Carrying Passport in Thailand!
Idefix replied to Bornloser's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Yes, it's the way to go, but don't forget the TM6 (Departure Card) copy, and the AuthorizationOfStay Stamp copy too. As a guy living in Pattaya, I always have with me a small waterproof transparent bag with: - my Thai Driving License (that I use as ID card when one is required or to get Thai prices in parcs/attractions) - copy of passport (1st page, visa, stamp, TM6) - my health card (for hospital in case of accident or sickness) with Insurance ref. & contact - a Visa credit card - a card with my address, phone, mail + contact ref. of a friend to contact in Pattaya in case of pro -
Spankys Bar soi Diamond
Idefix replied to spankys bar soi diamond's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Really? Cen be wrong for some but: The Happy group: 115 baht too; my last bill at Baccara was 180 baht; 65 happy-hours + 115 LD. Casnovy, NLD1, HotGirls, ToyZ, Beach Club were 110 or 115 too not long ago I think. Stars, The Sea, Playgirls & Noi's are still 110 Diamonds was less than 100 (95?) at Christmas, Sweetheart's too. and probably a few others I don't know or remember... PS: I pay a lot of more LD than I pay drinks for me- 76 replies

Spankys Bar soi Diamond
Idefix replied to spankys bar soi diamond's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Ok MM. Seems a good way. Didn't know about that. I must admit I didn't go to FLB for a loooong time. And to come back to your "about getting better talent in the bar", I would happily accept to pay more in a bar to have plenty of lovely ladies/hostess to look at and/or chat with, even if many of them "don't go". It's not for me a problem as long as it's clearly said before tens of LD... The red/green badge come in mind.- 76 replies

Spankys Bar soi Diamond
Idefix replied to spankys bar soi diamond's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Ummm... maybe better talents, yes, but we already find ladies who "specialize" in LD and are not interested in being BFed. A higher commission would lead more girls to act like that and it's often not really what we want... I can understand the manager increasing LD in an always full place (rare) but for other places I am unsure: lower LD means more LD, customers staying longer and buying more drinks...- 76 replies

Have you ever been stopped by Customs coming INTO Thailand ?
Idefix replied to chatkeow's topic in Idle Chit Chat
Happened twice in more than 10 years to me. Both at old airport. Just a Xray scan of my bags. But the moderator can be not so far from the truth if and only if your consider ONLY PEOPLE WITH DUTY-FREE BAGS ! For maybe 1 year now there is a very strict control on alcohol and cigarettes. There was already a control before, but very "light". Not now! I warned my friend about cigarettes. Don't remember the price but the fee is very expensive ! -
You can't increase the limit defined in the ATM: usually 20 or 25 notes max. Then 25,000 baht max, but you can play again
-
Is it the joke of the day? Depending of view/floor/season you can find rooms there in the 11-14,000 baht range if you talk with the owner, not with an Internet company. It's certainly not so pricey and VT6 poor quality would not allow high prices for long term rents. You will find higher prices in many newer condos allover Pattaya. Or you can walk a few sois to the North and check if you can get anything to rent for less than 40,000 baht in NorthShore...

There are rules/condition to get foreign currency accounts in (most) Thai banks. Very often they ask for a Work Permit or Residence Permit. I asked and get such accounts thought ($ et €), at KasikornBank, without these requirements, but I was a client for several years already. http://www.kasikornb...entAccount.aspx

Why only half? I think we had this discussion a few months ago (or was it on an other forum?) and one member gave his own experience: from what I remember, he bought a condo in his name a few months after he maried a Thai lady. Things turned wrong after 2 years and the lady - clearly pushed by her family - asked for everything they have. The guy got a layer, went in court, and because the condo was bought in his name, with all money coming from an account in his name in his country, and because the lady could not prove she had or earned any money before he bought it, the judge decided that th -

Hi, Is everybody supposed to know where this bar is? I have no idea, and Google tell me that there is tens of "sports bar" in Pattaya...

... and in mine too ! I just cheked the small box where I put coins when I have to many in my wallet, and I can easily pay the BF in a Pattaya agogo with all my 10-baht coins ! 87 ! Plus 34 5-baht coins if 10's are not enough I will make an effort to make these coins circulate; they are made for small business, not to stay in a drawer... I have tens of 25 and 50 satangs coins too. Will make a stop in the wat next door.

Pattaya’s Real Estate Market – A Review
Idefix replied to Gabor's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hi Grahamxxx, I disagree with this statement, on several ways: - most but not all condos have to respect this 51% quota (a few old ones have a 90% quota) - in some condos a big part of the 51% Thai quota apparts are own by farangs through a Thai company. There is certainly a big problem with houses in Pattaya, but for condos it seems there is new buyers every day and if prices have go down maybe 10% 2 years ago, they slowly come back to their previous price. At least in condos I know in South Pattaya area. -
Yes she can get a 7 (seven) days extension on a 30 days visa exemption. She could get a 30 (thirty) days extension if she had a Tourist Visa. In both case it cost 1,900 baht and she need 1 photo, copies of passport, stamp and departure card, and a proof of address in Pattaya. I was in Jontien immigration last week for an extension. About 3pm, and took about 15 minutes. (Application is fast but you have ti wait for the one who register payments...) Don't wait for the last day. Better to go 1 week before. Days will be had to your actual limit date of stay anyway.

No. The Nouvo (not Elegance) is 115 cc. 30 times !?? Would you do that in your country ? So why here ? I drive "the normal way" here, and always wear my helmet. Never had to pay a fine; Never put myself in a position where corruption could occur. Reading this thread, some people really look for problems here

Pattaya fills-up as Bangkok residents escape the floods
Idefix replied to Gabor's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hi, I don't know if they come from Bangkok or if they are part of the many ladies expected for November, but there is many new ladies in agogos arrived these last 2 nights ! Stayed in Baccara last night about 1 hour. I saw 2, then 2, then 3 ladies coming see the mamassan clearly to find a job there. Upstairs there were 5 new ladies already (1st or 2nd work day here). When I left, at about 10:30pm, there were still 38 ladies upstairs. (I didn't count the dancers - too difficult - but easier to count their numbers on the board ) There use to be 2 times to 2.5 times more danc -

Hi. I found an article about "safe to drink" water in Pattaya area: Chonburi guarantees local tap water is “safe to drink” Water now complies with WHO standards http://www.pattayamail.com/444/news.shtml#hd1 Shaded area depicts the area of Pattaya having drinkable tap water : There was a most recent one - but in newspapers I think - about all water distribution tubes having been change from Beach Rd to 2nd or 3rd Rd. Anyway I think that in case of lake of water bottle, the best and easiest solution is to use these many blue osmosis machines. It will remove chlorine
-
Yes. Times change. Pattaya mayor inaugurated the new filtering system about 1 year ago. Water distributed in Pattaya is drinkable. I remember they said distribution tubes have been change from Beach Rd to 3rd Road and that the City even installed a few drinking water fountains.

Hi. Today Thai newspapers recommended people to make reserves of food and water in case of a new flooding! I imagine the rush on water, rice and 1st necessity food... About water, reservoirs are at a good level and we should not have problem with city water. If you don't find bottles any more, you can use one of the many "osmose machines" in Pattaya, or just drink water from the tap if in Beach Rd to 3rd Road area.
