I think they are like a savings/discount coupon for your next purchase. If you collect enough of them you can get a few bahts worth for free or discounted. The maids will be very happy with them and good on ya for leaving them for the maid and not throwing them awway

Mick, sorry to hear about your friend. I recently had to come back to Thailand for urgent treatment and went to the BKK Hospital pattaya. I was really dissappointed at their service and attitude. When i first went in, i was quoted 30k a night for th room and they sent several doctors to see me who had no clue what they were doing. I complained to Iam Corness the farang representative who managed to sort things out for me and got my room rate adjusted to 7k a night. He also got the right doctor to come to see me who diagnosed my problem quickly and got me straight - this was after 4 days of nonsense. And when it came to leaving, i rang my insurance company infront of the nurse and she heard them say "no problem, we will cover all the costs 100%" the hospital then said i could not leave as they use a 3rd party negotiator in Malaysia to finalise the costs WTF. So i told him were to go and just left after signing the papaers at the cashiers desk 1 minute later. I have a couple of friends who went to Bumrungrad and they cant say enough about the place. I am going there again in a few weeks for a ventral hernia op and i have been reading up on this hospital, it has some of the best doctors in thailand and they seem to be on the top when it comes to service also. Have been quoted 8k a night from the onset, so its about right and im happy with them so far. hope it works out for your friend. Good luck

I have been getting mail for nearly 10 years,the best advice i can suggest is you make sure its sent registerd so some one has to sign for it. Letters do go missing if thy are not registered. And that goes for send mail from Thailand also. It dont cost much more to have it registered

If you know of a particular building in a certain area, you might do well to go talk to the front entrance security guards and maybe get a look at the public notice boards to see if any of the condos are available and you could contact the owners direct. An alternative would be to go to Center Condo and get some numbers from the public notice board or ask at the management office. Also, you could call in to Ricky at Private Dancer and he lives there and may know some one who rents short term

It may be a good thing to have a section to list all known and found scams on here

I have seen this at this same petrol station many times in the past. When i go to put petrol in the car, i go to a petrol station on Sukhomvit and never say "fill it up" i always say to put in 1000 baht

If my plane left at 09.15, i would leave Pattaya at about 06.00

I allow a bit of time for the possibility of the passport line to be long, so if my flight was at 7 am, i would leave Pattaya at 04.30, be at airport 05.45, and then have 1 hour-ish to check in etc. I travel quite often through the airport and at some god awful times. I usually allow about 3 - 3+1/2 hours from Pattaya to time flight leaves
