  1. 2018 Winter Olympics are to be held in South Korea 09 Feb - 25 Feb.
  2. Try Google: airbnb Pattaya City Garden for example.
  3. West side of Sandy Spring was The Haven Hotel which has been demolished and is now a construction site.
  4. Premier recently rebadged as Travelodge. Opened in 2014 as the OZO. No joiner fee per a response to a query on Trip Advisor.
  5. Yeah, I finally just cut the cord. I still get Netflix and Amazon Prime but no more TV and I don't really miss it. The $135/mo. saved comes in handy
  6. D Hotel Pattaya ★★★ $29 To Pattaya Beach: 690 meters. Pool – Free room wifi Added on: October 19th 2016. Response to joiner policy email: “Normally customer book a room for 2 people but you stay alone, you can bring joiner to you room and she can stay overnight. 7. Not much recent experience, but a couple of years ago I flew back on China Airline and I'd avoid China Airlines as they've gone to 10 across seating in economy. It's not just the seat width, but also no room for shoulders. In an aisle seat, I was either being hit by the trolleys or bumping shoulders with the big guy sitting next to me. Just looked at some Jan. flights on Kayak and Eva comes in at $688 with your midnight departure and flight times of 21.5 and 19.25 hours. Cathay would be good but $1121 via HK - 16 hr. return flight! Korean at $756 with one BKK arrival at 13:00. but lon
  8. Bangkok Hospital Pattaya Clinic Sept. 2013 (Pattaya Mail) Bangkok Hospital Pattaya opened its first neighborhood clinic in Central Pattaya, offering Soi Boonsampan-area residents checkups and basic medical services. Hospital Director Dr. Pichit Kangwolkij and Nongprue Mayor Mai Chaiyanit joined sub-district government and police officials at the Sept. 9 ribbon cutting. Monks from local temples provided the blessing. Pichit said the clinic offers free services, including free checks for diabetes, blood pressure, eyesight and pregnancy, as well as paid medical services that people o
  9. Booking site map has it on the wrong side of Buakhao Use Google maps and type in R-Con Blue Ocean. Mixed reviews on TripAdvisor as you'd expect. Place is now 5 years old and needs maintenance per comments and noise from the bars may be a problem. I think I'd just book for a couple of nights and give it a test run.
  10. Yep, I was there as well, Feb-March 2002. But I think they were just clearing the land at that time and hadn't reached the pile driving stage.
  11. Word I get from a very good source on Soi 6 is this clampdown is per Bangkok orders, not local. Licenses have always been for 6 pm alcohol service and anything earlier has been a license violation. That of course has been pretty much ignored for the most part. These limited hours are likely to continue "for awhile". And as EVIL mentioned in post #9 there's some concern about the girl's behavior on the street, especially some strutting their stuff dressed only in a micro bikini. Yes, some bars continue semi-clandestine operation, however half a dozen or so have been caught out. 100K baht
  12. Nice set. I was force fed country music as kid, so it took me well into adulthood to begin to appreciate it.
  13. Nipa Lodge > Nova Lodge > Centara > Basaya
  14. I've always thought BPH's prices were at least OK for out-patient visits including lab/x-ray work, but once admitted the numbers can quickly get crazy.. Published on Apr 11, 2013 Sleep Apnea by Darakul Pornsriniyom, M.D., Neuroscience Center at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya - with Dr. Iain Corliss doing the intro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8pEYmyC98Q ---
  15. Ok, a Google search shows me what you're after. Good choice. and lucky you; you can order on-line from Harrod's I'd hurry though as prices may not hold firm given Brexit and all that. £2190.00 http://www.harrods.com/product/oconnor-suit/tom-ford/000000000004067078
  16. Looks like it's the rebadged BALITAYA resort on Soi 15. And there is a new Balitaya on Soi 12 off Naklua Road.
  17. Perth consulate was closed and then reopened in 2013 I think it was and are still open. "Yes we are open Monday to Thursday from 9.30am to 2.30pm each week, except for public holidays. A visa application form can be downloaded from our website below. Kind regards, Royal Thai Consulate, Perth Staff Ground Floor 28-42 Ventnor Avenue West Perth, WA 6005 Postal Address: PO BOX 848, West Perth, WA 6872 Tel: (08) 9226 2288 Email: thaiconsulateperth@hotmail.com Website: http://www.thaiconsulateperth.com/
  18. Yes, get a Thai visa at their Perth consulate. http://www.thaiconsulateperth.com/?page_id=11
  19. Yep, pretty barren of bars. Nearest would be Sois 7 & 8 and then what have you got? I stayed at August's sister hotel the April Suites in Feb. 2016 so I'm familiar with the area. And ten years ago I had an apt. on Soi 6 for a couple of years, so I went there for a few beers. Later in Feb. I went to Dubai and on my return neither April nor August had vacancies so I stayed at 247 on Soi Honey which was much better served for nearby food and drink.
  20. Back in the eighties I worked at a hospital in Dhahran and was having a casual conversation with our ophthalmologist who was one of the few staff members from Canada. I think we somehow got into Canadian politics a bit and he asked me my opinion about some ongoing topic there. I was puzzled for a second and then I said, "I don't know. You do know I'm not Canadian?" And then I immediately asked, "Why did you think I was Canadian? "Oh, because you look Canadian."
  21. Yes, I lived in Thailand for 10 years and had an account with Wells Fargo in California. They had no problem with my living abroad as long as I had an address in the US. (I used my daughter's.) A wire transfer account had to be set up in person at their bank. To activate a transfer I had to telephone the bank's international desk in Colorado giving them account details and a PIN. They did not allow internet initiated transfers. A call at 01:00 would mean the transfer completed same day mid-afternoon and there were never any problems. Until August 2011 when I got an email from the
  22. I had 3BB for several years when I lived in Pattaya and every time I was almost ready to switch to another ISP it would right itself and all would be well until it wasn't again. Rinse and repeat. Spent some time today on this topic and had a look at thaivisa and what do you know, there's a thread from last April titled 3BB rooter (sic) - Can I replace it? Anyway it seems my mate has decided he "needs", much as one decides the "need" for a new car, camera, phone or assault weapon, to get rid of the 3BB modem and buy a WiFi router and there is only the question of what brand and model
  23. A mate of mine in Pattaya asks for some help. He's using 3BB and for the last couple of years he's had WiFi using 3BB's standard modem piggybacking with another brand WiFi modem. Problem is, though in the past it's been OK for browsing, he's recently started trying to watch videos with an iPad and there is a constant loss of connection. Should he buy 3BB's WiFi modem or would another brand be more likely to solve the problem?
