  1. Beach Rd getting set up for Chinese NY celebrations.
  2. A few pics of the current status of the beach reclamation project. Towards the north end they dropped off several loads of riprap. Wonder if that will be used for erosion control, or possibly a base for boat launch ramp. Another hazy day. Could only make out the Pattaya City sign when zoomed in. Not many chutes in the air, but I confess when I took the pic I wasn't really looking that far out. One positive to the beach nourishment project, boat passengers are only one or two steps from dry land when getting on or off the speedboats. I just don't see how these barriers will control runoff and erosion if that is their intended purpose. The beach nourishment project is almost done. Final snaps of the final work to be done on the south end.
  3. I think having a pinned list is a great idea. Rather than just a list, perhaps an embedded map and Google Sheet could be used. The nice thing about using embedded maps and sheets is the reviewer would only need to edit the map and sheet and the changes would then be seen in the forum post. I'm doing that now for the maps of the dark side bars and GC's. What I envision is the map would have locations of the restaurants that have been reviewed, and the sheet a list of the restaurants with a column for noting which nation or regional cuisine the restaurant specializes in. The sheet could also have another column that links to the review in the forum, although since Evil posts his reviews in several forums there would need to be separate columns for each forum. @Evil Penevil, if this idea is something you'd like to pursue, I would be willing to set up the initial map and Google Sheet for you. I could then either grant you edit rights to the map and sheet under my Gmail account, or you could copy that map and sheet to your own Gmail account.
  4. Sunset yesterday noted the air looked particularly bad. Very hazy, and seemed to be worse than anything I've seen before. This post on FB confirmed it.
  5. This article obviously ignored air quality when compiling the ranking of healthiest cities in the world. Pattaya was no. 4 and Chiang Mai no. 2. https://www.travelsupermarket.com/en-gb/holidays/healthiest-cities-in-the-world/
  6. I decided to put the air purifier I had offered for sale back into service. Made a noticeable difference in my home office, so glad I didn't sell it.
  7. I wandered over to New Plaza last night. Liked how they had closed off the soi and set up three stages for music. The disappointment was no bands, only karaoke on each of the stages. Still the vibe was good and people were having a good night out.
  8. A few pics as Pattaya gets ready to celebrate NYE. New Plaza is the new Walking Street tonight. Klang from 2nd Rd to Beach Rd just closed and the last of the traffic clearing the road. But at 15:30, Beach Rd south at Klang was still open with no barricades in sight. Mats out and Thai families celebrating NYE Thai style. Blustery day out on the water with parasailing grounded. 2nd Rd chock a block from the Avenue to Klang.
  9. I found their FB page which you can use to contact them. Strange they didn't think to put a FB link on their website, had to use Google to find it. https://www.facebook.com/makerspaceth/
  10. This site has an interesting article on "The Truth About Air Pollution in Thailand" https://www.thethailandlife.com/air-pollution-thailand?fbclid=IwAR0I3fMNIT3km89ifuqaaTgXgMCozgxUZo84ChhcRlV7HurC5GZLS9MLuUY
  11. You can order N95 masks from here: https://makerspace-thailand.myshopify.com/products/n95-mask They also sell a Portable AQI Sensor: https://makerspace-thailand.myshopify.com/products/air-tricorder-portable-aqi-sensor?variant=5931871207453
  12. This FB page has air quality readings at Pratumnak. This mornings reading was 124. https://www.facebook.com/PollutionWatchThailand
  13. The problem is a lower contrast between the text and the off-white, very light grey background color. Definitely makes the text harder to read, especially for older eyes. For those using Chrome I recommend the extension High Contrast. Once installed select the Increased Contrast setting. Only draw back to this extension is some pictures are displayed very dark, but that problem is easily resolved by temporarily disabling the extension. As for double-spaced lines. If you want a single spaced line, use Shift Enter to start the new line.
  14. You could be right on that as that was my first thought when I saw the crew.
  15. The Bua Khao muck removal team has moved their base of operations a bit farther south. Should provide smelly entertainment for day time Bua Khao drinkers over the next couple of weeks.
  16. Didn't see any thread dedicated to general pics people take while out and about around Pattaya. Feel free to add your own. Here's a couple from today. North end of Bua Khao the muck in the storm sewers is getting removed, by hand. Sukhumvit end of Pattaya Tai now has a super sized 7-11.
  17. It might be worth his while to get the income letter before YE, then hopefully in January there is some sort of official word from TI on their acceptance for six months. If no official announcement is forthcoming by end of January, he still has time to go the 800k, 3 month route.
  18. Hopefully the police order will resolve the discrepancies in requirements between offices.
  19. There is, but it displays all new content. The steps I described allow you to customized the new content to the topics you want to see and ignore those you have no interest in.
  20. And if BM's want to customize their Unread Content, see this post.
  21. For those not familiar with the upgraded forum features, it's possible to create your own unread content "activity stream". Here are the steps to do so. 1. Under My Activity Streams select Create New Stream. 2. Give your new stream a name. 3. In the Content Types section, click on the gear icon on the selection for Topics. 3.5 In the Read Status section, select Content I haven't read. 4. Click on the drop down list arrow and select the topics you want to see new content for. When you're done selecting topics, click Save Changes in the lower right corner. 5. Once saved you can make your customized activity stream the default stream by clicking on the green check mark icon. By doing the above, your customized activity stream will appear under the search prompt on each page. Optional is clicking on your customized activity stream and then bookmarking that page. Note also you can select a Condensed or Expanded activity listing.
  22. I'm not a fan of the mouth either. Perhaps another graphic in its place? A stylized graphic of the Pattaya city skyline, w/o the Waterfront in it.
  23. Like the one you currently have on the test forum. Perhaps a talking mouth that's open a little wider, with a happier mouth expression? Found that one using a Google image search. https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS813US813&biw=2048&bih=1050&tbs=itp%3Aclipart&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=8U8TXIOQHtf9rQHgkKzwBQ&q=mouth+talking+with+tongue&oq=mouth+talking+with+tongue&gs_l=img.3...4268.9953..10218...12.0..0.108.1347.14j2......1....1..gws-wiz-img.......0j0i8i30.JpfovvxFRM8
  24. Bangkok Post has a new article on the Siri Charoenwat Forest Plantation Path. There's riding in those hills
  25. I would be very surprised if the upgrade isn't a success. From frostfire's posts he has put in a lot of work ahead of the upgrade to test and resolve issues before releasing it to the general public. Now having posted this I'll probably be the one responsible for jinxing the upgrade. So if the upgrade goes tits up you know who to blame.
