  7. On that basis they should really rip-off bar owners!
  8. Fifty baht each time will fill a lot of motorbikes. Most only hold 120-140 bahts worth. In Thailand they do the filling for you. My Shell station each attendant has to go to the cashier in a glass box to hand over the cash and get change. Perhaps a few 'reviews' on Google Maps would be an idea!
  9. PAL, plane always late, is how I remember them. And one English friend complaining that when you boarded most planes you were met with relaxing low level music, but PAL it was like entering a disco! Good to hear of improvements.
  10. It needs someone to catch them at it and creating a big fuss shouting Khmoy khmoy one day. I use a Shell Station near my house without ever a problem. I don't even understand why the pumps can be manipulated this way. If the nozzle is replaced, it should go to zero. Good heads up!
  11. I was having some pub grub in Pattaya and grabbed a newspaper recently and found myself reading one I had bought in the UK some weeks prior. Perhaps they are getting too expensive!
  12. This afternoon's rates.... Sterling recovering due to Brexit optimism I do not share!
  13. Well each year I prepare my 'pack' to do my annual renewal of extension. They do seem to come up with something a little different each year, just another copy of something not needed last year. They also remove those items that they deem unnecessary, this year, but were asked for last! It perhaps gives them job satisfaction. But overall the process is quite easy, and we are blessed with efficiency in Jomtiem, relative to what I hear from those who deal with more provincial offices. I hope to welcome you to the club of the blessed soon!
  14. Have you checked out the extra requirements for a multiple as opposed to a single entry Tourist Visa. It may vary in the USA , but for UK it s listed as :- Original bank statement of the applicant showing a balance of at least £5,000 (for 6 months) or a print out with official stamp of the bank A letter from the applicant's employer (in the UK and addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy) If you are self-employed, you self-assessment and a company registration document are required. A photocopy of the confirmed air ticket to Thailand A photocopy of the hotel reservation confirmation in Thailand Not insurmountable but it may put some off. The money 800,000, need only season for 60 days for a first time application, This means you could also arrive with a Single Entry Non_Imm O instead (getting a 90 day permission of stay). Then a conversion will not be required. Check that option out. I am not familiar with the 'conversion' process from a Tourist Visa to a Non-Imm O. Not all offices can do this, At one point only Bangkok was allowed, but I now believe Jomtiem can do it also. You will need to have the money in a Thai Bank account when you apply for the conversion. When you do get the Non-Imm O Visa conversion (2000 baht) you will be given a 90 day permission to stay, BUT I don't know if it is dated from that day, or backdated to your actual last entry. If you have concerns, visit Key Visa or equivalent and get their advice. Good luck.
  15. Okay....Shenandoh That damned tune will be in my head all afternoon now!
  16. Can mail postcards at the same time
  17. Hang on, Siam Sam you came back with Bogart for The Big Sleep, here. The Bogart film was 1946! The one I used for Robert Mitchum was 1978. Different films! Both playing Marlowe Oh bugger it.... The Big Sleep!
  18. Well it isn't that bad. A Visa run can start at 6am and be done with at 3pm, albeit a white knuckle ride!. Getting an extension isn't pointless, simply a few hours travelling to Jomtiem, 1900 baht and good for a month. If you pursue a Non-Imm-O from UK let us know how it goes.
  19. A cool breeezy morning with wind from the North, usually this means season change.

  20. The Big Sleep
  21. Things have changed a good bit over 10 years! You are correct a Non-Imm O permits a 90 day stay. The visa is also valid for 3 months. For 3 months I believe a tourist visa (60 days) and either an extension or border run to get another month would work. A Non-Imm O would also work.. For pensioner (aged 50 or over) : A copy of pension statement if the applicant is a pensioner, or a copy of 1-month bank statement showing your income from pension, or 3-month bank statement of at least £10,000 Ah the good old easy days, I used to get a multiple Non-Imm O, valid for 1 year and a border run every 90 days and could stay a total of near 15 months.. It was straightforward to get, 100 quid from Hull consular office! No more.... The link I gave is quite comprehensive and explains things well.
  22. Forecast is for clear and sunny for a few days, perhaps rainy season is done with.

      navidnavid

good to know , past couple days have been dry too....

  23. Time for the cameras! Worked well in Russia!
  24. Check out the embassy website... Link A non-Imm B would suggest you plan to do business or work, I suspect it more likely you mean O. Yes Non-Imm O gives 90 days and can be obtained based on retirement (with State Pension). Depends on how long you really expect to stay, a single entry tourist will give 60 days, with an extension for 30 more, also 3 months.
  25. Well I don't recall that F1 made it to Thailand yet, unless that was it whizzing past my restaurant on the Railway Line Bypass Rd last night! But hey, congratulations to Lewis Hamilton again!
