This land is up near the Lao border east of Nong Khai, North Issarn I see. It is only likely to appeal to someone who has plans to move to that area, likely to be near relatives of the wife. I too have done what you appear to have done, brought in trucks and trucks of earth to fill in what was likely a rice paddy previously. One other factor is the proximity of utilities if one desires to build a house. IE How far to run electricity in, where is there a water supply? One of the expensive jobs on my lady's land was building a water storage, filtering and pumping equipment. Fortunately it was close to a dam fed irrigation system and a large drainage pond was already there as supply. Still, moving from party central to Nakhon Nowhere is a major decision!

You should not need to allow data roaming to get on a different network, treat the phone/SMS side as separate from the 'data' side. I do not have 2 SIMS in my phone but on Android, Connections, Mobile Networks, (for SIM 2), Network Operators, Search Networks.(Usually defaults to Automatic) You may also have a phone which does not allow concurrent Mobile Networks for Both SIMS, although that would surprise me. Did you enable roaming (for your Thai SIM, this is something you would do in Thailand. For AIS it was called 'Freedom Planet' when I enabled it years and years ago.)

Well I can log on with fingerprint on the phone, also PIN received using Thai Sim in UK on roaming (I use a different phone). Why does SIM 2 show blank, seems incorrect. Do you have roaming enabled for your Thai SIM? Try to get the Thai SIM to go to a different network.

I forget which network my AIS went onto, I thought it was Vodaphone. I could receive SMS for free so no issues with banking. Checking balance etc was trivial as I could do it online from my phone on O2 data or laptop.

I actually do have a Thai ticket (the great unwashed class) for flights this month, but this will not impact me threefold. Already bought it, fly before April 1st and for sure I don't want to be dragging 30kg around behind me!

Just heard that Thai Airways are to reduce the baggage allowance from 30 to 20 Kg.

Big C -Extra it says on the tin. This is a very popular Mall despite seeming a little out of town. Great exscape from the afternoon heat, which we got in spades at the moment. The Big C supermarket retains some of those hard to find things that it had when a Carrefour, cheeses and hams an example. Busy place. Popular food court too. Undercover parking which is still free. Easier to get to than Central Festival Beach Rd which seems to cater more to overpriced clothing and electronics.

I am out of touch with the UK rules and regs on this, but are blue badge owners truly allowed to park on double yellow lines? Still hardly comparable to the Thailand situation where disabled vehicles would be manhandled OUT of the disabled parking spot to allow some agile Hi-So in his flash car to park there.

It would seem simple to ask anybody with a phone, or sat nearby to receive a text or a hang up call to relay the number back to you. Does your daughter not have the number? Is it IOS or Android...

I often see the disabled on Sunday mornings heading from Father Ray to Big CX . Saddens me to see their path blocked by selfish people.

Well I guess T-Mobile have an arrangement with one of the main networks in Thailand to give you this 4G support for free. Have they got rid of that CDMA crap yet?

It may have unlimited data by Wi-Fi connection, (where a free on is available) how about when on network connection? I am not particularly knowledgeable about this but have always felt the USA networks to be rather manipulative and restrictive. Most people travelling swap SIMs to a local one when they arrive. I do when I go to the UK.

It seems to vary depending on carrier and the plan. I used to have what seemed like unlimited validity, but realized I was paying OTT for calls to other networks. I still seem to carry a years validity which is refreshed each top up. Top ups are no issue wherever I am, having mobile banking and the AIS App on the phone.

At a price that is effectively a little more than for 2 at some beer bars , it beats the GGBs hands down, yes, but I often wonder what the attraction is for the bars, does it simplify the workload for them, or do many people forego the second one?

There is a Pier 21 inside Terminal 21! Terminal 21 is a brand new shopping mall near the North Rd, 2nd Rd and Naklua Rd junction. As it is 10 years since you were here obviously it will be new to you. I regard it as superfluous to most like minded male tourists other than causing traffic hold ups.

Crikey, where to begin? Second Rd finished, there are lights at the Thrappaya end and at Soi Watboon. The former is a very busy junction. Place full of Russians right now. Airport bus still stops at the park by Foodmart. Actually you should use Google Maps and have a good look around,
