Help, What is a streaming Music License

That's good. The cynic in me was thinking that a disgruntled employee could leave a pirate CD in the bar and then call the inspectors and pocket a share of the 'Fine.' You may as well ban the Hawkers from your premises. Let them do their thing outside. I'd consider having a Lawyer available to come down at a moments notice. It'll cost you but the Officials are less likely to fuck around with your Lawyer present. -

Help, What is a streaming Music License

Chris, I'm not sure there is much to complain about here (BTW I'm not saying that you are complaining)? In England you are required to have a License for playing music. Why shouldn't Thailand expect the same to be paid for? Ignorance of the Law is no excuse. The fact that you have topless pics on your PC is far worse than your staff playing pirate music. Don't make the mistake of thinking it's just a third world country so you don't need to be on your toes. Having a Thai Wife and a 'Friendly' Local Cop is great. Do you have a Thai Lawyer on a retainer? The fact that the matter was ultimately settled by a trip to the ATM has got to be good news as far as you are concerned? OK, it sucks that Cops/Officials are corrupt but in this instance, it saved you from a spell behind bars. Get used to it or start socialising higher up the foodchain asofar Cops go! Thanks for posting though. It was an interesting read and I like to hear about these trials and tribulations of running a bar. I wish you good luck and I hope to spend a few quid at your establishment one day PS. Sack the Manager that set you up with the Thai MP3 CD -

Spam. Should be in the Business Section (imho). -
This is the make/model of the one I bought: Xincom XC-DPG502 Google it, they are widely available and cheap.

I made a mistake on the price of the WAN Router. I was thinking in Pounds instead of Dollars. It was actually @ £90/$180 which is still cheap for what can be achieved from it.
-
You don't know what you're talking about. I own a router with multiple WAN connections. There is no setup. Load balancing is automatic so is redundancy. It cost me $80 and I had it shipped to the UK. What's so difficult about that?
-
How about a job in Boyztown? Easy money
-
You are obviously out of your depth here. Either buy a WAN Router for @ US$70 or install two NICs in your PC with Wingate software

Can you not get two internet connections installed in the apartment from different providers? When one goes down the other might still be working. You can combine the bandwidth of the two connections to double your up/down speeds. Maybe there's only one internet provider in Pattaya?

Gentlemen......... This is not a good way to do business. Hippie, forget this guy if he isn't even capable of replying to you on an internet forum, lol. What are you going to do if you get a burst water pipe and you're flooding the ten floors below you? If it takes Eric the Boss so long to respond, how long will it take one of his workers? -
Why don't you try sending a small amount of money to Thailand and then try sending it back to your own country again? Is that so difficult? OK, so you will waste some money on fees but at least you will have an idea if the system works or not.

It sems like Hilly hasn't figured out how to put the batteries in the remote control yet, so for anybody else that is putting together a Multimedia System, consider this...... http://www.netgear.com/Products/Entertainm...ers/EVA700.aspx

In that case, good luck getting your deposit returned -
Whatever you did Pete, it worked because I have 'remember me' ticked and I just had to log in. Good Job. I think you should do it every 24 hours.
-
Respect How are you treated in your local? Do you get much grief or is it all of the friendly banter variety? Chatujak? That rings a bell. That's where they have a big market right? Is it 24 hour?
-
What area of BKK do you live? I'd like to look it up on my map. I think many people forget just how vast Bangkok is. If you can speak Thai there must be a multitude of good places to live cheaper than Pattaya. After all, Pattaya is only a 100 Baht/2 hour bus ride away!

You should consider networking with firewire or USB2. Much faster for @ same cost.

Jacko, I thought this might be useful info for you if you aren't already aware of it. Some kind of 'Super Turd' agreement ........... "Don't lease the land or set up a company or any other such dodgy scheme. Get a "superficies". This allows you to have control of the land and and all buildings on it, and lasts for the rest of your natural life (not just 30 years). The land still belongs to your wife, but you have absolute control. I don't want to spell doom, but this also means if you separate you can decide who lives there, her or you. On your death the superficies expires and the land ( which, of course, belongs to her) reverts to her control. On a brighter note, a back to back will giving her the house and its contents, and in her case leaving the land to whoever she chooses is a wise addition. The superfices would still be in force in your case. If she leaves it to you you have a short period in which to sell it (1 or 2 years, I cannot remember, because you are farang, or ownership reverts to the state (as I recall), so thats not a wise move; ensure she leaves it to a Thai National) It's 100% legal, involves a competant lawyers fee and a very small fee at the local land registry. It is recorded on the land registry papers, and in case anybody doubts the legality of this, the land office officials are instructed to inform the lady concerned of the implications of what she is signing...and they do. It was originally intended for things like rubber plantations etc, but is fine for houses too. I recently registered such an agreement at the land office in Udonthani, it takes about 2 hours there after passing through 3 sections of rubber stamping and counter signing... I have an example of the agreement I can upload (deleting the personal sections of course) in English. You need a Thai legalise version for the land office of course (my English version is competently translated, but I would not want to risk a translation back to Thai), hence the lawyer. It will need 2 witnesses, not family members. Why everyone does not do this, instead of being sucked by fee seeking lawyer/accountants into the dodgy company route (which the Thais seem likely to outlaw) I am not sure. Of course if you are 75+ a lease would be equally secure...... " From here..... http://www.coolthaihouse.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=325 I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it. Be lucky
