It was one of the most horrible feelings that I have ever had. I hated every moment of it and only stayed because a friend and myself did a double and he found it total fun. There you go. We are all so bloody different!

I tried it, and the first time I did, they had to nearly hold me in the tank because it was like an electric shock with the most ticklish sensation I have ever felt.

The attendant kept saying "Wait 1 minute". It was a very LOOOONG minute, but eventually, the sensation died down to a pleasant feeling.

I think my reaction was not atypical, since the attendant seemed to take it in stride.

Additionally, I tried it again, and didn't have a problem with overwhelming ticklish sensations like the first time.

TBH, I didn't check. I figured after sitting 45 minutes in water being eaten a piece at a time by carnivorous fish, I was lucky to have my toes.

If you're looking for a place to get this done, try Avenue Shopping Center on 2nd road across from Soi 13, second level just below the movie theater. I think its 100 baht. I haven't done this, mostly because it seems inherently dangerous. I someone does this with a foot disease or a fungus, couldn't the fish transmit this to you?

It was quite good especially when I dangled my nob in the water and let the fish nibble all the cheese off.

God thing the water wasn't cold.......with shrinkage the fish could have nibbled your nob off and left the cheese.

I think the Jury is still out on this one.

Maybe I will go watch some people having it done and go from there.

Thanks for all the input except Paps, didn't need to know how you clean your nob, obviosly your heigene level is very low if you allow cheese to grow. :yikes:

I've had it done and they did a great job of removing all the dead skin without touching the healthy skin. However, the fish in the Avenue are the wrong fish. The proper ones are expensive, so a lot of the stalls use cheap algae eaters instead - similar size & colour. They will rasp over the feet, but that's all, they don't target the dead skin like the proper fish do - they can't, they have the wrong type of mouth. They won't do any harm, but not much good either. Basically, if the fish are clamped to the sides of the tank with mouth suckers, move on, wrong fish. The real ones will be free swimming or resting on the bottom, NOT clamped on, they don't have that type of mouth.

Same Same for me.

I was in agony the full time.

I squealed like a big girls blouse and then looked up after a while to see a gaggle of school kids

had gathered around to witness the silly falang making a coont of himself.

I made my excuses and left.

cheers rogero :beer :beer :beer

Yeah, that reminds me. My reaction provided entertainment for many passersby on Soi Honey too.

I'm so glad others have had a similar reaction!

Whilst this started as an average topic I now feel so much better because I am not the only one that thought this a dreadful experience. Bugger the passer-byes-it was the massage girls that I didnt want to look weak to but sure as hell I did. Thanks all!!

Yup. I did it last summer at Big C Shopping Mall, second floor as I recall.

It was very strange, and the little fishys went up and down in unison, while the shop girl from across the hall flirted. I sat for twenty minutes I think, and did'nt really notice any reall difference, (I think they say it improves circulation), and I don't remember what it cost. three to five hundred baht or something. I wanted something to tell people back home about, and it was nice, but don't think I'll do it again.

Next year I'll dance with a cobra, or put my head in a crocs mouth, move up to the big leagues.

It costs nothing to have the whole body nibbled if you visit Erawan Falls up in Kanchanaburi. All the beautiful cool pools up there at the bottom of each fall are filled with fish that nibble all your bits - be careful about your nipples - not the most fantastic bit to have chewed. However, if you just sit on the side of a pool and dangle your feet in the fish clean them up nicely and pleasantly.
