  1. Can we go back to getting hugs from Nam when she picks you up like I used to get? Just kidding. Always had a great service from all of her drivers and will continue to use her taxis on all my trips, regardless of the increase - still really good value. KM
  2. The Mods get paid? Frostyyyyyyyyyyy!!! (Just kidding! ) KM
  3. Nope - never even seen the site
  4. Sorted for you Glad to help! KM
  5. ...or just delete it.
  6. I wondered where I left that!! KM
  7. Frosty I mod on here as well as another much larger UK site. I am also a member on many different sites, some are free, some are by voluntary donations and some by subscription. All work in their own way and it will depend on how much revenue per member you need to generate. From my point of view I would steer away from ads as they can be bloody annoying when they appear. Sponsorship by a bar? Well, it would be the personality of the bar that draws people into the bar and conversely onto the site. But if the bar owner changes (it's been known to happen in Pattaya!) then what happens? If you have a voluntary donation, then you can have a specific 'paid member's area or some other enhancement to their access. However, if you have a subscription only you lean towards pushing people to other (less worthy!) free sites. Are you only looking for $150 per month? Is it that difficult to raise that per month? happy to chat further about it. KM
  8. They'll just relocate the staff to Tropical Berts!!

  10. Considering what the payload of a B-52 is, I don't think many people would be too concerned about how unhealthy the engines are!!
  11. So what's the priority?
  12. I'm 'Silver' too, but I've never found my baggage to come out priority first. Last month I waited over 40 minutes at the carousel for my bag to come out, how does that work as priority??
  13. Well, the British press always said Pattaya was full of pedants........................................ or was that perverts? This thread just goes to show, they're one and the same!! KM
  14. Are we scrabbling around chasing pennies here? If you're only here for a few weeks or a month or so, does it really matter what scheme you use? All schemes will do text messaging and phone calls and pretty much all will do internet connection. Whichever you choose none of them will affect your overall budget for your holiday, so if you run out, just top up! Just buy a sim card and stick it in! KM
  15. Ask Vodaphone before you leave to unlock it for you.
  16. The other alternative to Dancewatchers is Honeys. http://www.honeyscoffeehouse.com - they are based in the complex, unlike DW, and speak reasonable English. They include cleaning within their price, but they can be a little hit or miss when they turn up, but easily resolved as they are only downstairs. As I mentioned earlier, there are other agencies in the complex, but I can't confirm what their apartments are like, but may be able to find their details if you need them. Just check which side of the building the apartment is on. On the South side, you get the views and often cost a bit more than on the North side, which gives you a view of Central Festival or the Hilton and the hum of their aircon units! KM
  17. Butch This recommendation is a bit betwixt and between the 2 areas you've mentioned, however it does tick many of your boxes. It's View Talay 6 next to Central Festival. Large pool with several loungers and areas of shade from the trees. No gym though. Apartment size is 48 sq m. Definitely on a baht bus route whichever direction you want to go as it has a private exit/entry onto Beach Road and the main entrance is on 2nd Road. You are only about 15-20 minutes walk of Soi Buckhaow. There are several different agencies that rent apartments there, so some speak English better than others, but the two agencies I've used I've not had a language problem with them (Honeys and Dancewatchers). To a certain degree you decide on how often your room is cleaned and some include cleaning in the room price, but Dancewatchers charge on top of the room price. Quiet area? Well, hard to fully define that. Across the road from it is the 'Made in Thailand' complex and depending how close to that end of the building and how high/low your room is will depend on your noise level, however I never found it a deal breaker. Plus if you like beer bars, it's not a bad complex to have across the road! Prices vary, depending on which agency you use and location of your apartment within the complex. Dancewatchers are often the higher price , but the rooms are generally better, however the other apartments aren't bad. The longer you stay, the lower the daily price as well. I've stayed there a few times, for about 3 weeks at a time and will probably stay there again next year for a couple of weeks. Some guys here have had long term lets of a few months, so what may niggle them may not have been an issue for me only staying a few weeks. It's definitely worth considering, even as a form of comparison for other places you look at. Hope that helps and if you have any other queries about it, just let me know KM

  19. Since you have now reposted another thread clarifying your requirements, then this thread will be closed - no need to have two requests running at the same time. KM
  20. I was trying to see which one was the flag waver!! KM
  21. I landed at 6 on a Sunday morning and they were open, however as has already been said they are busy. If you can wait until you get to Pattaya it might be less hassle - up to you. KM
  22. just last night I had a meal where the lady asked if i was ok with 'spicy.' i said 'spicy ok.' The kitchen staff must have thought ' we show falang what spicy means' and made it, shall we say, err spicy!! To be fair it was bloody good, but it cleared my sinuses in a jiffy - although I replaced the lost bodily fluids with copious amounts of beer. You cant be too careful these days! If all else fails, Atlas, ask them if you can get spicy meal on prescription! KM
  23. The upstairs seats do not appear to be 'reserved' for anyone, i.e. it doesn't matter if you have silver status or whatever - they are open for anyone. If you ring Thai Airways to book, they will quote you a higher price than the website, so you end up booking via the website anyway. KM
  24. Up stairs at the back is still economy and if you book through Thai website, you can pick those seats as well. I sat in the exit row halfway along bu near the toilets and I couldn't hear the flush - better quality noise reducing headphones perhaps? KM
  25. it would be nice to think that, seven years on, Frosty has sorted out his chair problem!!!
