  1. I prefer my steak severed from the steer, much smaller plate.
  2. There is more than one brand of museli cereal available, which meets your requirements to some extent. One brand, which I had never heard of before, tastes like styrofoam looks. The museli produced by Kellogg tastes pretty good.
  3. Fat finger syndrome, meant to give a plus 1 for that.
  4. I've walked past it. Of the two alleys going into the Jomtien Complex from Thapprya, it's near the entrance of the northern one. Ed. Yes, the L'Olivier location. The old sign is still up. It's next to the new location of Sam's Mexican Grill.
  5. You may a bit late already on the Xmas/New Years peak.
  6. For a two month rental through Dancewatchers, with a rather higher rent, I paid a 9,000 baht deposit.
  7. Probably not a point. I will be disappointed if I see the same folks wandering down Walking Street with the kids.
  8. There are a few differences in the requirements and procedures. I checked the LA consulate web site the other day and saw that I could meet the financial solvency requirement with the equivalent of 800K in a U.S. account. On the other hand I don't believe you need police and medical certificates for an O-A extension. Just me, but I have greater confidence when I see a source talking about a nonimmigrant O-A. Those who shorten it to non O-A get me confused.
  9. More or less, I was planning to hit LK Metro by 9pm.
  10. Last night, about 8:45, saw a baht bus full of our friends from east of Suez, men, children, and three ladies in black abayas (no vails). They seemed to be enjoying their evening on the town.
  11. Proof of a pension may be hard to verify. On the other hand, you read tales of people going to unconventional sources to get short term loans to establish their 800K bank account.
  12. Other than those veggies interfering with the taste of the burger, no.
  13. Wire transfer to Kasikorn in the wee hours of Friday morning Thailand time posted to my account Monday morning. BTW 31.85 bht to the USD.
  14. It certainly can be very tasty. It would fall in the category of comfort food. Until I read EP's description of what we were looking at, I had a similar reaction to the photos.
  15. Seems to depend on the bank. If I tell Wells Fargo to do an ACH transfer to USAA there is a fee. If I tell USAA to initiate an ACH transfer from Wells Fargo, there is no fee. Brilliant!
  16. Although the link in the OP still works
  17. Okay with Chrome on a laptop. With an android tablet, the map icons are there and, when selected, give you the information in English, but the list is missing.
  18. The difference being that you would be able to recheck your bags about 30 feet after you exit the customs area at the SEATAC airport rather than dragging them half way across the airport. You may still be able to check you bags through to MSP when you check in at Suvarnabhumi. You would need a printout of your domestic itinerary. Bigdelta probably would have known but he departed controlled flight a couple of years ago. Of course, ground truth may be different even if it should be possible in theory.
  19. And consider, we are part of the show.
  20. Not the worst beer/lager I ever had, but it would be an acquired taste. My candidate for worst beer? Orion in Okinawa.
  21. Assuming you have online access to you U.S. bank account, get the amounts in USD there.
  22. Get a 60 day tourist visa.
  23. I'm glad my next two trips, next month and January will only require tourist visas with extensions. The Nation article focuses on visa runs to land borders. That could really ruin your day, being stuck at Kompong Nowher with a back pack, 2000 baht and no legal way to get back into Thailand.
  24. True if it is a refundable rate. A lot of the rates now offered on Agoda aren't these days. It's fairly easy to tell which is which.
