-employed individual (if that is what he is) would show profit without deducting a salary for himself. If it is the profit of, say, a company, profit would be shown after all salaries, including those paid to directors.

My GUESS is that it is profit before paying himself. £50K a year is no great shakes if that is the case, bearing in mind responsibilities, risks and hours worked.

Is the forum, photos, personal details, posts, threads and private messages being sold to any person with money. I dearly hope not, this could be a big disaster for any members on there.

Why?

Why?

Because there are many untrusted guys around. The forums pictures could be opened up. PM's made public, posts made public... email lists sold. Not good for those married etc.

Its worse case scenario. IMO the forum should only be offered to a moderator or someone known and trusted. Forums are dangerous if in the wrong hands. They can destroy lifes via slander etc

Well, some shouldn't be posting something that could be so detrimental to themselves.

You have lost me here. I don't see where any PM's were made public, e-mail lists sold. Pictures and posts can be copied by any member of any area that they have access to. Just as it can happen on your forum.

Anyone that wants pictures or information private, should not post it on a forum that anyone with an e-mail address can join. Members that post personal information should use good judgement, and accept responsibility for themselves, for doing so.

If this is some back handed accusation that MM is selling e-mail addresses, or Publishing PM,s, than I have to say that I don't believe it. I have known MM for a few years now, and been a member of this board for a few. I can not think of one instance where I have seen MM act unethically in his business, or on the board. In my opinion, PattayaTalk is held to a much higher ethical standard than other Pattaya boards. I could list numerous examples if I had the time and energy. I've also seen MM call others out when they were acting unethically. Click today's active content, and you can find an example of that right now.

hes not talking about MM

Their is one person who was booted of ADDICTS and and made threats that he had made copies of peoples posts and copies of their photos and was going to give them to pattaya Police. He might be talking about this person.

He is right their is a lot of trust put in the forum administrators hands as the stuff we talk about and do here is not exactly legal, so IMO any who has told authorities or threatened to tell authorities so be banned.

I went back and reread post, #8 he asks, "Is the forum, photos, personal details, posts, threads and private messages being sold to any person with money. I dearly hope not, this could be a big disaster for any members on there." I assume by that he was referring to the forum being sold along with the bar. Guess I didn't catch that, the first time through. I think the answer to that is obvious. A buyer that was going to keep the place the rockhouse, they would insist on having the forum with it. I would guess that 90% of the rockhouse business is directly related to the forum. If the buyer was going to change to a restaurant, or small gogo, laundry, the forum probably wouldn't even come up. I remember a while back a claim of what he thought the place was worth, and the income generated. I know what many of the bars on Soi LK have sold for in the last couple of years, so I would say the numbers were grossly inflated.

When I stayed in LK for my Oct/Nov/Dec trip the Rock House was rocking

This seemed very busy , good atmosphere and had a buzz about it, a few parties to boot

the Scottish bloke who owns it was always decent with me, sociable and the girls where fun.

I would of said the Rock House was a well run profitable business.

April/May trip the place was much quietier and many times passing the place had few customers

August/Septemer trip I passed the place many times over 6 weeks, the place was empty every time

No Boss, No girls and just a shell of it's former self.

Did the boss loose interest, for a single unit bar I though it the busiest on the soi this time last year.

Would a future owner need to start from scratch, no goodwill trade anymore, in which buillding it back up is a larger prospect than taking over a success.

I drive by RH about 4 times a week and whenever I see Alex or a known BM there I stop for a beer.

Sad to say I have stopped 2 or 3 time in the past couple of months.

If I owned the joint and had it for sale I'd spend as much time there as I could every day to show an up-swing in business before the sale.

Regardless, a new owner has to make his own business.

During the first few months after the sale many regulars will check out he bar and the new owner and perhaps he (she) can keep them coming, but YES the new owner has to start from scratch.

bloke down the pub told me Glitterman and the German Hobo were exploring the Roch Haus purchase...and putting together a group that included Thai money from the white face lady and popular Pattaya performance artists like the break dancing kids.

So why did the owner post it on his own forum?
