  1. One other alternative if you have a Thai bank account, Kasikorn for example, which allows you to top up on line is to schedule a top up in the future while you are in Thailand. Yes, I know there are ways to do the top up on line in real time from outside Thailand, but one of them getting a OTP (one time password) requires getting service on your Thai sim in the U.S. That may or may not happen.
  2. I seem to remember a secure side shuttle the last time I went through LAX but that was domestic to domestic.
  3. Walked in to the registration's customer service office which is to the left of their lobby counter. Told them I wanted to get a disk with my x-ray and the MRI. The contact representative called someone, radiology, I would assume and said it would be ready in 30 minutes. It was. I don't have anything with a disc drive so I can't vouch for what is on it. There was no charge. They were happy that I had my passport with me. I also asked for my medical records. The told me those would be ready in 3 to 5 days and they would call me. I had either never downloaded the form I mentioned
  4. Richard, you've got some good ideas but you really need to turn down the volume on the music. It borders on being painful.
  5. That's usually my response. When I would stay in Bangkok for more than a night and the guys near the mouth of Sukhumvit Soi 15, would say "Good morning my friend" I would give them a big smile and good morning in return. They didn't push it further.
  6. I glanced at one at a 7-11 towards the southern end of Thappraya and it did not seem to have an English option.
  7. Now I should think you would do better taking a taxi to Suvarnabhumi.
  8. That is a point. You could use one of the upmarket short time rooms, but at 28, you should be thinking long time.
  9. EDIT: On second thought, not smart enough to avoid foot in mouth syndrome.
  10. A suit would certainly get attention but would be a bit extreme. I would suggest long pants and collared shirts (not t-shirts). When asked, you are from America; the girls will give you a blank look if you say United States. On the subject of buying drinks for the girls (lady drinks or LDs), if you have invited a girl to sit with you or think you might be interested in her, go ahead and buy her a drink. After the second drink, you are not increasing the chances of her going with you. A lot of us will not respond positively to an unprompted request to buy a drink. Mostly, be yoursel
  11. No personal experience, but this is Bangkok Bank's site on transferring money from the U.S. via its NYC office. http://www.bangkokbank.com/bangkokbank/personalbanking/dailybanking/transferingfunds/transferringintothailand/receivingfundsfromusa/pages/receivingfundsfromusa.aspx
  12. I think your questions relate more to what the U.S. bank will be willing to do than to the Thai bank.
  13. Heineken is not an enticement. Staff and what they are wearing, or not wearing, could be.
  14. Is that the one you can get from the passport office which does have a photo and can be used for crossing U.S. land borders?
  15. Can't think of why you would need it. Dealing with the embassy, they are going to want to see your passport.
  16. I would say more than slight chance, at least with Korean Air. Last year, a very apologetic young lady at check in was quite concerned until I pointed out my visa. This trip, the agent found the visa on her own and appeared to be entering information from it in the computer.
  17. Not to be a contrarian, but the ex had one for a while in Udon in 1976 or 1977. It definitely did not have 10 gears!
  18. When you do seeing bike riders, a good percentage of them are wearing proper bicycle helmets.
