Chiangmai is regularly top of the charts!

Don't know how people get on up there, it is unpleasant down here.

This is so concerning for the young. I use to laugh at Greta but now not so sure. I get a yearly Chest CT because of a significant tobacco use previously. But that type of CA is treatable or at least buys me 3 more years on Soi 6, I'm 70 y/o so fine.  What will happen to young people with this pollution is tragic .Because like seatbelts and airbags the car companies objected to this harm can be prevented.

I think Gistda is working with faulty data. Pattaya has been at condition red with an AQI over 100 since 10am.

The air pollution has started in Bangkok again. I guess it won't be long before Pattaya is suffering as well.

Bad thing about this time of year, it becomes unhealthy to breathe the air here. Expect to be reading soon how the politicos will be doing something about the air pollution, real soon now.

On this morning's rideabout I thought I'd use my PM 2.5 detector to check the accuracy of the mobile AQI station they have on the beach footpath.

My monitor had the AQI at 6. As they say, "close enough for govt work".

My monitor was showing a temp 36.3, but not surprised it registered a higher temp as it was sitting on the black splash guard.

Not a good day to be breathing the air in paradise.

I turned on the PM2.5 detector in my home office and it read 77, then I turned on the floor fan and it immediately spiked up to about 90. That tells me the monitor is sensitive enough to detect the dust that gets kicked up when turning on the fan.

The air purifier is doing its thing and the reading is already down to 45 after running for a few minutes.

I have to say, this time of year it sucks living here.

Sent the drone up for a couple of photos of what an AQI of 150 looks like.

These are shots from 3.6 km from the Pattaya sign. Zoom is 1x, 3x, and then digital 9x.

the new safe level was over the old red level as i recall. coulb be wrong.
