  1. What surprised me is that BA were flying a passenger 747. I thought that these days they were only used for cargo routes. I wonder if they still had the tv screens hanging from the ceiling? Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk

    Baht

Totally agree with you. Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  3. Stay in a hotel the night before your immigration visit. A reputable hotel will do a current TM30 report for you. Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  4. Interesting factoid: In 2019 there were 257 fatalities of people worldwide using commercial airlines (source BBC news). During the first 4 days over the New Year period of 2019/20 there were 256 fatalities on Thailand roads (source Thai Tiger). Stay safe folks. Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  5. I fly 4 or 5 times a year on that route. Check in online 48 hours before departure for free seat selection. Flight capacity varies, I have been in a full cabin and another time had 4 seats to myself, you never know but the Emirates 380 provides a comfortable seat and good entertainment. I particularly like it that I can get off the train and through security in a matter of minutes as I only take a carry on bag. When booking make sure of the transit time in Dubai. Less than one hour is too short more than three hours is too long. Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  6. How do you avoid the Air Asia payment fees for each leg of the journey? Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  7. BKK airport 7pm 9th July 2019 Scary Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  8. What is hitting me is the realisation that 380 Baht is £10 GBP. I, like many others, used to convert in my head that £10 was about 500 Baht. Now a 20 baht tip to round up a bill is more than 50p. A large Leo in my bar in Roiet is 80 Baht or over £2.10 a bottle. To put 800,000 Baht in a bank here as required to support a retirement visa is around £21,000 GBP. And the rate keeps dropping.......! Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  9. The smartgates in the UK work well too, but don't require fingerprints. Last trip Emirates 380 landed at 18:36 at Birmingham and I was on the train home at 19:05. BKK immigration fast lane was a little slower as a family with 5 small children was being processed in front of me. Smallest children were not fingerprinted but had to be coaxed for the photo. 10. I decided to give the Dynasty Inn another try since the the mattress upgrade and find that imho they are very similar to the ones they replaced. They are firm but I have enjoyed comfortable sleeps without pain. On a hardness rating, if a bale of cotton-wool was 1 and a table-top 10 then they would probably be a 6 or 7. 11. If you have never driven in Thailand before then the experienced lady should drive. The Thais do not follow the normal rules and cut corners, drive the wrong side of the road, refuse to put their lights on, negotiate roundabouts differently. As a passenger remain calm and don't criticise. Western driving techniques can cause accidents. Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  12. Has anyone stayed at Dynasty Inn recently. I often stay there for a few days a I like the location but I also like my comfort. Your review would appreciated. Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  13. This may be useful new information some of you that TUI Airways have now got direct flights from 3 UK airports to Pattaya Example below. Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  14. Easy if you think outside the box. Visit Pattaya, find a barlady, have fun, fall in love, move to her place in isaan, her 8 year old son or daughter will teach you everything you need to know about driving motorcycles down farm tracks and through fields. Mission accomplished, fun included. Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  15. Reading the above posts I am surprised that people pay to have a credit card. It is not usually the case with a UK credit card. I am over 73, a range of chronic illnesses and put more than £750 a month into a free Nationwide bank account. This gives free travel insurance but only to the fit to Europe for no more than 30 days. I extend this to cover my illnesses, to go worldwide excluding USA and for as many trips not exceeding 90 days as I want during the premium year. Cost this year was £181.00 Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  16. These roads are restricted to 90 kph so the tickets you received were for exceeding the limit by 33% or more. Here in Roiet, in addition to the speed cameras they also have traffic light cameras to catch you jumping the lights and lane control cameras to catch people cutting in from the wrong lane. It is strange when visiting other cities where red-light jumping and lane changing is still rampant. Sent from my ASUS_X00HD using Tapatalk
  17. You are of course quite correct but as this thread concerned Stansted and Emirates I didn't think it relevant, unless of course Emirates are considering flying from Prestwick now. Sent from my ASUS_Z010D using Tapatalk
  18. Stansted has other uses too! Why do security scares and hijacked planes fly to Stansted Airport? What is it that makes Stansted the go-to place for hijacks and other aviation security incidents in the UK A recent security-enforced redirection of a Luton-bound Ryanair flight from Lithuania to a new destination at Stansted Airport was another case of Britain's third largest airport being called into emergency action. Fortunately nothing suspicious was found, and other than upsetting the flight schedules, no damage was done. But why is it always Stansted that ends up being used i
  19. Some idea of AIS pay as you go package costs. Sent from my ASUS_Z010D using Tapatalk
  20. And Stansted happens to be a large Air-cargo hub. Sent from my ASUS_Z010D using Tapatalk
  21. China Southern is less than £500 return. Sent from my ASUS_Z010D using Tapatalk
  22. From the prices you have quoted I guess that you are on AIS one2call. If so *129*2# is your friend. Sent from my ASUS_Z010D using Tapatalk
  23. Goldpanner, I totally agree with your advice for international travel that you should not book an airline ticket too early for many reasons such as, you won't get the best price, the airline has your money and things can happen meaning you cannot travel. If you are date specific then 3 months before the flights is ample time to start trawling the scraper sites like Skyscanner Kayak, Momondo etc and if you see a price that suits your budget book there and then, but not necessarily through the links that they provide. If you have flexibility on the dates then book flights for the next day
  24. So I guess that you disagree that airline pricing is made by complex algorithms as described here. http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20130405-how-airline-pricing-works?ocid=ww.social.link.email Sent from my ASUS_Z010D using Tapatalk
  25. I like facts..... Do you have a reference source please. Sent from my ASUS_Z010D using Tapatalk
